The answer to that would be a big NO support at all from RAA because they do not want people building those pesky dangerous machines, and they will lose advertising for all the new off the shelf death machines they like nowHow many are being encouraged to build? How much RAA effort is being made to introduce young people to this sector? -

With todays turn key mentality and off the shelf aviators,an art to me, seems to be being lost. The days of sitting around a shed and dreaming and designing and BUILDING an aircraft.

Not your fault at all mate, the insensativety of the falling apples[gravity] comments are what has got peoples goats up mate.....Sorry guys I think i started a argument with my what engine question. I didnt mean any mallace was just curious -
I visited the Mackay airport the day after this and the only aircraft that I could see that was damaged at the GA maintenance side was what looked like a sting lsa to me , light blue two seater with 28 rego/RAA with damaged nose gear and prop and also had a broken elevator hinge and the elevator was hanging off at one side,,maybe a very bouncy landing with tailstrike before the nose gear folded,...Will get a photo tomorrow and post

He had almost completed his training , now this ''training could have already advanced beyond the solo stage and he was doing his navs with the instructor in a two seater ,,,BUT on a lazy sunday would just beetle about the local area in his own 95,10 ,,,nothing illegal about that and I done it myself.....No I don't know about the pilot except he is now deceased and appears to have been training in a 95.10. I would be astounded if that was legal. I think it has already been pointed out on this thread it is not.-

Octave was talking about ga trainingI think your dates are a bit out. The 500ft rule was lifted to 5000ft with the release of 95.10 Rev2 which IIRC came out in 1984/5. By 1986 95.25 two seat trainers, Gemini, Lightwing and Drifter, were in use and they had never been limited to 500ft. -
FT you are a #@$%wit ,,,the engine was a fully reconditioned 503 [not447] with less hrs then your [plastic] tonka truck you play with.......................you just have to trust me on this one-

Yes you are quite correct about the 5 hrs solo to certificate,,,it,s the bullshit hours after that ,that greedy cfi,s convince newbies that they are ""required to do in the schools 2 seater with an instructor sitting next to him twiddling his thumbs counting the dollars in his mind that are NOT a requirement of RAA op manualYou are required to do 5 hours solo to get your pilot cert. -
Not so much nonsence if you talk to many a new flyer training today, the amount of overcharging and excessive training going on , really requires some indepth investigation by RAA...What a load of nonsense.-

Jeff I trained in a lightwing and soloed in a lightwing after 7 hours after a break of 20 years in which I had done 10 hrs with Pat Magrath in a lightwing in 2000 and after the issuing of my restricted I brought and soloed in a single seat loehle parasol , and then brought a two seater quicksilver gt500 tandem seater, and after a compleat study up on both aircraft did not have any issues with flying both ,so I don,t really see the great fear everyone on here is trying to promote..[ps , I also do have to tell you that back in 1985 till about 1988 I flew around in a two seat jemini for a couple of hours with Jeffery payne and then flew a single seat fisher Koala without any problems then ,,oh and it was legal too]Being told something does not make it fact. Seeing it in writing would carry far more weight than just being told by someone.I am not having a go at you here Teckair, but it seems absolutely amazing to me that there can any dispute about such an important matter. If someone could point out a reference that may help clarify what to me seems like it should be obvious.
I am not an instructor so I do not know the rules, but I must admit that there is no way I would have wanted to solo in a single seater after having done all my training in a Dual place aircraft.
Even now I would want to do a lot of homework before flying a single seater for the first time.

The first solo test after completion of a successful written test ,,YES must be conducted in the aircraft type in which you train ,,,BUT any solo flying the restricted pilots certificate holder conducts after that can be in any aircraft within the group he trained be that single seat or two seater so you are wrong there as a restricted pilots certificate should be issued by Raa after completion of successful first solo,,,,so any solo training I do after that including circuits and bumps and small trips within 25 nmof my home strip can be conducted legally and cheaper than being shafted by greedy cfi,s who would like to make you think otherwise and take you for 160/200 hrAs a CFI I was told a student who did not yet have a pilot certificate has to do any solo flying in an aircraft the same as they had done their dual training in. And that it was not negotiable. For those who don't believe me ring the OPS manager.I find it astonishing that no one seems to know this.

95.10 rego/ so single seaterIS it actually a single seater? re the crash, something has to be very wrong somewhere to go IN like that .Nev -
A very sad downwards spiral, seems to be the only future of raa unless change to the direction occursYou can assume that some say little and just give up and leave. When very little improves year after year and it looks as if you will get only "more of the same".. the outcome seems predictable to me. ie WE , Our lot, won't grow. If WE absorb other's that not growth of the movement. Taking over something that's dying or shrinking isn't a plus for many reasons. if there's dissention and conflict in that. you won't serve your base as well as you otherwise would and staff No's and costs increase per person. Exactly the same here Yenn , over 10 members fly from where I used to fly from and they are all just totally fed up with RAA and are just waiting to jump ship......................How can anyone work out from this forum, how many are satisfied or dissatisfied with RAAus. Here we have only a small sample and those are also the vocal few. I believe I am the only member from my airstrip who comments here, but there are 8 others from whom you never hear.-

So not being a member how come you are so vocal about the direction raa is going and how you personally think it is such a good direction ?? are you hoping to jump ship as you grow older and still use the aircraft you desire??? And using the example you just provided do you think that discussion about and questioning of things that the RAA management are doing is something that people should not engage in at all??Oh, thanks to Turbs's analysis and information, the maths is pretty simple.Going by this forum, there are about 8,995 RAA members who are sufficiently satisfied with how RAA is travelling, that they do not choose to engage in debate about it. (I am not one, I am not a current member of RAA) There appears to be about five - assuming all are RAA members - dissatisfied and querulous.-

Still trying to make square pegs fit into round holes Oscar??edit[not attacking the man mods] humour,,,,ok but please mod me if I require it cheersIt doesn't take a vast leap of imagination to suggest that for the first half at least of 2016, 1/3rd of the RAA fleet - Jabirus - flew very, very limited hours. Especially for training, for which Jabbies were way the greatest component.-

Ok , well as you say 8000 members , and a deficit with our educated well paid executive team we have now,,is a bit different to over 10 000 members and a 2+ million dollar bank account with the old raggetty self serving mismanagement you say where too dumb to run the show ah,,,,,RAA didnt run Ausfly so the fence cost them nothingThey were one of several sponsors, not even the largest,Really should attend RAA meeting or watch one as these points are raisd and answered at each one
What exactly do you want to cut out to bring RAA into profit? Wages, salary? Who would run it?
Capable people cost money and with the amount of pointless complaining that goes on, who would want the job?
The management isnt there to become friends with everyone of 8000 members, RAA was in deep trouble based on previous mismanagement and it will take time and pain to get out.

Self explanatory Oscar,as we know where you stand............Kasper: I can't answer your question; I haven't looked at the requirements for 95:10 kits, because, to be honest, I have no interest in this area of flying. Prima facie it seems incongruous.
