  1. Some people raise the flaps to make braking more effective AND WHY locate the Levers close together? Any how when you MOVE any control THINK about what it does.' Also Incidents such as this one is the Main reason I have never used Mt ISA as an alternate. SINGLE runway and miles from anywhere and you need all of it. Nev
  2. Another factor here would be the Weather and Mistakes as yet not correlated. WADE through the Comments, Most of which are Useless, but IF you persist you'll get a better idea. The truth will OUT. Nev
  3. Bit too early to make that connection. Of course it will be checked as a matter of due process, A NEW one could break up also in certain conditions. NZ is not a place Known for shoddy aircraft work. They actually Punch well above their weight there. Nev
  4. Just needs to be in Balance, doesn't it. Nev
  5. Don't get the Idea I'm a football fanatic. This match was only the second one I've watched in a lifetime. I've Lived In (near) Melbourne since April 1965 and It's almost compulsory to support SOMEONE AFL. Quite a Nice bunch of Players I reckon. It's very much a Dollars thing though. (Like everything). I have no desire to Leave Victoria, though MANY love to HATE it. EXPANSION is ONE of our Problems. GO AWAY, it's full and horrible anyhow. Nev
  6. I was wondering if it is used on descent these days? There has always been some concerns with using it. Nev
  7. I wouldn't want to be Piloting the planes taking some of those supporters back to BNE. Nev
  8. Instrument approaches only go the Minimum on the chart where you must be fully visual or go around so the Title of the thread is not helpful. Commercial Jets don't normally use runways where there's no glideslope Info or a VASIS, Visual approach slope Indicator, available to back up your approach angle judgement. . Nev
  9. Good Plane for the Job. Hope we find out what Happened. Nev
  10. Watched it all and They deserved to Win. Nev
  11. Both could have been doing visual approaches and are supposed to be stabilised by 400 Ft AGL . Either way the Plane doesn't fly itself, despite what many thInk about Commercial Jets. In Controlled Airspace I can't see How/why this close Proximity went unnoticed and both Planes would have Had TCAS. Nev
  12. It's Dead easy. There's not a lot of visibility above and below in a lot of cockpits. Nev
  13. Rubber also Hardens with Aging.. I'm not sure you can do much about that. It makes old Tires difficult to "work With" and they can Crack where they flex.. Nev
  14. The Radar has to Point where It's "looking" and be enclosed for protection. Nev
  15. Yes, hydrocarbons RUIN rubber. Everyone should know that. Nev
  16. Illegal . Nev
  17. Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. Consider other Users who should not have to anticipate such antics and you are supposed to set an example of GOOD Airmanship ALWAYS. Nev
  18. Built for a Purpose. How it Looks ,doesn't Matter. Nev
  19. It's OK If you get away with it and a real pile of Crap if you don't. Getting airborne is optional. Landing (at some time) IS a NECESSITY.. Plus you will look like a dill in court. Nev
  20. Trump reckons DrainO does the Job. Nev
  21. We have ALL sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. We also seem to be easily distracted and lacking of Self discipline. It may also be an attempt to correct a perceived error rather than let it Pass and have the Opportunity lost. IN Flying you correct errors as soon as they are detected. Maybe it's a HABIT Hard to toss. Nev
  22. I would regard that as the Moderators job, IF HE sees Fit. There's plenty of Instances of thread drift and worse. Making a Joke of a serious subject which Kills it dead. Nev
  23. Well THAT COULD cause your LAST flight, and it's Nice to Have Power to your Hangar.Nev.
  24. It IS from the ATSB report. What's the % of People who regularly Fly Tailwheel Planes? Those who do would be well aware of this rather ELEMENTARY statement. Some go arounds are very critical manoeuvres. The most critical you will ever do, for Many People. Nev
