  1. You could feel the Intense radiant Heat from where I was watching. Dog knows what it could do to the Plane. The Low 9G pullouts impressed me NOT. Nev
  2. Bird wings make Aircraft wings seem crude. They also Evolved to fly well over Millions of years so are well sorted out. Nev
  3. You are being RUDE to a lot of People skip. Nev
  4. I flew for 25 years in a Major airline and can't recall any gear up landings in a major airline. . . There was a float plane at Hamilton island that water landed with the gear down. and CASA's equivalent did it a few times when they "Tested" stuff. You have to miss a lot of things to Land gear up. You do it intentionally when ditching, Nev
  5. The DC 4 and anything remotely like it used 130/145. Those motors would have to operate derated today. Nev
  6. They've been doing if for a Long time. Nev
  7. Artificially lowering the price would cause more usage and non essential mileage, that would otherwise be the case.. More fuel is now sold than is the Normal usage figure, That requires more fuel trucks and drivers which do not exist. No one carries surplus to normal requirements or they are uncompetitive. Nev
  8. Actually the People facilities and vehicle handling was atrocious. No Shade No seating and holdups and long queues everywhere and the dunnies in one Place usually with a long queue again On a Hotter day I would be unbearable and there was plenty of flies. (musca domestica). The last 1KM took 1 Hour in the vehicle to just get it Parked. Later NO SHADE No seats anywhere unless you brought one as Marty did, Which he lent to me. Nev
  9. In response to the Beechcraft. That's because of the Location of the gear Lever switch, and People selecting flaps up after Landing. (Human Factors) . I also can't see how a Spitfire with a Narrow undercarriage, dihedral and a small tail can be as capable a X wind plane as a Mustang is. Nev
  10. Why call it smug? You buy an electric car because you think it's the Best choice. When fuel is in short supply or expensive, that reinforces the suitability of your choice. Don't worry. Sales of EV''s will receive a shot in the Arm from this oil blockage. at Hormuz. Nev
  11. I do not accept it could happen to anyone. It's a perfect example of a lack of situational awareness. IF you make it IMPORTANT you won't miss it. 3 greens before Landing AND a clearance when required. I know OF people who have landed Gear up ( very few) but no pilot I ever knew has Landed gear up and that's 1,000 s. . Nev
  12. Instructors have to operate under an FTS ( Fiight Training School.) Look up the Lists of schools. Plenty of Jab 230's around. Nev
  13. There has always been a lot of uncertainty with avgas supply I doubt you can even get the Higher octane varieties. Nev
  14. It was also a great place to get sunburnt. No shade anywhere. World CLASS Aircraft Line up, Performances and also the Commentary. About twice as good as I had hoped for.. Nev
  15. I'd like to know it had no ethanol in it. Also Octane for Mogas is not directly convertible to Avgas. Avgas besides being more reliable as to content quality, has better anti knock performance for the same number. Avgas has 2 numbers Like LL100/110. Lean/rich. Nev
  16. Topic is fuel price, guys. Just a reminder. Nev
  17. How'd you find the Engine Noise level? The Build is good isn't it . Nev
  18. Also consider a lift destroying roll along the top of the wing. Nev
  19. The pressure Bulkhead is vertical with A DOOR. The Rear stairs when down and locked Prevent the Plane from sitting on its tail. That's a Fair summary, there. Compressor stalls happen to the centre Engine when strong cross winds were there on take of at Rotation and at night will Light up the aerodrome for a few Hundred yards and everyone on Board will KNOW something's Happened. The centre engine is Less efficient, because of the 'S' Duct. Lot's of redundancy with the B 727. Synchronous Electric system Ground Power. APU and 3 Generators with constant speed drives. In Those days a Twin engined Plane was quite restricted what Routes it could be operated on so operators used 3 o4 engined Planes. Normal fuel consumption was 10,600 Lbs /hour on the stretched 200 Series which was considerably trickier to Land than the Earlier 100.'s. Powerful hydraulic controls Gave very good control in rough approaches, where often quite a lot of Power from the engines was required.. I spent Just over 13 Years on them all up. No Engine failures but a few systems failures. Not due to the design or my operating skills. Got Marooned on Xmas Island once with an Engine Fuel control "O" ring failure which cost 37,000 $'s to have another flown from Perth. IF I have a Favourite Plane the B727 would be IT. Nev
  20. You would have to depressurise it first. I don't know about a Fun Jet. If you don't respect it, it will well and truly bite you.. . Nev
  21. Propellers work the same even when borders are crossed. Yesterday we signed a trade deal with the EU. Nev
  22. Storing fuel adds to the Cost of it. You can't have your cake and eat it too. The Australian Government are NOT responsible for CAUSING this situation and have little Power to Influence the Outcome of it. Face Facts. Refining crude here is More costly than sourcing it from More efficient Places. Much of the World Is in the same boat as we are and some are worse off Highly dependent on an assured supply of Oil food Medicines , electricity Labour ,Water and many other Items that we are used to finding easily on the shelves of the common outlets that we take for granted. Maybe We ain't seen nothing yet . Look to the People who ruined Rules Based Trade without thinking of the Consequences for others and the Planet. . .Nev
  23. Any Airport Fire truck I have seen or driven is Pretty Heavy. Nev.
  24. If you are looking for a lot of technical Authenticity, this "Film" may not be for you. Such "set ups" are unfortunately still with us. I did a Lot of Para legal work looking after Pilot's Interests and saved quite a few Pilot's Jobs. The Purpose of investigations should be Primarily to Prevent similar things occurring again by Improved training Better Instrumentation. More attention to Fatigue. Better Cockpit resource management. Better instrument approach practices and calls Mental illness Alcohol detection and remedial schemes. Checking methods, threat and error management. Situational awareness Human factors Training Practices etc. Sometimes I think we haven't got that far. Nev
