Yes, I have flown with them. BFR and check out flights to private hire their VH aircraft, and have found them to be good. Not the cheapest, but definitely thorough and well maintained. Have flown with their instructors and the CFI, and have enjoyed those flights. Recommended in my opinion.

Personally I have always turned the fuel pump off at around 500ft on climb out, with some possible small drop in flow. But given aircraft age and the drop not affecting the noise up front I’ve never been too bothered; that said I also don’t look at it for long since I’m at a critical phase of flight and trying to look out. I also take it as a demonstration that the pump is working, and if the engine keeps going then gravity and engine driven pumps are also going ok too. Then when I reach cruise I lean out; I tend to above 3000 if it’s a decent cruise or maybe not bother if I’m stooging about. Not sure if that’s any help, but it’s what I was taught and have tended to follow since. cheers

Sometime in the (hopefully) near future I’ll be looking at aircraft ownership again. Recently I have been flying mostly Foxbat’s and Vixxen’s after moving on from GA. Would love to hear some experienced views on Jab comparisons with other RAAus types; high or low wing. I haven’t flown a Jab but I’m baffled by how you operate the brakes and yoke in crosswind. I hope to be able to support Australian manufacturers. Ta!

It’s ironic that you have (below your posts) the words ‘never stop learning’. Yet many of your posts indicate that you shut up shop, closed your mind and stopped learning a long time ago. Case in point is your love of using capital letters; generally considered in communications to be shouting at the reader. If you wish to emphasise a point then use italics, or rarely, capitals.

While it seems RAAus is a popular thing to kick at the moment, may I ask if I’m the only one who is utterly sick of PC, social engineering, whatever you want to call it, within organisations such as RAAus, and of late their magazine. Australian Sport Pilot was once a reasonable read, but yesterday I opened the latest edition to find another article (the first was in the previous mag) claiming to be written by a not-yet teenage girl. In this day and age of so-called influencers, it’s pretty obvious what is going on: little girls mummy wants daughter to be famous (mummy wants to be famous too but will use child to achieve this), little girl is primped and preened, and camera is always ready to take a picture, mummy writes articles for little girl, little girl wants to be a pilot and drive expensive cars, but gosh so many choices. Mummy fools the RAAus team into thinking that the ‘articles’ are suitable for the magazine, and a star is born. Yeah, I get it that RAAus is trying to broaden its membership but this is ludicrous. It may be suitable for Dolly magazine, but if RAAus wants to be taken seriously they need to kick this crap down the road; they are being taken for a ride by little girls mummy.

Personally I just add it onto my AvPlan subscription. There is the option of the AOPA guide as well; is AOPA still in existence here in Australia?

Do Xair standards still sell? Was a time when they were fairly popular. It’s 20 years since I had one; loved it for the reasons you say above, including beach landings 🤭

I’m sure the councillors who were trying to shut Rex down were there leading the removal process off the runway to allow the airport to resume operations……..
