  2. Started heading over to yarram just now but ran into a headwind so have gone to Traralgon instead
  3. The whole idea of a side slip is to create drag and lose height without increasing speed. That's what I was taught.
  4. I have no problem side slipping. Just haven't done it right down to the runway before.
  5. Excellent. Thanks
  6. I mean how low so you go before you pull out of the side slip. You are already over the runway.
  7. It is a riveting topic
  8. signing a few new ts and cs does not bother me at all. won't affect me flying around on the weekends.

  10. steyr marine diesels are jug engines as are most mercury outboards up to the 1990s

  13. Just wanted to post some feedback For Ian's shop. I was looking for a radio scanner so I can check the local atis from home. Found one here , looks like a great little unit. I also checked my local Jaycar and they could not match the price. Thanks Ian for providing this resource and now I will be doing some more shopping on clearprop.👍

  15. They sounded unreal. I remember them racing at Paynesville in Victoria. Miss bud was the one I recall.
  16. There is a big difference between wa which has no mountain country and the east coast. I think inaccessible mountain terrain is where aerial firefighting excels. Especially since Greenies have stopped logging and locked out the mountain cattlemen.
  17. Don't think I ever worked on a petrol motor with roller cam followers. Yella terra roller rockers were a flash add on when doing up a Holden red motor.
  18. I sat beside one of Coulson's Chinook pilots on my way home from the US the other day. He had 2 weeks in Sydney training with 20 other chopper pilots. How many chinooks do the RFS have..
  19. Thanks Danny. Interesting that roush stock the parts. They are well known for vehicle performance
  20. All true , but what about parts availability. Is there a huge stock of war surplus parts about or does someone manufacture new gaskets, valves etc for them.
  21. How do they keep all those Merlin's running. So they have a large supply of war surplus parts
  22. It's ok nev. I don't ever hope to have your knowledge and experience. I take onboard what you say but I disagree about the paddock landings. As you know my lightweight rag and tube glides like a brick so need to get it on the ground quick If engine fails. It stops flying at 38 knts with me and half fuel .
  23. Yes. I just work on the assumption that it will but I am sure it will be a huge surprise still if it does.
  24. Probably why sale is quiet too. I know one person who has had a go at Wellington shire . They have been double charging him using the cameras at each end.
