just realised i am reading jem0002. earlier version. hows this for confusing. the list of sealants and lubricants recommends nickel for the head bolts then you go to the maintenance section and they recommend copper for the head bolts.🙂 loctite Nickel Anti-Seize is copper free. Recommended for stainless steel and other metal fittings. For preventing corrosion, seizing, and galling in harsh, chemical environments, and temperatures to 2400 °F (1315 °C). Used on cylinder head screws. If the engine has been operating in a corrosive environment (such as coastal areas) it is possible for the cylinder head screws to rust in place. In this scenario it may be necessary to periodically removed screw one at a time (do not remove all at once), check for rust (substantially corroded screws must be replaced), and apply copper anti-seize before reinstalling to the torque setting.

springs are under tension. slightly stronger than origonal. all nice and tight. there is a split in the collar that pipe goes into. i put the hose clamp on to keep it tight while i am ground running the engine. will taking it off to weld a new collar on before acr inspection. there is also a clamp holding carb heat muff up. when i fit the scat hoses i will put the screws back in and remove that too.

thanks mike. i got told to use hi temp nickel antiseize. the manual says to coat the head bolts with copper antiseize . i guess that is what you are talking about. is copper max a brand or a specification. would repco sell it. i would prefer to just buy the copper stuff for both jobs.

A friend repaired my exhaust and I refitted it today. Looks good, sounds better.

Then I thought I would pull the plugs and do a compression check. First plug I turned snapped off. After cursing my stupidity I put the leads back on and ran the engine to warm it up. Got the rest of the plugs out with a bit of finesse and CRC. I removed the head with the damaged plug and ran it over to southern aviation services at sale. We are so lucky to have this business in our area. Dave the owner is always ready to help. He got the plug out after a battle with it. He found something baked on the thread which glued the plugs in. Wrong anti seize is a possibility .

I would like to do the unusual attitude training. Just need to get over the nerves.

I was the opposite. I had some long breaks due to instructor shortages , weather and free time. If I had a break of 6 weeks or more I was almost back to square one with the actual flying part. Theory was ok.

biggest mistake i made was buying aircraft along the way. if i did it again i would just put my money into training. i bought 5 in the years i was training.

have you got your pilot certificate or are you doing that when you finish your plane.

those blokes in the video were charged $600 in fees for landings . charged a passenger fee for each seat in the plane . charged for the terminal which they were not allowed access to. watch the video.

Skippy, look up Jabirus fly north on YouTube. Have a listen to the fees they got charged by the Thursday island council for using horn island airport. It will make your eyes water. They charge rec pilots full commercial fees. And the council hide the fees in the general charges page and make no mention of them in the horn island aviation section.

its the first flipped one i have seen with intact nose gear. thats out of 2 or 3 i should clarify. -
