My 6 or so hours of early training in the J170 would have had my sphincter up around my neck choking me if I was doing 55 knots on final... But... it was a tired old 170 and I was new to Recreational Aircraft.
I would love to try a new J170.

I grok you Error404... Said date in Mag says 11th January..My take was "The closing date for applications as detailed in the magazine are no longer relevant and do not now apply." Said date in Mag says 11th January..
Closing date on Seek is 18th January...
Position closes on 18 January 2013. We will require a resume and 2 referees.
"
...so IMO this is the current closing date as it stands... Better hurry if you are qualified!
So... the logical conclusion is
A. They have just made another complete hash of this...
or
B. The position is already filled and this is just following a process to make it all look rosy.

The closing date referred to from the magazine was the 11th of January... 3 days ago.I took this to mean the closing date did not still apply http://www.raa.asn.au/2013/01/recruitment-10012013/ -
According to the add on seek applications do close on the 18th of January...Also I did read some where (I think) that the 18 January deadline no longer applies.http://www.seek.com.au/Job/general-manager-recreational-aviation-australia/in/act-act/23800239
I would presume they already have a candidate in mind?how the hell can we expect that this recruiting process will result in a suitable candidate being selected when they don't even know what is required of them? -
Of course... if you pay the freight I guess... Check out the website (click on the blue name)... Kit is very reasonably priced.Available in aus?-

We need to stop this urgently and NOW.
Any ideas on how to freeze the current executive from making any changes until this is sorted? Feb 9 will be too late.

Great news for those looking for a simple machine...

You gotta call '000' no mucking about.
I have seen this before... a small fire... people milling around not wanting to bother '000'... turns into a large fire awfully quick.
Sure... we do hear a lot of talk of not bothering Emergency Services but at the end of the day, this sort of thing is just what they are there for.
Happy to hear the end result was OK for those involved in the end. Those blokes could still be hanging upside down in their seats.

I think this is the BIG issue... Any attempt to fill the position in any permanent capacity IMO is pointless until these issues are sorted.I wonder given everything that this Exec has done to the members and the exposure of ALL the shortcomings of the Exec and Committee, would anyone that would be truly suitable, and capable of progressing our Association in the best manner possible for the members, would even consider applying? We need someone in the 'know' of our Association but then would anyone in the 'know', worthy of what we need, even consider applying? Does this also mean that we most likely will not end up with a person we need now and then if all the restructuring is completed, we may have an issue of the GM then being out of sync in a capability matrix with the new and strongly capable restructured Committee and Constitution leaving us with another issue?Hence why the members meeting that was requested LAST YEAR and using all sorts of feeble (IMO) excuses to delay it until now has IMO put us in a potentially un-recoverable position unless drastic action is taken.

Mum is visiting with us at the moment...
She is reading Dad's copy of the memoirs of Hanna Reitsch... I am a bit nervous of even touching it. Such a precious family heirloom to us with Dad's distinctive signature inside the front cover.

Don't be afraid to ask the Doctors and other staff to wash their hands when they enter the room Mark. Often they don't.
Great to see you recovering.

Is it legal to fly a SavS if it has been and is currently registered?

Hi BP... just to get this right.
The SavS rego was processed? Or not?
If processed is the aircraft legal to fly?
Please explain a little clearer if at all possible.
The local school has a SavS.

I agree 100% with your sentiments HIC. Damn shame I am not on the Gold Coast because this is just the sort of thing that would keep me interested.
I feel that it is not so much that people "want" the plastic fantastics... rather that a market opening was identified and developed for them.
I feel that with the right "encouragement" there would be a market... say a machine that is easily built from simple components with moderate performance... 70 knots is plenty... less would be fine too.

I was just looking through my E-mails... having a clean-out... when I found this. Don't know how I missed it.
This was the final communication I had with my Dad... He passed away a month after sending this E-mail. He was unable to talk by this time. It was Dad's influence which gave me my life long love of Aviation... and we shared our passion until the very end.
I thought you may enjoy the links to Youtube he shared in his final message... Probably no one interested in the personal part as addressed to my brother and myself but I will share the whole thing as I received it... Just... because. He was so ill in the end this would have taken a BIG effort for him.

Thank goodness... I was beginning to think it was me who was the problem regarding my attempted correspondence with my elected board member Runciman.
The man acts like he is off with the fairies in my opinion... and go ahead and threaten me one of the people who elected you...with legal action Mr Runcimann... Again...

P.S. My Mum had a Quadruple By-Pass just over 10 years ago... She is visiting with us at the moment and has never felt better. She tells me that the improvement in health and quality of life was immediate after the procedure not withstanding the major surgery. You will be back on your feet and feeling like you could run a marathon within the week (although not recommended until the scar heals)

Good luck Mark...
Sorry to hear the news but real happy that you are still with us and that a fix is available.
I recently started work in the local Hospital as a Wardie... It only took a few days to come to this frightening realization... No one amongst the half dozen or so heart patients admitted daily expects to be in that bed. There but the grace of God goes any of us. Impending death for most of us doesn't give notice and most of us think just like you describe... we assume it is nothing and that we will be fine and don't want to cause a hassle. The Medical staff in my experience will take it seriously and will be happy to see you and if you are showing signs of heart failure you won't be sitting in a waiting room for long if at all.
This illness is a great leveller and the fear I see in the eyes of these people is haunting.
I had a case of Pericarditis last year... the nausea was what sent me to ER. These days I fare sxxt myself whenever I feel nauseous.

Agreed...By their very actions and attitude on this subject they have dug their own graves. -
I didn't know it existed... I regularly read "The Headlines" (Latest one from Google News on Hoaxes) when I visit the site for the first time on any day.
If I knew it was there I probably would use it... or at least check it to see if there is anything interesting.
Edit: Just noticed that the link you provided is all the extra stories below the main story. So I guess I do use it regularly... perhaps just needs a little enhancement to draw the eye to the stories further down?

These legendary aviators flew their Bell47's exclusively from the left hand seat... perhaps something to do with mustering? Bloody legends!I'll leave it to the fling-wing drivers to explain why, but I understand that some choppers are flown from the LHS and some may be flown from either, depending on the intended task.-

That is a real shame about Larry... He was a bit of a legend in my eyes based upon his Youtube activities.

I thought it would fit in 95.10... ?If it's turbine-powered it won't be an ultralight.Isn't there no restriction on number of type of powerplant?

RPM setting for landing J170: What do you use?

I did my initial training in a Jabiru170, soloed in a Fly Synthesis Texan550 (dream machine) and completed my training in an ICP SavanahS.
We have many of the same aircraft in Oz that you do in Europe.
