We used to use a similar Graco back in the 70's for applying marine coatings. They say it won't give the fine gloss finish of a regular spray gun but there's no overspray. I actually bought it to paint the old 1910 house that we've now sold without using the spray gun but I'm eager to give it a go. I think the choice of coating will determine the finish more than the gun used. Select the paint then get the right spray gun and a compressor that gets right pressure and volume. You don’t want to muck up the finish and need a gloss finish. Cheers and look forward to seeing the painted bird. 2

Good day to test the inflatable spray booth I bought in winter and haven't unpacked since. Second hand, never used. All went well - the two pumps work great, the whole thing was up in about 5 minutes. Windows have removable panels with filters and the whole inside is pressured by the small pump, so you don't get any nasties coming in. The booth has clear windows, skylights and loops to hang LED strips, so will get a couple of those too. Will probably need to bring down extension cords from two different circuits. Both fans went off one, but I wouldn't like to add a compressor as well. I have the quote for all the paint and accessories. Will set up some racks / tables for the smaller bits. Measured the interior of the booth while it's up, the main room is 6m long and my plane is 5.9m from prop to end of fuselage. 😄 Masses of space inside, it's about 4m wide so there's room to get around the plane. Didn't measure the height but they're advertised as 3m. Even managed to get it back in the bag afterwards, which I consider the crowning achievement! Will also buy some tent pegs and guy ropes before I put it up again. It was fine today but any wind on it and it'd want to run away. I love jumping castles 🏰 1 2
Moneybox Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago If you are not a painter then I suggest you find some old panels for practise, car door or bonnet, old washing machine or similar. You don’t have to mess up your new booth, just practise/learn outside. 1
