    Any opening anywhere will do for fumes. The pressure inside is always below the outside in an unpressurised Plane when it's flying. With some effort, cost, wt and drag the exhaust May be extended enough to reduce it significantly. Also seal firewall and doors and have Cockpit air vents open. Tired motors will ooze fumes. There's crankcases that have to vent.. Nev

    IF a Hangar is likely to collapse on your Plane in a strong Wind, it's not a lot of Use. I built, Plans and permits for one at Ballarat for a group of about 7 people who had aircraft and each shared the cost.. That made it affordable. The floor was only Tarred. Concrete is very (prohibitably) costly. Drainage was already there and It's a Heritage Overlay Aerodrome. making it More difficult to satisfy the Planning approval..     Flying has always been expensive unless you are in the Air force Being in the AIR safely for any length of time requires that "something extra". Airmen were considered rare and if a Plane ended up Landing some place, crowds gathered to watch. Nev

    My card had "Access All AREA's" on it. I have no idea why that was the case. Having been Involved in a Bomb SCARE in a plane I was flying I support security Measures as would every RPT passenger who thinks about it. We live in a Pretty rotten world that is getting worse.. Nev

    They wouldn't be doing it without a lot of Cost analysis. The newer Airbus makes it Possible. . You eliminate Landing charges and elapsed time turn around costs and climb fuel but have to carry greater amounts of fuel early on the flight, limiting pax and Payload but having more space in the Cabin for extra comfort. On the return Leg, diversion airports in Australia are more limiting than Europe. It's also easier on the airframe. Less time in the More Turbulent Lower levels and reduced gear, Brakes and flap work and one engine start at least eliminated. Fuel is cheapest in the ME, giving Airlines Operating out of there a constant advantage. Airlines Operate on slim Margins and high Cash flows. This means operating below capacity is risky. That's called a Load factor.. On any Route there will be a Cost Per seat Km, figure, I recall a figure I dug up some years ago was 38Cents AUD. That's on a shorter Internal Leg like Syd-Mel and allow for Inflation. Nev

    One night on a freight flight from Launceston to Hobart (Not that far) in a standing wave condition with a Lenticular cloud over the Central Tiers and the wind from the West, the Plane rose 3,000 feet with Power at idle and the speed at Vne..Air smooth as silk. It would not be like that in the daytime. Nev.

    You can reflect on it. . How others see you is a Lot in their Hands. A pilot of some standing I knew once, said Everyone is Projecting their Image. That must be where I went wrong.. Nev
