  1. OK for shorter trips Maybe. FAST Rail would make it unnecessary/uneconomic. Nev
  2. You still NO what I Mean. Nev
  3. Nice till the salt gets at them. Nev
  4. Even "BIG STUFF" gets affected by winds. Be alert and avoid. Nev
  5. People don't want planes flying around their proximity. More responsive to a "Greased Palm" for a new subdivision which increases Rate income. Nev
  6. It's banked and designed for the water to soak into the ground and could be very muddy. It's not an efficient method of irrigating. Nev
  7. The cat is now well and truly amongst the Pidgeons, Nev
  8. Better to stick to tracks or you might pull up quicker than you hoped. Nev
  9. Yes but you can't really advocate Breaking the LAW Publicly. A STRIP on a Farm is a Fallowed Paddock. I've ferried serviced Planes to them and taxied up to the Verandah. RAAs Have Empire Built. Called themselves the "NEW GA" ! THAT went down like the Proverbial Lead BALLOON with the rest of the AVIATION Fraternity and I believe RAAus have dropped the BALL. Nice to hear from and Old friend ALF JESSUP and I entirely share his sentiments. There's too much BS and you don't get enough BANG for your Bucks. EXP VH was always the way to go. . Modifying any Plane is a crock otherwise. Even adding a throttle friction device to something. Nev
  10. It's NOT reasonable to expect to Pay nothing. AVDATA is a secret Deal that does not pass the PUB test that you have NO OPTION but pay up. I doubt it's LEGAL if it was put to the test.. Another reason to give up flying. We need to get the BS removed. CASA wanted AUF/ RAAus to lower their workload and responsibilities and Liabilities. Doesn't really work with aviation. That's now proven. Nev
  11. Rub the Councils nose in the Cat$#1t and you might just as well leave town. Nev
  12. Rotax always specified Air cooled 2 stroke oils because of high Piston Temperatures. I don't believe you can just say One brand is better than another. It's a matter of choosing the correct type of oil for your particular Purpose. Shake and roll around ALL oil containers before getting any oil out of them as well. ALWAYS warm up your engine before take of as it reduces fuel washing the Oil film off the surfaces as well as other benefits like piston clearance and cylinder warpage. Nev
  13. The wind change was frontal and there were Plenty of trees and Powerlines down. Storms are cells. Someone 4Kms away may get a deluge and you get nothing . More likely to be intense in Tropical areas .WE rarely get heavy rain from the south in Victoria. Nev
  14. Castrol is "handled" by BP these days. Wakefield Castrol as we knew it is no more. 2T is an old spec for Lawn Mowers etc I would go for something better in an Aircraft motor. A Rotax 618 is over 100 Hp/ Litre. My son Races with MOTOR EX as OK for Husqvarna/KTM. Nev
  15. They had a pretty good BIG magnetic compass's too and you had to KNOW your turning and acceleration Errors. Flying on LIMITED PANEL had to be mastered. I used to PRACTICE IT on the F27, too. Quite Tiring. Nev
  16. Lot of traffic near some places using different frequencies North of Brisbane and issues with RPT into Ballina getting low. Nev
  17. SOME crudes are better than Others for Lube Oil. One good example is Pennsylvanian crude Synthetic has many bases eg ESTER based. SOME synthetics way back didn't give much Protection from Oxidisation in 2 strokes and were avoided. Today SOME/Most syn and Mineral oils will mix so you can get Part synthetic and the syn is made from LPG. Most crude has a Lot of sulphur which is highly corrosive when oxidised and the Mixed with water. It has ALMOST been eliminated from the Best Oi/fuel countries, LPG also has impurities but is removed during the manufacturing process. Thickening oils is generally done by adding Polymers which are Plastic like Particles which have a finite Life in lube oils. It would be good if ALL engines were Pre-Pressurised with oil to reduce the damage of dry starts. Nev
  18. A spinning Plane doesn't pull much G until the recovery dive Pull out. Most Aerobatic Planes have G meters that record a MAX figure. Nev
  19. IF you want to go over big Hills you do need a boosted engine.. Nev
  20. All will be revealed. There should be plenty of Data and evidence. Nev
  21. The ball is the Opposite of a Spirit Level. The coloured fluid damps it movement . It indicates skid or slip. To indicate turn rate you need a Gyro.. Level it relative to the Planes wings to set it up on the ground . Some gyros can be electronic. Nev
  22. A were a Lot of them at Williamtown RAAF Base before the Sabres and a few RNAC Pilots had a fly of them. No particular Vices and no Swing on take off. Not a lot of Endurance. Goblin Motor. Centrifugal compressor Low thrust and doesn't stall. Nev
