  1. Well you know everything thing. I know what I know which is jack shit according to you and another on here so I won't try to change your mind. You can laugh at my posts if you want. At long as it entertains you.😁
  2. Who said they have to run 2000 hrs. You could replace those engines at 1000 hrs with the cost savings. How many hrs do you do a year. Recreational pilots do fa. I try to do 2 or 3 hrs per week so I am only doing 150 hrs a year and I fly more than anyone at my airfield. So by the time I got an engine to 2000 hrs I would be too old to fly anyway.
  3. You always talk about how bad car engines are yet most never give any trouble. A while back you told me my Commodore as was a heap of shit yet at 210,000 km now and it's never had a spanner on it except for services. I have owned dozens of Ford's and Holden's and never a problem except for a wiring problem in a vs 5 litre. I have a V6 turbo diesel territory that is at 216000 now and never misses a beat. All companies have recalls because they are cheaper than changing a production line. When I worked at Stillwell ford the old blokes told me the xy was the perfect Falcon. No recalls or problems at all.
  4. Honda , Suzuki and chev conversions have been successful.
  5. I will download the app. I need to renew my naips too. That has wind charts too doesn't it.
  6. I wrote a scathing reply to you and one-track but put it in the wrong thread. I can't be bothered writing it again. I only wanted to know about fitting new ends on probe leads not get lectured .
  7. Rotax is water-cooled too. Outboards can work very hard for extended periods like an aircraft engine. What I am saying is a well maintained engine shouldn't have egt problems if set up correctly and not overloaded. I will be replacing my probes anyway.
  8. Had a pleasant 90 minute flight yesterday. Very calm but low cloud base. Today was a different story. Wind was 9 knts almost straight down the runway, so I thought I would do a circuit or two, takeoff was fine got to 300 ft and the turbulence off the trees and buildings was throwing me all over the place, turned downwind and was doing 75 knts across the ground with half throttle. I started thinking how much fun RC models are. It was the roughest ride I have had so far. Got down safely, I was tempted to go around again but thought better of it. Just because it looks ok on the ground the wind can be a hell of a lot stronger a few hundred feet up.
  9. I don't think calling people dogs is helping. It's extremely insulting even though I don't think that's your intention
  10. I think a well maintained 2 stroke. As in clean fuel system and no air leaks. And not lugged is fine without egt gauge. Never had them on outboards and motorbikes.
  11. In your profile page
  12. I agree. I think the water temp gauge is more important.
  13. I think I will switch back to 98 from the servo. The avgas Bowser is too easy. Traralgon has a Mogas Bowser but we only have avgas at West sale. Not enough aircraft here to make it viable.
  14. I started getting a bit of rough running at 3000 rpm and I think this was the cause . I let these plugs run longer being iridium. Now I will pull them for a clean each 25 hr service and they should good.
  15. Pulled the plugs out of the 618 for an inspection today and got a fright. Plugs have a build up of a whitish colour material on them. Thought I was losing material off the pistons for a second. Then it dawned on me. Is this lead from avgas. I have run on avgas the last few tanks because I am too lazy to fill my Jerry cans. Checked the rave valves ,they slide smooth and easy. Next weekend I will remove the exhaust and have a look at the rings. Spark plugs are iridium and have done 43 hours. Look like new again after a quick brush. All 4 plugs were identical so I take it that's a good sign.
  16. These were working but the wiring kept falling off the back of the gauge. Thought I would crimp them a bit but the ends broke. Very old and brittle.
  17. I know what they are o/t. Just wondered if anyone had replaced the ends on them. I realise I will probably have to get new probes. And yes aircraft spruce are the place to get them. Only 15 minutes from my flat.
  18. My egt wiring has 2 broken connectors. These instruments work on millivolts so I think I have to buy new probes because it would be difficult to replace the ends. Am I right or wrong.
  19. I didn't say you don't make any good points. Actually I won't argue. Thanks anyway 😁
  20. It's really not that expensive. Even a rag and tube kit like my xair won't give you any change out of 50k with engine and instruments these days. And you still have to build it.
  21. Skips quest to have the last word makes these threads go on for ages.😁
  22. What's so strange . You said the spirit would become a hangar queen in your rant. I was answering you
