  1. Make it so as you land on or near a road in the Outback. Nev
  2. THINK about it. You HAVE to deal with them. You have no other OPTION in the current circumstances. Nev
  3. They are a nightmare. Even getting the Spark plugs out can be difficult. Even Banner towing over the Beach makes steel fins rust off the cylinders. Nev
  4. Yes . You have mentioned THAT once or twice. It's not everything for everybody. I've done plenty of cross countries in Tiger Moths. and the CITBRIA I OWNED. I like a plane to be aerobatic, quiet and comfortable and easily repaired. We are ALL different. Nev
  5. Stalls should NOT scare you whatever the Wing does. You should be wary of getting into one unprepared. I doubt you have been taught Properly. The course is inadequate. Just box ticking. Nev
  6. Yes a GOOD VISIBILITY Colour. Nev
  7. Nice to have a day Off "contemplating" Nature. Nev
  8. Plenty don't, but it Pays to. Salt is Like cancer to Aluminium and unprotected steel. Nev
  9. You are slowing things down for your self. Nev
  10. Full flying tails perched at the top if a slim fin. Not for ME thanks. The more conventional Cessna product Looks better. Not sure that RED Lycoming derivative, was a Howling success. Stroked from the original. ALL BIG Money . Nev
  11. ALL fun till the RUST starts. Nev
  12. This sort of thing doesn't confine itself to Governments. Optus is NOT a Gov't organisation Nor is any government worthy of the NAME able or likely to influence directly the result of Professional advice. They can choose to IGNORE it. Which should have to be explained to the Board of Directors and shareholders. Who wrote the TERMS of REFERRENCE is a good question? Nev
  13. Learning is a complex process. If something is not consolidated, it's not going to Last Long. ROTE learning is one of the Least effective methods.. A schematic of say, a fuel system is better than a Book of words describing it . One where you can Move virtual levers and see where the fuel flows is even better. Same with Hydraulic systems and electrical circuits. . Nev
  14. When you are forced to deal with them (which is the Problem) One or two slowing it down only hurts themselves. Nev
  15. That's not right. There are Planes at HARS and DARWIN that flew there but will never fly again. Nev
  16. You have the ability to "sense" these things by how they LOOK do you? Amazing. ! You have to be kidding. ALL planes have faults. Proper Inspection and Maintenance Keeps them safe especially WHEN they have been flying for a Long time. The Comet looked Pretty but was Fatally weak in the structure particularly the forward Part of the fuselage.. Nev
  17. It is said, " A picture is worth a thousand words" especially to those with a Photographic Memory. Nev
  18. I'm sure that will Help. Nev
  19. Good sign of the right approach. Spending Money on training. Nev
  20. Thunder clouds forming. Nev
  21. IF it works, you can look out through it too. Nev
  22. Why would a dead engine fall away? That's NOT how it works. It's an extreme situation of stress/load for an engine to detach. There could be Maintenance Procedure Issues involved Metal fatigue Violent engine failure where the rotational Inertia of the engines internals is involved. "Flywheel effect", when an engine seizes involves LARGE forces. Nev
  23. It can't be designed to fail and also Have redundancy. There's NO Logic in that. Nev
  24. Whatever previous training He has done will be thoroughly gone over again. That sort of thing happens also with "some" Type endorsements. I t's not unknown for experienced Pilots to FAIL some endorsements. NOT helpful to your Flying career. Nev
