I am too disgusted to actually put what I am thinking here... Let just say that this confirms they are all out with the Fairies...
-
I agree. Spot on Pete.I personally think the "second" organisation should be the old one revamped. After all when you strip down the old version and determine whats wrong and replace the bits that are buggered, or have worn out, the results can be as good as new. And you know what, it can be done in the same way many of us maintain our own aircraft - having basic mechanical training and call in the specialist for the bits that are too technical. The membership base will remain the same, the contract with CASA as well. Just need to bring the operation up to best practice in keeping with the size and scope of what is a growing community business.Pete
Let the new organization administer Commercial Ops.
-
And many are not in the least aviation qualified... NOT ALL... Plenty of good amateur LAME's out there. But lets face facts... that is what they are right?
-
Yeah... I am not even bright enough to differentiate between Ops and Tech... YET I STILL GOT IT!!!The current crisis of grounded aircraft is related to the Technical functions of RAAus (aircraft registrations) and is not within the remit of the Operations manager, Assistant Ops manager or their delegates.CheersJohn
What gives Ra-Aus?
-
"
Ra-Aus has a BIG operations problem.
An Ops Manager, an assistant and a few delegates around the country is not going to provide effective Operations functions for 3500 aircraft and 10 000 members... I reckon this is part of the reason our ex operations people have been so keen to depart for CASA lately... They know it... CASA knows it... Its just a matter of time until they act IMO.
I would have thought Operations Management would have been the first priority for our organization and at the top of the Pyramid as far as functions CASA requires."
Gotta laugh... Just found my post from way back in January of this year on this site on another thread related to the ongoing issues...
Believe me I am not a mind reader... "
It is just a matter of time until they (CASA) react"
.... 10 months or so to be exact.
If I could see it from the little involvement I have in North Queensland... Surely any of the current Board Members who have been in for more than 2 months could see it. What gives? Still reckon this Board can fix it????
You would have to have rocks in your head to let them continue until the Executive decides it is time to blow more smoke up everyone's axxe in February.

Because a small group of rumour mongers and agitators jumped up and down vigorously over the last several years to make the Board provide it in your magazine. So why did we get the simple version of the financial report.... David -
As to what we can do about it? I don't know... I imagine there are members up here who still support him as well. I don't think asking him to resign will work or makes much sense until we know definitively if he IS in fact still our member... I imagine part of the reason for his initial resignation was his feeling that he had lost the support of his members... and then it appears the board talked him out of it.Yep what I should have said wasThat is good, but unfortunately that has not always been the normal situation, it is a big country and a common theme has been "just want to go flying and stay out of the politics" this is not a secret but a well known fact.

Crikey TP... You got the craps or what?
You know it was Ozzie's voice that first alerted me to the depth of the problem at Ra-Aus when he hit the stonewall when trying to re-rego his Lazair with its original numbers. That was what set me to sniffing about and when I realized that there may be some fishy business going on at Fyswick...
Just because someone doesn't run for the board or take on more responsibility is not a reason to attack their right as a $180 something dollars right to have a say and question...
I know myself personally would be happy to run as a Board Rep... BUT... I do not believe that I would offer value as a Rep so I won't put my hand up... This is not about individuals it is about our organization and every member being supported to have their say.. a LOT of what Ozzie says is spot on... of course it would be considering he has been flying Ultralights pretty much since they were invented.
Seriously TP... as a mate... and we have met... take a few breaths... I have noticed a few critical posts over the last few days... We need your level headed brain not your grumpy grandpa one... lol

I am guessing that the "Makeup" of grounded aircraft will include many where the owners are unaware... as in their next rego will NOT go through.
Most of these aircraft are perfectly airworthy... the problem as I see it is LSA (don't go there at all until CASA sorts their end out)... and 25 aircraft or similar which are now on the 19 register and similar.... and 10 rego aircraft without accurate TDPs.(remember them!!! Was a BIG call out a few years ago to get them sorted that doesn't appear to have been sorted)...
It is probably bigger than this but based upon what I have seen with my own eyes this is the problem...
Many of our members are perhaps unaware that their aircraft is potentially going to be grounded soon... and the chances are that without some serious regulatory/leeway type situation I don't think it will have a good ending if DRASTIC action is not taken.

I am pretty certain the members in North Qld are pretty awake right now...That is good, but unfortunately that is not the normal situation, it is a big country and the common theme is "just want to go flying and stay out of the politics" this is not a secret but a well known fact. -
I no longer have one Ian... The latest rumour is that he resigned.Who is your Rep winsor?-

I paid my $180 bucks for 12 months of someone else doing it. And even then I (as Ozzie I am sure) tried unsuccessfully to make contact with my member the best way I knew how only to be stonewalled. So what are you going to do about it?Not helpful at all.
-
My rep answered it by implying that it was all rumours and that we had it all wrong to basically every enquiry of this sort. And that we should stop listening to rumours. Funnily enough pretty much all those "rumours" as I see it have come to fruition...As for "just ring your rep", yeah that's fine they may well have no problems in answering your queries as best they can but the trouble is for a member without the basic info, how do you know what to ask? It's not like six months ago we could ring up and say "g'day, look is there any chance that there's a big storm brewing and by the end of the year there will be a whole lot of RA planes unregistered?" Even if we did have a crystal ball and could ask that question, I hope that no reps could have answered it six months ago. -
I would have thought that accepting the Secretary's scraps would have been tantamount to admitting defeat before it has even begun? Why was the Emergency meeting not called within one month as per the constitution.... and the cost of a mail out is not a reason!!!

I reckon they should bring it back regardless...I have really had enough of the RAAus and CASA. I never wanted to be a part of it and i would really prefer my ANO95:10 back or a FAR103 version of it. Both outfits are an insult to grass roots!-

I DON'T ACCEPT THE SECRETARIES RESPONSE AS ADEQUATE... HE HAS IGNORED THE REQUEST UNLESS IT IS ON THEIR TERMS.

I assumed they were in all the mags sent to members... If you vote your number would be checked against your state? To make matters worse, did anyone else get voting papers for any of the previous elections that are not based in the state for which the candidate was based?I didn't get my last Sport Pilot Magazine... I rang the publisher they took my membership number and said we will stick it in the post but no bananas...or at least no Magazine.

I thought David L's question was politely worded and think it was very pertinent. I think the point we need to take from this is the disconnect between the Board Members and the Members. I am not saying there is blame to be laid here... not at all... I am thinking it shows that the mechanism we currently employ simply doesn't work as effectively as it should.Gee with people thinking Area Rep volunteers should do that on top of their other duties who would stand for the position? David if you think that is a good idea maybe you could do it yourself I am sure no one would stop you.Richard. -
I have been toying with the idea of joining the local Model Aero Club. If things aren't looking up at Ra-Aus by February when my membership is due I will definitely give the money to MAAQ rather than Ra-Aus...
I have flown a fair bit of R/C over the years out west... I will be very cautious. The DG is very, very light... which can be a BIG disadvantage with a RC Sailplane... We have wide beaches up here.
I still have my old nitro power pack (panel, starter etc) so I am in a quandary... Do I get a nice ARF Stik as you describe... just about the best fun machine and perfect for refreshing the skills or do I go electric... they seem to have truly reached parity or perhaps electric is ahead now!!??
Note: I agree with boingk. You have to draw a line at flying some models at the park. I would be very reluctant to fly a nitro or large electric anywhere but at a dedicated field.
-
I have this baby ready to go in the garage... Just trying to find the time and a nice beach to fly it.
-
So it was just a dummy spit?
-
If only it was 4 times the size... I reckon at 2 meters it would make a better park flyer.
-
Does anyone remember the whole "Secrecy clause" Scandal? The BS that occurred then still has my mind boggling... Or was that all my imagination and rumour as my Board Member and now President assured my personally.
-
I think what Dodo is agreeing with you turbs. You are getting a bit grizzly and argumentative.Coulda, woulda, shouldaIt would be worth your while obtaining the Annual Reports from Department of Justice, and taking a look at the blowout in unclassified expenditure. If you've got financial skills it should put a different perspective on your thoughts.

I have got a whole folder full of similar BS from my Rep going back since he joined the Board...JUST THINK IF HE HAD OF TAKEN THE TIME TO GET OFF HIS AXXE AND GO AND CHECK RATHER THAN TELL US WE ARE ALL RUMOUR MONGERS AND TO "RESPECT MY AUTHORITY"....
