  1. I have never had trouble with them either but it doesn't hurt to look at new options . They might be as good as they say or they might not.
  2. That is just a collection of comments off different forums. I have already come across some of them. Smartcarb actually list light aircraft and paramotors as suitable for it. Chat gtp doesn't realise Rotax have never made a certified 2 stroke aircraft engine. It's a big f##king warning in your operating manual and service manual. The comment about not going to full throttle when the cable breaks could be fixed with a spring. That one came from a know all on an American forum who could not think of anything else. It's the lubrication that concerns me.
  3. That's not true. It's how efficient the engine is. Modern injected 2 stroke outboards use a fraction of the fuel the old ones did for the same horsepower. Same with trucks and a lot of cars.
  4. There claim is superior atomisation that sets them apart from bing carbs.
  5. I like oil injection. Because I mostly run on av gas. No Mogas at West sale. I only top up the oil tank every 5 or 6 engine hours. I was using Jerry cans with 200ml of oil mixed in until I was sure the injection pump was drawing oil out of the tank. I like the idea of the smart carb saving fuel but as stated above I can't get my head around leaning out a 2 stroke. Unless 25 to 30 percent is going out the exhaust unburnt.
  6. reading a couple of reviews i found , they said they saved fuel but how would it effect a 2 stroke with 30% less oil. as i said above the fuel injected 2 strokes pump oil to the critical areas .

  8. CloudForge Venturi™ The SmartCarb's patented CloudForge™ venturi shape lofts and focuses airflow directly at the metering rod, maximizing fuel pickup, atomization, and performance at every throttle position
  9. these are smartcarb brand carbys. they are claiming fuel economy and emissions equal to fuel injected 2 strokes. supposed to be getting great results on 582 rotax. their main clientele are dirtbike racers. what i would like to know is if they save up to 30 percent fuel how does it effect the lubrication of a 2 stroke. fuel injected 2 strokes like the etec outboard pump oil directly to the crank and cylinders. these carbs have no jetting either.
  10. A bit aggressive Skippy. Did you get up on the wrong side of the sonex today
  11. You have quite often remarked on Rotax being badly designed and having all sorts of faults which just don't happen in the real world. It's extremely rare for you to post a positive comment about Rotax nev. I would agree with you if there were broken 912s everywhere but there isn't. You can buy a 2000 hour flight school engine and run it trouble free for years in a private aircraft. mark said they don't do any balancing but to me it just says there engineering is excellent which even you admitted earlier.
  12. Another Curtis valve. Genuine Curtis brand
  13. I replaced my Curtis valve. Not cheap at $54 but now it's always dry under the plane. Used to be greeted by a big wet patch on the floor each weekend. Didn't like that when av gas is $2.80 p/l
  14. It's pretty rare for efi to give much trouble these days. In saying that, if you seen the Birdsnest of wiring and crap on my hks engine you would never put it on an aircraft.
  15. That was me, you can say it. If you can't beat em. Join em😁.
  16. An engineer from Kenworth told me the Datsun 1600 was a BMW copy and they were a better car. He was from Kenworth though not Datsun. On the highway between sale and Stratford is an old garage. Local rumour is that the owner was the original importer of datsun and he made his fortune off royaltys
  17. 912is does away with all this drama
  18. where can i look up your information. i have never heard of the 180b being a merc copy. i know the datsun 1600 was copied off a bmw and a lot of people say it was better than the bmw. ford bought into mazda when the rotary nearly broke them
  19. He only needed a tooth count. I know the 700e and 700t use different ratios but he may be able to supply a drive gear and driven gear in 700 e ratio anyway. Otherwise I can flog it off for parts. It's only something to play with.
  20. Waiting on the agent in America to get back to me. He is going to see if he has the gear. Being a turbo there are quite a few differences to the na version which he has everything for.
  21. never seen so much wiring for a small engine, weighs a few kilos on its own.
  22. tryed to turn over the hks today and it was locked solid. seems it came out of a wreck i thought i better pull the gearbox and have a look. its not too healthy. broken reduction gear. interesting thing is it has a slipper clutch, didn't save the gear though.
  23. who cares that you could make a 1920s car backfire. i used to have respect for you but not after the shit you said about me earlier. accusing me of being on here with different names.
