  1. Based on what I know, and a pending ATSB investigation finding, there will be something published.
  2. There are two words that summarise the reason for the crash of Greg’s aircraft, They are ‘ ignition failure’ there is some history there but I will not go into it here.
  3. RIP Greg….dealt with his antenna business for many years, starting in 1977? He started off making CB antennas, some of the best available, even back then. My business bought from him when I started, 30 years I operated for. His products were all top notch.
  4. Maybe problems of the past have been solved?
  5. I believe mandatory use of ADSB Transponders only? I am checking this further 👍
  6. I got told that our Sky Echo units may be obsolete in 18 months, due to CASA changes? Maybe we can then sell them to the U.S.?
  7. He maybe an adventurer, looking to have a long country drive. 🤩
  8. First mainstream course is late first quarter of 2026 a being held in Narromine NSW. You need to be SAAA member to participate. The CASA Legislative Instrument has been finalised to meet that deadline. It will be a CASA qualification run by SAAA. Further updates as they come to hand.
  9. Well if you move your RAAus Aircraft to VH rego, do the SAAA MPC and get that certificate, you take it to CASA, get your Authority to maintain your aircraft, even if you were NOT the builder. Fly away happy on your RPL with 5? Hours training on your RPC. 🤩
  10. You don’t need a licence to fly an aircraft, the aircraft does not care IF you don’t have one, it flies the same, regardless. Yes, it is very prudent to have a licence? But, I have to ask…..did the Wright Brothers have one? Or any other very early Aviators? Having a licence, does not mean you fly properly, or even safely? The buck stops with YOU, as a Licenced Pilot to be as safe as possible👍 🤩 Consider many people who have car licences, but by their manner of operation, should not have a licence?
  11. Thanks for that info 👍 I will try it on joystick see how it looks, but more I think about it, mount it as a heads up display? I have Garmin296 in my Jabiru as a panel mounted, I don’t even use it, because it’s too far right on panel, to see easily?
  12. They were short of X-Air files last week, that they had lost, having previously been provided.
  13. Sadly RAA has lost control of our sector, mainly because members are not updated on rule changes, it’s only when a member goes to do something, they can run foul of the RAA system? Then when I find out 60 more X-Air Aircraft, have been sold are flying, that are not on the RAA register. I have also been told many paper records were lost, in the change over to digitisation of records. i recently ran foul of this, in a rego transfer. That digitisation process allegedly cost $32,000 and was not done properly. Missing records etc? So RAA are playing catchup in a few places, probably hounded by CASA?
  14. Let them point to the relevant information in writing, to verify what they say.
  15. Sometime ago I purchased one of these units. Now time to try and use it, after reading parts of the 250 page handbook I am trying to work out some of the basic features that maybe of use. Will need to download some kind of VFR Chart database as a starter? Anyone find this unit is useful in Australia? What features are of benefit? Any useful hints and tips for me to get stated please? Has a yoke mount, which I would rather use in preference to panel mount, since it’s not a big screen?
  16. Good reason WHY a BRS is useless in an onboard fire, drift slowly to the Earth, while you burn to death. 🤢
  17. Battery banks for phones, thrown many out when they swelled got hot, 2 Telstra 4g wireless routers, 2 DJI drone batteries, overheated in flight, had to jemmy them out with difficulty.
  18. That is why I use AGM batteries, Even Lithium jump starter packs are bad, I have had 2 that nearly caused a disaster 🤢
  19. I am waiting for YouTube to become a recognised standard, in Pilot Training 🤩🤩
  20. The Internet giveth, but it also taketh away, in the form we used to know 🤢
  21. Well, I try to make sure I open my mouth with the right info, but like everything today, complexity brings differing interpretations. And even specialists can be wrong, to certain degrees? Fundamentally, its hoped with the pooling of knowledge should mean we have some kind of a correct answer, in general. I guess a full investigation, is hoped to realise an accurate outcome? The media? Forget that, there is no pride in media accuracy, anymore?
  22. Nev, are you hinting I have come unstuck?
