  1. I would not remove the fastback. It would be ugly with the fuel tanks and battery hanging out in the open. Also the luggage compartment would not be useable.
  2. Mine is 490. My first 2 were 544
  3. it will get signed off with no drama. A lot of them are registered as 544 and raaus have decided not to allow it any more.
  4. When is the maiden flight . climb at 50 knts And don't drop under 45 landing. Greatest fun you can have for the money. Extremely forgiving of learners like me. Rotates around 40 knts.
  5. There is a bloke on here but I forget his name. He made new batten ends with a 48 mm holesaw and Teflon sheet. That gives the correct radius. The factory ends are too small and pop out all the time. I do mine a different way. I give them a squirt of kiwi grip . No more trouble. I don't plan on removing them so it works for me.
  6. why not a flight suit. you can look like maverick when you exit the sonex
  7. Dreamliner also has powerful generators
  8. The star lifter must have a fairly high rating the way they throw them around.
  9. I looked up the c130 , it has a max payload 2.5 g so even less than your 3 g.
  10. I thought all Hercules would have started life as military aircraft.
  11. Brendan There's Plenty of ways a wing can come off a Fire Bomber. Pulling excess "G" is the Most Likely. Nev. Everyone knows that. I merely passed on something I heard on a story about a herc losing its wings. The ad may have been for fatigue inspections or possibly strengthening an area of the main spa. I don't remember but will try to find the article . It was a pretty dramatic video.
  12. There was a video of a Hercules fire bomber losing its wings a few years ago. I am sure they said it missed an ad for the main spar.
  13. I don't know much but Geoff is well worth talking to . He is always happy to answers any questions. But I can't imagine them Covering you in a VH AC even going to an raaus event. You would have to be in an raaus ac.
  14. Also if you are flying vh you are casa not raaus. You are flying on rpl
  15. I am pretty sure they told me you have to be doing an raaus related activity. As in flying an raaus registered aircraft. Even though the insurance covers the member not the aircraft.
  16. Ring Geoff tonkins at insurance house. He put the raaus insurance package together. He will answer all your questions. The third party does work well. When the Jabiru went through the side of the hangar at Goolwa a while back. The raa insurance paid out everything straight away.
  17. The 1 million is tenant liability not public liability.
  18. It's not just raa. We members have the 20 mil p/l. I have asked the raa broker and he confirmed it. The passenger limit is not enough but the passenger is flying at their own risk. That's why we have fly at own risk decals on the panel.
  19. Might identify as a male taxi😁
  20. on the video they were concerned about flutter . on an airliner doing 500 knts does the skin heat up from friction even at those temps
  21. The flight is done and dusted without any problems so no point speculating on what could happen. I doubt it will be done again any time soon.
  22. When I was in los Angeles a month ago there were so many driverless taxis and delivery robots running around they don't even get a second look. Just part of the normal scene. And to watch the waygo taxis running around is impressive. One pulled up near us and did a quick u turn as soon as the traffic allowed him too. Amazing to see.
  23. My wife reckons I argue too much but I don't agree with her.
