    I don't know if it made the news at home but last week a medivac chopper crashed into the ocean and 3 lives were lost shortly after takeoff at Catalina island ,California. On the news tonight it was revealed another medivac left the same helipad minutes before and dropped 75 ft , that one submerged the skids and hit the belly on the water before the pilot regained control and flew safely back to la. Investigators are saying both pilots were using night vision goggles but the night was too dark for them to work effectively causing both pilots to lose sight of the horizon and get disoriented.

    that happened to me 2 weeks ago. i purchased an item from ferntree gully , next day it was at sunshine sorting facility then melbourne airport then adelaide sorting facility then melbourne airport, back to sunshine then dandenong and morwell before it got to stratford. pretty good effort seems it started off 200km from my place.

    what a busy area to operate in. wouldn't suprise me if casa kick all rec pilots out of the sydney area eventually. they don't like us to start with.

    So as rec pilots we should do years of commercial bak . We are given the tools we need to fly safely in our envelope. you were an raaus instructor you should know exactly what is in the raa syllabus. Turbo asked about circuit accidents,I mentioned the stall spin accidents which seem to be a common killer of pilots. Too slow in a turn or correcting an overshoot.

    Correcting is not point scoring. And I assume you are talking about stall spins when getting too slow on base to final turns or overshooting and trying to pull the aircraft back on line.

    Turbo stated that rpc holders did not do bak. I corrected him and you get all that out of it.

    To say that us rpc holders were given a certificate with no bak is going to get reactions .

    For someone who constantly tells people to research everything you don't follow your own advice. Saying raaus don't teach bak is very condescending and misinformed.

    watched the whole thing this morning. loved it. i watched it a couple of years back too. they were struggling from the start with thrusters , but they got there eventually
