  1. Some batteries can't be left FULLY discharged for very long at all. There are "special" digital chargers that can revive them but are pretty easy to damage if you don't set them up correctly and don't let anything get Hot. Having a suss Battery in a Plane is Not advised. The setup in a Rotax is a permanent Magnet type and not as easy to regulate as the 'Excited" type which won't work if shut Off when the Battery is flat. Making the Generator charge while all those extra services are On May be beyond the system's capacity. I'd sort the Battery FIRST. It's a "known" unknown. Nev
  2. Can you explain what is wrong? I'm going for Higher rated filters lately. Element durability, Higher temp and synthetic oil rated (size considerations) and Micron rating. Usually has an ST after the normal number. For larger size you have to delve in deeper and Make sure there's room for it. IF you buy them right there's little extra cost if you look around and but More at a time. Good for things Like Hydraulic Lifters and reduce wear generally. Nev
  3. What use is HP required at 10,000 feet? Nev
  4. Electrician arrived and power off for a while. Old clunkers need filter changes more often. You are trying to ensure reliability. OK IF you just drive to the Pub and back. Nev
  5. THAT would be a' single use' washer, so should not be reused, by rights I'd also recommend filter and oil at the same time . Particularly with an aircraft where the oil can be costly... so why not do the Job properly and cut the filter open as well? It's in an aeroplane. Nev
  6. Don't think I've ever used one on a normally aspirated Engine. They do give an indication of engine condition but so does revs on take off for any fixed pitch prop., USE Coarse and Fine with Pitch to avoid confusion. I got little if anything from that presentation, in stryle or substance. Altitude and air temp are the biggest factors in engine and aircraft performance for unboosted engines. You should have a fair idea what the Power at various Levels is on full throttle.. Nev

    Boeing 720

That's in still air. It's a fair bit of runway. Darwin's a long runway. (from memory) Those 707 types Had Dutch Roll issues. Wing sweepback.Nev
  8. WHY bring Rotor Blades into it.? You are just complicating things. It's NOT a propeller. It's rotary wing. Your Prop should be on the fine Pitch stop till you are doing 1.3 Vs. Nev
  9. .Google Map Helps if you have never been to a Place. Hypsometric tints on the WAC chats and spot heights also . Rivers and Mountains rarely move The Yass to Dapto Power line is useful. Nev
  10. The exported article should be Minus the Local GST. OUR GST is on everything . Nev
  11. I think Euro was 60 AUD today so well covered. Nev
  12. HIS last line is enough for you to go on. You have Manual pitch adjustment as well? WE don't know How the question was Put. The fine CS setting on the control is NORMAL apparently. That doesn't mean the prop is/stays at fine pitch or the Motor would overspeed as your airspeed increases. C/S means engine revs stay constant (over a certain range of Airspeeds). Nev

    Boeing 720

Landing distance required is ONLY 1900 Metres (approx. 1 Nm.) Nev
  14. My comment was relates to cars Mainly. On a Plane I recommend doing it all the time. Nev

    Boeing 720

Needs more take-off distance as it is underpowered . Nev
  16. You check what's in the Element mainly. Use a Magnet to sort out the steel and Iron particles Wash the others with mineral turps or kero so you can see better.. Like panning for Gold.
  17. With a New Motor Cut the Filter open at the first Oil change. If metal evident try to work out why. Some new motors can have swarf in them from inadequate cleaning before assembly. IF I found that I'd be dropping the sump and check all bearings and oil pump intake screen and let whoever supplied it Know and ask what they want done. You don't want to be caught far from Home and at the Mercy of the Local Mechanic.. Nev
  18. Flu after the war, killed more People than WW1 did. Russia had a large number of deaths from Covid. In a world where starvation is common, some die from overeating ..Nev
  19. Think I'd rather a circular rotating cutter. Those single tipped things are pretty touchy how they are sharpened.. Nev
  20. HE makes it look easy. Nev
  21. Cut it when OFF the engine so no metal can get anywhere near where the filter sits. You can easily make a dummy holder, There's only 2 thread sizes. One NF One Metric. You can check them on the web. Nev
  22. The centrifugal turning moment tries to force the Blades to fine Pitch when the prop is turning. Nev
  23. That's the Queue I usually end up on. Hey what you chokin that pick for Man? Nev
  24. Buyers dictate the price you will get for it. Supply and demand. My eldest always says. Do you WANT to sell it or NOT? Nev
