  1. By the same token a Loss on the books doesn't help your chances of anything permanent or secure. It's not reasonable to expect use of it for free. car parking costs in many Places. Close to a Town is very convenient User Pays is a common Philosophy. emergency use is something the Council should appreciate in Keeping available and it's something for Ratepayers to Keep on Mind IF a case has to Be made to Keep the Facility.. Nev
  2. Murphy's Law. IF It Is possible to do it Wrong, it will Be.. In this case, before the Bolt was tightened it should have been ascertained the Bolt was through the eye by Moving The Wing up and down and checking it's movement was Limited both ways, by a positive and definite stop.. That would be a Normal procedure and there's NO Backup. Flight is unforgiving of errors and Mistakes. Nev
  3. I don't think that is correct. I doubt it is that effective at all. Security Has to Be effective. Todays world (unfortunately) REQUIRES it. Nev
  4. Councils are a good example of A failure of democracy. The structure eventually serves the people running it whose salaries are Linked to rate INCOME. Shire Officers. You need a Permit for everything and each time it Costs Money. Funny that, and the most common word there is NO. Their ability to slow things down or stop them, is Unmatched. It's a sheltered Workshop. Nev
  5. Dusty Crop Hopper is scared of that. Nev
  6. You will Get Airfields closed to Build Business and housing but Never the reverse.. People want the benefits with none of the discomfort. Sell off the Airport and develop it. Land values go UP and they SELL and Move anyhow. Passengers want Airports to Operate 24/7 and with International flights, that's a Necessity. Airports are High investment Land and it's got to make A return and provide a service. That's how a Modern society Functions. Nev
  7. It's of NO assistance when getting or renewing a Passport either, It's TIME its form and purpose was reassessed . Nev
  8. How can you be required to PAY for something you don't GET? Nev
  9. Yeah This is stuff everyone should know and UNDERSTAND and it's not a complete coverage. WHO does Level Figure 8's perfectly or a Power off wingover? Stalls are a Joke in how they are dealt with in Most training, except It's NOT a Joking Matter. Nev
  10. You Massively Over-react sometimes Skip and seem so definite as to what one should seek to get from an aeroplane. We are all different (Thankfully) and I don't think its good to Impose one's Own values on others choices so forcefully as you have done on this Little Plane in Particular. The whole world can read what's Published HERE. I say to anyone who has the guts to try Market a Plane "Good ON YOU" We need more of this. Knockers are a dime a dozen. Nev
  11. Avdata are a Hard to deal with and costly Debt collector which should not be Involved in the equation in the first Place without the Customers knowledge or agreement. . Nev
  12. Seat of the Pants helps if you're very familiar with the Plane but those indicators take the Guesswork out of being close and they don't get tired late in the day. Nev
  13. Could easily be the CASE. Nev.
  14. I can confirm that this Kind of information is very valuable to the Pilot . Every largish plane has it in some form or other. It's good confirmation of the real situation regarding the wings AoA. that the airspeed alone can not give. Nev.
  15. Turbo Props can have a lot of drag due to high amount (ratio) of the Gearing . With a flame out the drag can be multiples of the Max thrust. That's why they have Auto-Feather Min control speed V(mca) is not a lot different on either side. but with both engines turning in the same direction, One side will be Better than the Other. IF you are Below the Min speed the full rudder application will be insufficient to stop Yaw and roll to the dead engine side,. Nev
  16. It would be difficult to structure a Wing to warp satisfactorily at High speeds (damping). As KG says it's real good for LOW speed manoeuvring. Tiny controls work at High cruise speeds. Savage control capability at high speed risks overloading the Airframe inadvertently, with just a bump of the Hand. Nev
  17. YES. That's how you rip wings off C- 210's. Happened quite a few times. Usually on a base turn in the circuit. Nev
  18. There's other deaths and injuries on the ground, unfortunately. Nev
  19. Applying aileron at High speeds applies a lot of twisting force to the Wing structure itself. You can even get aileron reversal effect. Nev
  20. No Bird ever flew supersonic.. Speed range requires those Lift devices and also the drag(Lift destroyers.) Without ground spoilers you wouldn't get Much brake effect at high speeds and the Plane could skip a long distance at touchdown. Large slotted flaps reduce the Landing distances required substantially. Planes like the B 727 are a good example. Flaps are not permitted to be extended above FL210. Spoilers anytime. Once the flaps are retracted only the smaller inboard ailerons operate.. Having the 3 engines at the rear enables full trailing edge flap to be used . The flap limits the Bank available when Landing. Nev
  21. Assymetric training it looks like, gone wrong. Sad for everyone involved and those who Know them. Nev
  22. With a lot of extra stuff added to the film that's not in the book. None the less, a very watchable and well acted film. The bike was based on a 1920 model INDIAN Scout with Mid 20s AJS ohv cylinder heads fitted and the fork and blade connecting rods milled from Tractor axle derived steel . The Pistons he cast in aluminium alloy using the Modern 3 Piece steel core method and that is shown in the film, very authentically. He retained the "clincher" Beaded edge tyres which were Pretty dicey, and can come off the Rims very easily. There's a Hardware Shop on the west coast of the South Island of NZ that still exhibits a lot of his stuff, Invercargill from Memory . Ther's a 1918 Powerplus Indian same as the One I rode across Australia about 16 years ago. I built it from bits especially for the event and everywhere I stopped at servos etc, People called it the Worlds's fastest Indian.. As well as being a reenactment of a first vehicle crossing 100 years before, it was to support Breast and Prostate cancer. All cars and bikes had to be 1918 or earlier. We did about 250 Km's average each day Service your Own vehicle. Generally. Perth to Sydney. I was one of two Vehicles that went up Victoria Pass. The other was a BSA bike with a really old chap desperate to do it the Hard way too. The alternate way was less steep it was a dirt road and the dust doesn't help those old engines and exposed chains.. Nev
  23. Same with World's fastest INDIAN. Bert Munroe. Incidently I met that Bloke at the Place where I worked in Newcastle. My boss said We aren't going to be doing much for that Bloke Sonny. HE wants everything done for Nothing. . Nev
  24. I think they are Made from a Pretty fancy Material that USA wants to Keep under wraps. Nev
