  1. How does it handle gusts and how efficient are those Large props in cruise? Doesn't need much of a landing field or Brakes. Nev
  2. What's the safe manouvering speed, clean? All these planes have alternate means of extending the flaps for a good reason. Also the nose high approach attitude would easily Produce a tail ground strike. Dog knows what runway length would be required and you'd certainly have brake fires likely as even from an abort at V1 at max wt that is a likely outcome. You'd have about double the energy to dissipate. Nev
  3. The quicker you die, the Less Pain you will feel. When you go fast you get lost quicker. When you are up high it always feels slow. High TAS and you feel Turbulence harder. Double the speed needs 4 x the energy. nev
  4. Even IF you spent weeks on courses with out significant experience on motors you have no more than a bit of an idea how it should be done. Even LAME s muck some things up. Working on YOUR OWN Plane is a good idea as you are the one dependent on it but the job must still be 100% right. It's an AEROPLANE not a Lawnmower, and your LIFE depends on it working. IF you aren't SURE check with someone who knows. Nev
  5. I presumed it was a Jet. There's a Massive speed difference with them , flapless. Nev
  6. I'd probably be "disappeared" by Don the DICktator Poo Bah. Nev
  7. "Without Flaps" would be dramatically fast (over tire limit speed) with very FLAT approach. There is usually an alternate method of flap extension.. Nev
  8. Neither of them use a fin that energises the rudder. Tailwheelers need an effective rudder. Nev
  9. It's inevitably going to resemble one but there are differences. U/C may be damped Flaps are hinged and no doubt lots of other little differences in the construction. Nev
  10. Look up under "Jabiru Approved Maintainers". Nev
  11. Pretty crap metal for that to happen and better if it was wound progressive or conical to avoid harmonics. Nev
  12. I can't see how "In Command" of an aeroplane is so hard to understand. The buck stops with YOU. Nev
  13. Bit dicey mucking around with Molten lead. Buy a LEAD strip say 3 x 80 MM and fold it to a convenient size and drill holes in it for securing. The damping doesn't work if it's not fixed in one spot . The right mass and the right distance from the Hinge axis with no FLEXING of the structure. Nev
  14. I don't think you want STUFF rattling around. A balance weight is Normally a solid thing, firmly attached to function properly. Nev
  15. Over TIGER Country your engine MUST keep running also. Nev
  16. Got marooned on Cocos Once, with a leaking FCU on My B727. Had to overnight, while it was fixed and engine ground run about 5 am next Morning, with a new "O" ring flown there, at a cost of 37,000 dollars. The ONLY time I'd not taken my overnight gear and civvies with me. (THAT proved I did not PLAN it despite the Likely Rumours). Borrowed some clothes from the Administrators Husband, gratefully accepted. The Place is right out in the Middle of the Indian Ocean and about 15 feet AMSL. Nev
  17. Freezing level and visibility and LSALT. Ice will bring you down fast. Don't find out the Hard way. Nev
  18. A body has been found near the Plane (indentity not yet confirmed but Presumed to be that of the Pilot) and the Plane is extensively damaged. Not recognisable as an aircraft. Quote. Nev
  19. I can only suggest that is a spacer and the stud/bolt is too long. Balance the wheels on level knife edges on a suitable mandrel. Some of those Jabiru wheels have excess Camber. I think that is corrected by a wedge. Jabiru used to have a lot of this stuff on Line. Nev
  20. IF you want Hand-eye coordination you first need to open your eyes. " I see" said the Blind man. Nev
  21. Metric is UN American but it's used by the World's Scientists. Nev
  22. There's a UNFF too. Metric can have any Pitch you specify. It's on the Tap/Die. Dia and pitch. Nev
  23. Pelicans and Frigate birds are of a higher order when Mass comes into it. Nev
