  1. Maybe this latest incident may bring an airframe end of life determination ? Which will see the early models end up out of service?
  2. Thanks, Brendan 🤩🤩
  3. When I first saw that the rear engine was mounted on the vertical stabiliser, that was the start. I knew nothing about aircraft back then, and I don’t know much more now. I had visions of what could go wrong but millions of flight hours later, between Wing pylons and cargo doors, they have been reasonably reliable BUT, when it goes wrong it seems to result in a major disaster. I still have visions of major real engine failure, destroying the aircraft. I have seen too many instances of poor engineering, in my life. My 24 reg Jabiru has one, and I am not allowed to fix it. 🤢
  4. Those things are a crap aircraft, the moment I first saw one…….was enough for me. Yes, a crap design that flies BUT ??
  5. I will hurry up, and WAIT with a large bucket of Popcorn 🤩
  6. You want the bad news? Now or later? Avdata will build a BIG database over time.. Organisations will look to them for the information they want. You will need to register with Avdata to fly to any populated place, they will hold, your insurance details, your ASiC plus any other data they can scavenge up, even your licence details, endorsements. You call up ATC? A few keystrokes and they will have it all 🤢 Councils will have it to check your insurance, before they allow you to land at their Airport? NO insurance? Landing rights denied? The linformation could be limitless, over time 🤢 All these organisations wanting information, will pay a big fat subscription to Avdata. Please, tell me I am wrong? 😨
  7. Just wait until RPC holders can access Controlled Airspace? They will see the money and ask for ASIC, for anyone wanting that access?
  8. One lost a motor, and crashed not long before I was due to take my trip, killed all on board. I never liked the look of the design, that crash was simply a decider for me.
  9. Probably comb Social Media pages, looking for adverse posts, to rate an applicant’s suitability to be granted their ASIC?
  10. Never liked those machines, in 1979 I was due to fly Air New Zealand on one. I cancelled the flight and changed to Qantas 747. Based on published incidents about ‘78, ‘79?
  11. Title says it all 🤩 for sometime now I have been eyeing off getting a Apple Watch, which will have quite a few possible benefits for me but I’m also interested in the aviation aspect of where the benefits could be so that I can justify myself. It’s worth spending the money on and I will get a decent one. Probably an Ultra 3 which seems full of features, has cellular and even satellite? I think if that’s any advantage to me for aviation purposes and anything else along the way. So I’m interested in people‘s experiences with them and then I can work out if I can justify spending the money. I don’t think it’s worth going for the cheaper line of anything if I want the features and need them I’ve gotta pay for them.
  12. I asked what their search criteria was for digitised records? I suggested it all should have been done under aircraft registration number. RAAus paid a contractor $32,000 or so, for that work to transcribe everything at the time, from paper records. I was not told the search criteria used? Too much information for a Stakehoder to know 🤩🤩 Anyway, my problem was solved, that’s all tht matters 👍
  13. Well, after a couple of phone calls, where I got very specific about RAAus needing to solve my W&B problem and my 490kg MTOW upgrade from 450kg. I provided factory evidence that was accepted on MTOW. Next, Darren Barnfield phoned me back, after combing RAAus records, he discovered my original W&B document, that no one else could find, it was even done by a man he personally knows. So he has OK’ed my W&B as accepted and now my transfer and registration will now be completed. They are sending copy, to add to logbook for any future reference, IF needed. So, my problems are now solved 🤩 So now I can now fly away happy 🤩
  14. I won’t go down this road on a 24 reg aircraft, it must be all be totally approved. Look, I will cheat on a 19, AFTER I have done my own risk assessment. Had an AP look at my work etc, BUT I won’t go down the MARAP path, because it even been outsourced now and I would question IF RAAus insurance would even pay a claim, now a third party is involved in MARAP engineering. The devil,is in the details we won’t ever know until things go pear shaped 🤢
  15. I don’t have calibrated scales? AND right now RAAus don’t even have a plan to get authorised W&B done? I suspect my phone calls to them today may not end well…….
  16. People should be able to have trust in the organisation of which they are a Member? Oh hang on, we have been told we are only Stakeholders, according to RAAus?
  17. Look, what is done is done and it’s up to RAAus to use a suitable methodology to solve existing problems, where they are. I have had many phone calls over time detailing me the sordid past. Just 3 days ago, I was told of a new instance by a prominent person in Aviation. The WEB site makes me wanna vomit, it has uppercrust GA written over most of it. But that’s the way it is now. I would allege the rot really started to set in, with the change from incorporation, based on what I have being told?
  18. This all would have been seen IF a W&B was done upon imported aircraft, BEFORE registration was approved by RAAus? So, RAAus failed in their own housekeeping?
  19. I can redesign it very simply BUT it would need Jabiru to officially sanction it by approving my engineering. I know that will be a lengthy process, without guarantee of success.
  20. The dreaded Jabiru electric flap system is a death trap in my opinion, I have a way to fix mine, but being 24 reg, I cannot touch it 🤢
  21. Ironically, I was asked IF I had a transponder in their email, to me. I forgot about that……nothing was mentioned in the phone call? This is why I think there records are incomplete. They are on a fact finding mission?
  22. Brendan, Sadly, they have always given me a hard time over anything relating to aircraft. I’ll see what happens over this W&B business, but they are going to have to come up with a feasible answer, not me. Because this may force them into doing something and saving other members grief along the way. I pay my membership for a reason and I expect them to be organised and deal with all aspects of recreational aviation since they make the rules. If they can’t get their act together, that’s not my fault.
  23. Well, I would have thought by CASA pulling RAAus W&B authority, it leaves a segment of Aviation unable to comply with regulations? I wonder IF CASA have poo po’d RAAus training manual to gain CASA approval? Someone is in neglect here, in fixing this problem? I have a solution, change to VH Experimental, fix W&B problem, do RPL with an independant operator under CASA Part 149, NO flying school needed, do Class 5 Medical and fly away happy 😃
  24. It appears that CASA revoked RAAus people from doing W&B? Now only a CASA AP can do them? Unless someone knows different? However SAAA APs sanctioned by CASA to do them, for VH Experimental aircraft owned by members, I would simply pay SAAA to hire the scales, by way of deposit, which is returned when scales are sent back. Part of the member benefit from SAAA, by going VH Experimental, away from RAAus?
