    I am pretty sure they told me you have to be doing an raaus related activity. As in flying an raaus registered aircraft. Even though the insurance covers the member not the aircraft.

    Ring Geoff tonkins at insurance house. He put the raaus insurance package together. He will answer all your questions. The third party does work well. When the Jabiru went through the side of the hangar at Goolwa a while back. The raa insurance paid out everything straight away.

    It's not just raa. We members have the 20 mil p/l. I have asked the raa broker and he confirmed it. The passenger limit is not enough but the passenger is flying at their own risk. That's why we have fly at own risk decals on the panel.

    on the video they were concerned about flutter . on an airliner doing 500 knts does the skin heat up from friction even at those temps

    The flight is done and dusted without any problems so no point speculating on what could happen. I doubt it will be done again any time soon.

    When I was in los Angeles a month ago there were so many driverless taxis and delivery robots running around they don't even get a second look. Just part of the normal scene. And to watch the waygo taxis running around is impressive. One pulled up near us and did a quick u turn as soon as the traffic allowed him too. Amazing to see.

    I probably used the wrong words. I still had my feet firmly on the pedals. Just let the plane crab / weather cock into the wind with wings level and straighten out before touchdown wind side wheel contacting the runway first. This was with an instructor with decades of teaching people, I didn't teach myself.

    When I worked on a charter boat the person in charge of the bait station was the masterbaiter.

    Why did they do that. I spoke to an ag pilot years ago . He said the cotton crop made the horizon hard to make out when flying over it so low at night.

    The xair has no flaps but tons of drag. I can hit the piano keys at 300 ft high and cut the throttle and drop down quickly. It's like putting the brakes on. I try to come in high for that reason. If I tried a long shallow approach like normal ac I would land half a mile short if the Rotax quit. 😁

    Did lots of crosswind landings at tooradin. Almost every landing is and yes crabbed in there on quite an angle then straighten up before touchdown. Never thought of it as a slip though. Just relaxed feet on the rudder and let the AC weathercock

    Actually if you do some searching you will find a company in the US that is broad acre spraying with drones. I think they have 3 working at a time. Nice setup on a custom built semi .

    If saying don't get him started on Rotax is nasty I am guilty. I didn't think it was that bad. I think this is one of the best behaved groups on the net. We have a few digs but for the most part everyone gets along fine. You give out lots of good information and great stories from your flying days but you are very dismissive of anyone else's opinion. But it's not the end of the world.

    Rubbish was probably the wrong word. I just think you are writing drones off without allowing for the technology advances. They will only get bigger and better.
