  1. Raaus recommend RPC holders do upset recovery course. And raaus put out a series of videos on the subject.
  2. My instructor showed me a little but not developed spins or spirals because we are not allowed. Raaus wants to be the new ga but there is no real training to address unusual attitudes. (If this is the correct term). Maybe they should put a couple of hours with a ga aerobatic instructor in the syllabus. And before anyone says it I realise that is a ga plane in the crash . Just thinking out loud about raa training.
  3. Just watched the video on the news. Is that called a spiral dive or a spin. It was vertical.
  4. I understand that but I can't see how joiners would collapse.
  5. You blokes do know blue is using rubber /silicone joiners not lengths of hose. Pretty sure he couldn't give a st#ff what happens in a cooling system 🤣
  6. You take it off once the motor fires ,😅
  7. how did it cause the accident.. did it jam the elevator down
  8. commodore v6 was buick.
  9. why does this stuff happen to airlines like air india and not qantas or the other carriers with good reputations.
  10. Good idea. Red750 might be able to move it and give it a title
  11. . for a start its 170 hp , thats one option. the company that was modifying mercedes diesels for aircraft was taken over by continental and now they build the complete engine but it is still based on the mercedes design.
  12. seven marine have ls chev v8 outboards. closed loop cooling. i think the mercury 600 hp v12 outboard is closed loop to.
  13. According to the above video. Continental are building the engine from scratch now. Still based on mercedes car engine.
  14. https://youtu.be/trDivLehPaA?si=ERh6B1QX0NlkM_OR
  15. Not sure. There was a video on YouTube the other day. I will try and find it again.
  16. There is a successful car engine in a certified aircraft. The tecnam diesel uses a Mercedes diesel
  17. This one came from America fitted with a Stratos aviation Subaru ea81. He is hoping to fit a 912 and use the suby in a big airboat he has. Probably a good place for it after all the Subaru talk lately. Although I don't think ea 81 s give much trouble.
  18. yes i use oz runways. the highest i fly is 2000 ft. usually 500 to 1000. it still amazes me how much stronger the wind can be even 200 ft off the ground some days. before christmas one saturday i was flying over becalmed sailboats on lake wellington and i had a 15 knt headwind at 500 ft above them.
  19. you don't have a clue what its like. if its built for use in china it might be top quality. my father said when he lived in china most stuff was good quality. they must send all the crap to us. as jimmy would say. what could possibly go wrong.😁
  20. the latest craze in america is the aussie ford barra 6. they love hotting them up. 1500 reliable hp is achievable with them.
  21. what is the version you are talking about. ls chevs come in lots of variations. hsv commodores had up to 5 or 600 hp.
  22. wondering if anyone on here would know if a 912 engine mount for a gazelle or kitfox would fit an avid flyer. they are all variations of the same basic design. chasing one for an avid flyer. currently has a subiru which the owner wants to change out for a 912.
  23. glider tugs would be a tiny minority of chev powered aircraft. There are quite a few different aircraft powered by them. There is a canard pusher ,I forget the name of them . A lot of titan mustangs. Cessna 172s. The Vickers Vimy replica had 4 of them. John Williams the owner of titan aircraft died last year in a chev powered mustang. The new propeller exploded while doing a demonstration flight . A car pulled out onto the only road he could land on so he forfeited his own life rather than crash into his neighbour in the car. Nothing to do with the topic but a tribute to a brave pilot.
  24. In another post I did mention Honda,Suzuki and chev have been used successfully in aircraft. I know someone with a 150 HP Suzuki V6 in a titan mustang that has been very reliable so far .
  25. I was actually responding to one-track talking about how unreliable car engines are. Nothing to do with aircraft
