  1. At least everyone is ok, on the ground and pilot. I would much rather a few nicks and scrapes than the other option. poor old plane is a bit worse for wear.
  2. Both Marty and Regular person have answered some questions playing in my mind, I was not going to post but have thought about my comments before doings so as i do not know either party. I live in a rural area in the Mid North Coast hinterland. When I purchased my property i was supplied a council letter advising me of the fact the area is rural, you cannot complain about rural noises and operations. I already understood this being a country person, but i can see why they issue the letter with a lot of city dwellers purchasing in the area for holiday homes. My driveway adjacent neighbour has lived on his 10Acre lot for 40 years. He runs sheep for eating on his land, Kept his 2 concrete pumping trucks parked there (day Job) Plants a few crops of melons and Pumpkins on a patch that other neighbours let him used in return for keeping the area mowed, planted and tidy. He had a 2 acre lot he split off and gave away to a daughter for a dwelling, she sold and people built on it, no probs for 8 years. Then the small lot was sold again. New people from the blue mountains area bought it. Instagram Yoga teaching types from Brazil originally. Suddenly he is getting complaints about sheep noises, riding his quad too much (it is hilly and he has 1 leg (prosthetic for other), tractor noises, burning off complaints. To top it off they pushed the boundary fence over, because it spoilt the view of the creek for their yoga videos. A creek they wouldn't even see if my neighbour didn't keep the vines and scrub cleared back for his melon crop. They, being internet savvy, started petitioning the council about every complaint, and because the squeaky wheel minority always get greased they achieved getting our area rezoned residential- putting everyone's rates up, having the trucks removed from his property as no business could be conducted on the land- his employees and himself drove off at 6 every morning to work on construction sites not on his land. Along with creating extreme animosity among neighbours from calling the police if he lights a burn off pile on his own land, taking out restraining orders against him has made an unpleasant environment with an us against them type situation. This guy couldn't do enough to help when we bought our land, gave us 50,000 litres of water to help out when we first built from his tanks, helped moving big items, keeping an eye on things when we weren't there. I tell this story as a precautionary tale, sometimes the consequences of disputes or minor differences can cause everyone some form of grief. I wasn't sure from the original post who was there first. Have you bought cheap land in the country for an idyllic lifestyle only to find there is country noises. Has he become a newly minted pilot and taken up a hobby in the last week, or was he a pilot all along and you were not aware of it- did the people sell you the dwelling because of the runway and noise then failed to mention it. I assume you are not in the town boundary and if the house is off grid it would be newer than his dwelling and maybe wasn't there when he first laid out his landing area, because people didn't do that stuff years ago, they had power lines for power. This is not an attack on either party but points to ponder. Like Marty said, talk to him, if he is not a cowboy and you believe he safe in his operations see if he will take you up and conduct a landing or 2 (with the missus and kids not home of course). Perspective may add some insight to operations and such. Even though it is a "Kit plane", someone spent possibly 2000hrs assembling and finishing the aircraft. Don't picture a model aircraft that takes a weekend or two to assemble with glue and rubber bands. I own a similar aircraft and they are sturdy, reliable , proven and perform well at slow speed and mine has 2 stroke under 600cc motor. You never know you might become friends, A friend is far more better value than a neighbour you hate with a passion and less heartburn.

Added new pictures and details on TTIS, POH Specs added.
  4. Too close for comfort, a good go around executed. You would think flying a biz jet you would have better comprehension of instructions from ATC. Acted more like an out in the booneys weekender having a crack at the big smoke.
  5. Maybe the big fire burning the fuselage up might help.
  6. I watched this the day it happened and was surprised that everyone getting off had their back packs and jackets. where was the leave all you belongings behind and exit the aircraft quickly.
  7. Has anyone seen the video of them faking “drowning” in Indonesia to trick humans into swimming out.
  8. It’s a bit like North Queensland, beautiful beaches and creeks, but can’t swim. What a shame, even fishing would be risky. They show jumping crocs all the time at tourist traps. I doubt the side of my tinny would keep you safe. thats why I picked the mid north coast. Green all year, no crocs other than on the feet of yuppies. No frost, no scorching 45c summer days and water everywhere. The creek I fish in near home is almost as big as Chafey dam, the rivers are huge. Not the best flying weather all the time like Tamworth, but that was way less than 0.5% of my life at its peak.

When I get to workshop I will post spec sheet. 90kg is ideal pilot weight. 100kg allows full fuel, 110kg reduce fuel. I was pushing myself to get back to 100kg, struggling with massive work and moving stress not helping. Should have details in a week before I go away for a fortnight. cheers clint
  10. My 182 was purely for “hobby use”. If you are not working in it, isn’t that the point of flying, a hobby.
  11. But the players in the big boys planes should have known better than to rubbish their flying cousins. When you think of the average age of a GA aircraft, versus a lot of newer RAAus aircraft I would hazard a guess a heck of a lot of the GA ones would not pass a real thorough inspection. Factory built or the higher end kit aircraft would have better materials and quality than there would have been 60 plus years ago. at the end of the day we (most pilots) all love aviation and the freedom/joy it gives us.

Will do, I need to get back to my workshop where it is stored to get info and manuals, I know hours are low-under 200, with 400 landings recorded, instruments, tyres, all new and receipts for all the work done 2.5 years ago. 582 Rotax Blue head, 3 blade prop, Radio with Head set adaptors for plugs. factory Tail wheel in package for ground handling easier. Nil accidents listed in logs. I will contact the Lame who did the work for a drop box file of his flights in it, if it is still available. cheers clinton

    Rans S14

I have a Rans S14 in very good order, registration I January and will be paid. Wings are off for transport, full build manual, Poh and all receipts and documents with it. Beautiful aircraft, I am just too heavy for it and nothing is working well enough to drop 25kgs. It was ferried 300km 18 months ago, pilot who did job loved flying it. TTIS 170.3hr in log book. The ferry pilot who flew it last from Gympie to Gatton did not have the log, so that needs to be added. All maintenance recorded in great detail. I have spent more on ferry, hangarage, moving, storage again than I should have $22,000 negotiable . Any interest please contact me on 0429 693305. located in Tamworth at moment. Price drop $20,000 o.n.o if interested.
  14. with those long prop bolts at least it wont fall off for at least 10 revolutions. 🙂
  15. I hadn’t seen other thread, I am ok if closed or moved to existing. Video only popped onto my u tube feed last night, motor bikes, jet skis, druggie boyfriends, cars all kill things in great numbers every year, why start picking on recreational aviation all of a sudden, is it to deflect from a couple of airliners biting the dust recently or to feed the sensational news feed related to them?
  16. https://youtu.be/REGs_gF6wbs?si=qOEN1xX6LgSIZGAM this stinks of the Super car scare of the 70's. My son now drives a sub 900kg sports model i20 N that would outrun any 70s GTHO, charger or Monaro at the top end. All that fear mongering ruined the development of more Australian input, then we lost manufacturing. We don't need this to get in the nostrils of any nanny state polly wanting to make a name for themselves and pander to the morons who pride e this rubbish. Most of us don't set out to crash and kill the public as they would have everyone believe. We want to come home at the end of the day with a big grin on and pack our pride and joy away.
  17. yesterday afternoon was near perfect weather along here, very sad.
  18. I have to blow everything up to read it now. Still spot a bug in a tree a hundred yards away, bloody words at 10" and I'm stumped.
  19. I remember Eugene and Chris in Tassie telling me about using the mattresses in the wings when I first tarted flying in thrusters 30 years ago.
  20. Bushbaby 500, I would like to get sorted in next few months, nearly finished moving my Business 250km East now and able to live at home instead of workshop. got recover of tailplane to go, change tyres to real ones (lawn mower tyres were straining axles in a SB) , then check SB's and see if any new ones exist. Hopefully a couple of good weekends of assembly and a test run of engine. I need a BFR now 2 years and no flying is bad for the soul. cheers
  21. will do
  22. I’m still fixing stuff to make my RAAus plane safe and airworthy even though it had one of these and a 100hr ( we flew it home 15 hrs, but lots of poor bushings, Suss bolts etc when got into it) a totally independent professional will save you money in the long run.
  23. There is one in Gunnedah, hanging in a guys shed with wings off. just trying to think of his name, I did a job for him. had been out of air for 15 years or so.
  24. And a longer one, TWM was a pain in the butt to move on your own, tucked under the prop with the short alloy one. i made a steel one long with an acme thread on one ide with hollow tube to wind onto the spigots. Left it in the hanger to use at base and only had the alloy one for trips in the luggage area.
  25. hopefully we can find out why a deployed chute did not save this aircraft. Most people would assume that this safety device can get you out of a sticky situation. We wondered why the cirrus near Canberra last year, didn't have its chute deployed i.e. very sudden onset of medical episode. extreme structure failure? it might help someone later if they know limitations in a practical use situation or whether to save the expense and just put more $$ in the church tin on Sunday and accept this is the end.
