    i did flightless flights up and down the airstrip on saturday. it just wouldn't leave the ground.

    i don't think he was having a go at your comment. more about how they sludged up so much. another place i worked at had a nissan 720 that was just as bad as the hilux for sludge.

    a Bunyip sold on facebook last year in bendigo. it was all set up on a custom trailer. $2000. better in a museum than the air though.

    i had a hilux work ute on a minesite years ago. it only ran up and down from the workshop to the pit so it never had any decent runs at op temp. a couple of times when i changed the oil i could hold the oil filter upside down with no oil coming out it would sludge up so bad. we would idle it on a mix of diesel and oil for 20 minutes then drop that and put new filter and fresh oil in. off it would go for another few weeks.

    I know it's not the recommended way but it works the same. I do agree pulling through by hand is the way to check compression. I ever said you came down in the last shower unless the last shower was a really really really really really really really long time ago 😀

    It works fine unless you have the combo mag and start key switch

    Hit the starter for a few seconds with mags off that will burp it I always did it by hand until an instructor showed me that trick

    that was a terrible loss. i had the option to buy that jabiru before it went to the oaks. wish i had now. it just shows how dangerous our hobby can be. wrong place at the wrong time is all it takes.

    i go to floods warehouse and get what i need but it helps to have the part number because the young people there struggle to find what you need. i asked for a rotax 618 carb socket and was told they don't do motorcycle engines😁

    How many hours does the average rec pilot do a year, not many. Buy genuine and be done with it Skippy carries on like he has to buy one every week.

    i am as tightarse as anyone but i believe an aircraft engine is not something to skimp on. the oil filter with the rotax label is made to their requirements even if it is by another company. just because another brand looks the same does not mean it is.
