  1. Nice, yes looks like from certain assembly lines, so not all build lines. I'm still waiting to talk to Floods as my friends is not listed. He’s sending me the email he got answering his query when home tonight. His serial number 90408 is not in the list it’s on a 912ULS
  2. Thanks Danny I'm just curious as my friend did not get any info on what his next step is. Engine was fitted Feb 2025 and bought I guess late 2024. I have a call message to Floods asking if Harry or someone can call back when free and gave them the owners name as he emailed them last week. I'll post anything I hear. Cheers.
  3. My friend sent a question to Bert Floods as engine purchased last year and it is affected. They did not say what was needed or where to get it done. I can't find any info about what is required. Remove gearbox and send away? Anyone know what's required. He will likely contact Floods again or Wal.
  4. That is good and will be better when more available for the R and J pilots who currently use 98 or 95.
  5. Maybe they will supply say a regulated 98 in similar supply, transport and storage to how Avgas is done; that way the blend will be 100%.
  6. OK, understand, Just see how the owner configures it when he flys a demo flight for you, if there is a mass in the cargo area ask why.
  7. The RAAus pilots will achieve the same standard of procedures to access the airspace as others who have the endorsement, the aircraft will be equipped and the equipment tested to the required standard, so its responsibility of the pilot to fly within the airspace according to the rules. Any cowboys will be delt with; hope there are none doing the wrong thing.
  8. What is the matter your addressing? For example I have seen Jab 230's have lead shot / epoxy added aft due to not being able to get the nose up as desired at roundout / speed decaying and that is not a normal situation for 230's when rigged and balanced correctly. This was being done by an experienced Jab person; don't do it without seeking expert advice though. Is the elevator deflection up and also down as per the build manual. (This would be a first check, they have a pattern tool to check them. Perhaps Up is below spec? Have you contacted the factory with details of your matter, they will assist with good information, I'm sure. (If you PM me I'l ask my friend who has helped with 230's if he is happy to talk to you, I sure he will.)
  9. 2026 starts soon, nice youtube from 2025.
  10. On 8th April 2015 the second generation blend of the Sport Plus 4 oil was advised; likely due to market requirements and / or engine needs to better reaching the TBO in good order.
  11. Seems they came in line and improved the existing Sport Plus 4 oil blend in 2015 to the market.
  12. Sportplus 4 oil new formulation.pdf Sportplus 4 oil new formulation.pdf My reference is to pre March 2015, Shell introduced AeroShell Sport Plus 4, the earlier AeroShell Sport Plus4 oil.
  13. I suspect the reason Shell changed the Sportplus4 blend 12 or so years ago was due to the effect on the gearbox performance, at the time I thought it was a bit poor that they did not change the brand name (reckon they should at least called it Sportplus4 extra or something to distinguish it from the earlier blend that was in a black bottle and no longer suitable. This then saw the automotive similar grades now being not suitable anymore.
  14. That was likely back at the period when the blend of the Sport Plus 4 was altered by shell, black bottles to the red bottle. At the time it was strange that the sport plus 4 blend was changes and the branding retained. Then the high quality motorcycle oils became inappropriate.
  15. Found this video of flying with Ross and having a rum as thanks for the fly. P1010193 Ross M landing Old Sation.MOV
  16. Agree absolutely, Rotax oil is not just for the engine; it also for the gearbox and as such has certain blend requirements; everyone operating a Rotax 9XX series should not listen to this authors rant. Raa is correct in advice as it reaffirms Rotax instructions and the aircraft oil can is to be labelled with the oil in use and not mix oils.
  17. Agree , still in early evolvement / design phase. However would be a sound design. now a few to choose from in the kit / price band.
  18. I'd do a w&b, do the cofg calcs for loads and compare with its most recent and original weighing report, 5 kg / percentage max will determine next steps.
  19. A friend who has a new engine I installed has asked me and a search in the document finds his g/box model and s/n not listed and engine not listed. Let a message to him to that effect and I'll ask him to send his model / serial numbers to Floods to verify100% as well. Nice yours is good to go as well.
  20. Would be nice if you could enter your engine and gearbox number into a Rotax search and receive all applicable notices and then compare then with log and maintenance history of the unit. The search in a simpler format to what we can do now (the present method with an AI driver.)
  21. CKT and now Spencer use good aerospace stainless steel grade similar to what is used in jet engines. CKT people came from the aerospace industry experience.
