  1. its all automatic. you push the stick and off you go. jumpstart gyros have been around for 60 years. not showing off or dangerous. this mculloch had jump start in 1962. very successful machine and sought after even today. and a gust of wind has almost no effect. gyros fly when fw are grounded.
  2. They have slightly adjustable rotor pitch. Spin up rotors to 500 rpm at 0 pitch then tilts the rotors 4 degrees for lift off at the same time it disengages the prerotator because you can't have any rotational torque after the wheels leave the ground.
  3. It doesn't effect me. I don't have a 912 but I do know people that run them like that with no issues. But maybe there cowls get lots of airflow so temp is not much more than ambient.
  4. there are a lot of cowled 912s running cone air filters straight on the carbs with no issues at all. i don't think anyone is saying your wrong but all the engines out there having no issues makes it hard to argue.
  5. i learn't today that rotax do make airboxs, i always thought that sort of stuff was made to suit .
  6. i doubt that aluminium airbox is a rotax product. i may be wrong but bolt ons like that are usually made to suit the installation by the installer of the engine.
  7. No flying down here this weekend because of bushfires, total fireban and strong winds.
  8. very true but my instructors made me use carby heat anyway .
  9. I trained with 4 different instructors and they all used carb heat on descent. As well as testing at runup
  10. different subject, how much fuel did you burn per hour on your trip to camerons corner.
  11. a fresh lamb shank each will keep the dogs quiet.
  12. I am coming to fix your car
  13. But maybe that's what I will have to do anyway.
  14. Yes. That's the normal way. Blue a sent a pic of one similar.. my thruster had a fixed tabs in the ailerons . I can do this I just don't like drilling holes through the Dacron.
  15. Duct tape. Hammer, shifter and a packet of cable ties can fix anything
  16. I can keep the xair under 100mph I suppose 😁
  17. Bunnings aerospace have the cloth reinforced tape, might be worth a shot.
  18. I thought about trying it on the xair aileron and elevator gaps.
  19. What sort of tape can you use to cover gaps.
  20. Are cozycarb rings coolant heated or electric. My jab 2200 had an electric carb heater but it didn't look like it would heat much.
  21. i can do a very simple bungie trim off the left stick, i only need slight right pressure to maintain level flight. xair ailerons can't be adjusted independently otherwise i could get what i want with adjustment. that idea might be wrong anyway. still need to figure out something for the rudder. preferably in the cockpit as well.
  22. Yes. 912 with carbs on top are. Pretty immune to ice unless they have a ducted carb inlet.
  23. I don't have carb heat on the 2 stroke but I keep the revs up on descent to avoid cold seizure and carby ice. Which is easy to do with draggy airframe.
