  1. My poorly worded post was to mean steel the most cost effective by far and that s/s can have failure issues that are not visible. Both will give a long in use life. Cheers.
  2. 316 gives no indication of pending failure and if used would need to be replaced in a shorter time compared to gal steel rope; (sail boat rigging, inspection and replacement intervals is a good indication).
  3. On a side comment it doesn't look like the gascolator bowl securing has been safety wired to prevent loosening.
  4. On the 26th November at Narromine this year the cable failed unfortunately damaging two gliders. (Cable was likely overdue for replacement.)
  5. Good to hear a few aircraft in the air today in the Pioneer Valley area West of Mackay. Jabiru, C182, two Bristelles, Savannah, Cherokee and a Nynja. Maybe a Gazelle at Turtle park? Only a couple painted on Ozrunways and Skyecho2 The sky was clear. IMG_7653.mov
  6. There are fireproof paints that are used on the interior of our types of aircraft construction. PM if you want details of one product used over here.
  7. Started this topic to share where SkyRangers and Nynja's are flown. First up is a bit long but shows the area between Gladstone and Makay in Queensland during May with the trip to 'The Old Station Flyin 2022'. Grab a cuppa or coldie and hopefully enjoy. https://youtu.be/AiMw9HTTvwA

  8. Agree, just the depth and amount that changes, sadly for us. 🙃😁🏏
  9. Sometimes you need to re state what you have records wise and what you want to achieve, at times may not digest the information while on the phone. Best to email the question with any supporting info you believe is necessary and then phone so it allows the necessary time to give an answer, this considers what they have on the desk to do and what they have just one. They are busy sorting aviation stuff for us. They are for us and helping us within the rules.
  10. Thanks for info, I have downloaded the app and will trail next few flights. A mate said he can't get on his android. is that coming?
  11. The requirement for the respective 2 and 3 axis BFR's in alternate two year periods has been in existence for many years, well before the mentioned event.
  12. I recall a friend telling me he had a bfr knocked back as he had to do specific bfr each other two years when due; I don't recall if it was 2 axis / 3 axis or his water endorsement. Only occurred in last two or so years.
  13. Not much to go on but looking at the metal piece attached to the bottom of the duct which may be a heat shield and therefore perhaps a cracked exhaust or exhaust flange failure has allowed exhaust heat gas to directly affect the duct. Looks like higher temp degrading the right side of the duct prior to the duct structure collapsing in its softened state.
  14. Haven't flown since then, reckon you have had some nice flights in your Jaffa (Xair)🙃 Just showing the different aircraft up this way. Cheers.
  15. Great advice to follow about what filament is not suitable. I'm sure the supplier will get onto things, likely need to do a recall on others in service /use. Thanks for posting.
  16. PM your phone contact when arrived, I'm in Mackay (9 hours south of Port Douglas) also check on facebook Burdekin Flyers (6 hours south of Port Douglas) and Whitsunday Flyers (8 hours drive south of Port Douglas) That will get some connections for you. Image of recent catchup two weekends ago. Enjoyed an overnighter in the Nynja with Sandy at our favourite bbq beach site catching up pre Xmas with flying friends then an early start back to Palmyra for the Mackay Aero Club bbq event. Hazy skies due to our bush fire season. Evening was cool due to 16 Knot ESE breeze and that was welcome after the warm day. IMG_7439.mov80.26 MB · 2 downloads
  17. Informative video of the comparison.
  18. Definition - A drone pilot is an individual who is trained and authorized to operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones. These skilled professionals control the flight and maneuvers of drones using remote controls or computer systems. They are responsible for ensuring the safe and successful operation of drones and capturing high-quality aerial footage. Therefore I'm happy if they can call themselves a 'Drone Pilot'.
  19. Being reported that the two aircraft were part of four involved in an acrobatic formation flight and were returning to land at the airfield when the collision occurred. Very sad.
  20. Media reporting an Aircraft crash wedderburn nsw The incident occurred near Napperfield Airfield in Wedderburn, NSW, where two light planes collided mid-air. One plane crashed into nearby bushland, and the pilot, who was the sole occupant, was killed. The other plane landed safely at the airfield, and the pilot was uninjured. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is investigating the crash. Members of the public are urged to avoid the area until further notice. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=5d6a2e752d51344c6ec6558db2afb2f42578859991fa71ce16d19402c6d6297cJmltdHM9MTc2NDM3NDQwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=2b581518-e478-6b47-2b1e-00b0e5946ae8&psq=aircraft+crash+wedderburn+nsw&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly83bmV3cy5jb20uYXUvbmV3cy9waWxvdC1raWxsZWQtYXMtdHdvLXBsYW5lcy1jb2xsaWRlLW1pZC1haXItaW4td2VkZGVyYnVybi1pbi1zeWRuZXlzLXNvdXRod2VzdC0tYy0yMDg0MjU5OA
