  1. Rotax 618 with 99 hours TT in an X-Air Standard
  2. Thanks, the Castrol Oils are easily available. i had picked this as a possible? https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Shop-our-Full-Range-by-Brand-at-Autobarn/Penrite/Penrite-Hi-Per-2-Stroke-Semi-Synthetic-Engine-Oil-2-5L/p/OA00261
  3. I was just looking for a quick answer on a weekend so I could do my research and buy what I needed Monday in the local area
  4. I have searched the Forums, but found no answer? so I am now looking for a suitable full synthetic oil to use in the Rotax 618 that I have just acquired. In looking at Penrite MC-2ST Full Synthetic Two Stroke Oil. it has a note in the specifications, as being unsuitable for ultralight aircraft So now looking for a suggested alternative?
  5. Next question I have to ask is does the MARAPs transfer seamlessly to a new owner or do they have to re-validate any MARAPs applying to the aircraft at the time of ownership change?
  6. I’m wondering if that is the total cost for all of the mods applied for in one application or if they must be assessed separately on individual MARAP applications?
  7. I’m hoping to find out the real cost of what the MARAP was for all the Drifters mods
  8. I heard of one instance where they were unhappy with a guy wanting to take his aircraft off their register and they stuffed him around so much to try and delay him from going VH. That is very unethical. 🤢
  9. I will bet when RAAus wake up to what is going on, they’re going to start charging people more money for endorsements, taking aircraft off their register so people can go VH. They will just introduce a raft of charges to try and make up the kitty even more.
  10. Nev, like many organisations, history has not been on their side but big changes have been made, and the atmosphere at the AGM and Fly In was very positive, they are getting quite a few member sign ups right now. Many applicants for their new CASA approved MPC qualification. Cant be any worse than RAAus wanting to ground legacy aircraft from flying……
  11. Find another Flying School by the sound of that. 🤢
  12. But the conversion hours are low? I guess you have checked this out? Cost wise etc.
  13. There are many changes afoot for Aviators to leave the RAAus regime and transfer to VH reg, and end up with many more rights, subject to doing approved courses. I have it on good authority that many RAA members are not renewing, and flying unregistered. They can also regain legality with VH rego,, and follow the SAAA regime, if they become a member.
  14. Well, it maybe a candidate to go VH? I can check that out? Right now, there are lots of things going on in CASA, they are very tight lipped right now, but I suspect a lot of it is behind the scenes from the Mt Beauty saga. It’s not over, until the fat lady sings……..
  15. Well, I will see what happens, because I will change it to VH, if I have to because the new SAAA MPC Course, being approved by CASA as we speak, will allow non builders to maintain their aircraft with the sanctioned authority from CASA. There will be training advantages, as well. A lot of info came out of the SAAA Fly In and AGM at Narromine, and their prototype MPC course that was run on the day , was given the tick of approval by CASA engineering people, in attendance on the day. All that remains is to submit the documents for CASA to sign off. Aviation is about to enter a new era.
  16. Brendan, Where is that determination from RAAus? Is that a recent thing about abinitio training? Only? Or does it include endorsements, too? Is it because being unable to zero time 582s now? I got a phone call only, from RAAus about 12 months ago saying mine was not able to be used for training, nothing in writing? But for me I see no training problem, when I finally instal my fresh, factory crate 582 complete, installed and commissioned? Maybe there is more I don’t know about?

  18. Great article on his lovely aircraft and the processes he had to go through, to get it there? But I have to wonder what the costs were for the MARAP applications, for the approval needed? I don’t think the MARAP process is a cheap process, given we are dealing with RAAus aircraft in general. Be interesting to know what the MARAP process cost was, to get all his mods approved?
  19. A Stress Echo Ultrasound is very reliable, my wife has 7 stents, I have been in My wife’s Cardiologists Operating theatre watch this sort of procedure, being an Angiogram as a result of an adverse Stress Echo Ultrasound, Electrophysiology studies or the heart are done by a Cardiologist specialised in this field. He is the heart’s ‘electrician’ 👍
  20. You don’t need a Heart Attack, a Sudden Cardiac Arrest gives no warning, regardless of age. A defibrillator is usually the only solution to bring someone back, an average of 20,00 people per year die in Australia from it, with no warning, it’s not predictable in any way. There are elements of risk in being alive……
  21. Wondering IF there is an X-Air POH available anywhere? Oz website does not have much at all? An Indian website shows it, but links are broken?
  22. WURTH make a great pump bottle
  23. Have ordered two bottles today, to give it a go. 👍👍
  24. Yesterday I was going over my recently acquired aircraft which has a 618 Rotax 100 hours TT on it, but the alloy finish looks like it’s lived in the bottom of the ocean? So, looking for ideas to clean it up? Maybe coat it with a heat proof clear coat or something? Any ideas please?
