  1. NAIPS for ARFOR, TAFs and NOTAMS etc, Willy Weather for localized ground level wind info, BOM site for rain radar.....
  2. Bonjour Jlguym, Est-ce tout? J'ai un vélo! Cordialement Neil
  3. Yup - I agree. Have you seen those Red Bull Air Race guys before they fly? They walk through their routines in the hangar, turning and moving as they would be flying, and saying out loud what they are doing. I'm sure if it works for them - it should work for lowly mortals like us! Cheers Neil
  4. Hi Willo, Wow - going to Natfly from WA 4 times is very impressive! You should definitely get involved with that sort of approach! Cheers Neil
  5. Hi Mauld, Great video! Thanks for posting. I have always liked the Hurry just as much as the Spit - just as iconic IMO. Cheers Neil
  6. Hi Liftmad, - where are you learning & what do you train in? You have joined the ranks of those many of us who wished we had done it earlier!! Hope you continue to enjoy it (I am sure you will!) Cheers, Neil
  7. Hi Flyerme, Not sure exactly what sort of knowledge of the aircraft you are seeking, but I have seen it at various fly-ins here in Victoria over the course of the last few years, so I know it has not been languishing in a barn or similar..... I am sure Mike H. would be happy to give you further info. Give Lethbridge a call and they can probably put you in touch. HTH Neil
  8. Hi Beefy, Well done, mate! It's a thrill you won't forget.... Cheers, Neil
  9. .....sounds a bit like me!!
  10. Hi, I got one of those from Ray's Outdoors. It's very good - I got a "Hiker's" one, which is shorter and more compact than the standard one. Being vertically-challenged it works fine for me. It rolls up very small too. It works by having an internal structure which pushes itself out and pulls in air when put out flat. Then you can top it up with a few puffs of air in the mouthpiece. HTH Neil
  11. Great stuff, mate! Your sister sounds a bit like my daughter - and I found a good, non-turbulent day to take her up for a flight she enjoyed. Like you say - it's great to see a flight through the eyes of somebody who has not flown in a small plane before.... Good luck with your mum! Cheers, Neil
  12. Excellent video, Planey.... Yeh, Mick - I saw the Vulcan at Wings & Wheels (Dunsfold) a few years ago - definitely worth it! Try to get to Old Warden if you can - the Shuttleworth Collection is one of the best, and if the weather is nice you get to see the Edwardian planes fly....magic! Cheers, Neil
  13. Hi Scott, Great video! Thanks for posting. Cheers Neil
  14. Brilliant! Loved it.
  15. Hi MM, Will try & be there - wx permitting! Cheers Neil
  16. Hi Guru, Now you have your pax endo take your missus up for a fly - it might sway the deal wrt $50k...... Cheers Neil
  17. Excellent! Thanks for posting!
  18. Hi Mauld, Love it! Thanks for posting. Cheers Neil
  19. Hi Highwing, Welcome to the forums. Tell us a bit more about yourself - what plane you fly etc... Cheers Neil
  20. Excellent videos, DP. Thanks for posting. Lovely planes - nice aileron design (I think they nicked it from my Gazelle.....) Cheers, Neil
  21. Hi Mal, Low Performance endo is disappearing, so that's one you won't have to do. Lethbridge do T/W in a Savage Cub. Not sure about 2 stroke! Cheers Neil
  22. Hi David, I am used to it! Being small (sorry, vertically challenged if we want to be PC) I have spent my life on the end of heightist "jokes", and....wait for it.... my birthday is April 1st, so for the last nearly 60 years I have had the "April fool" jokes, which people somehow think they are the first to come up with....! In fact the only reason I started flying was so I could finally look down on my friends.... Cheers, Neil
  23. Don't disagree - but that situation is common everywhere (and not just in flying circles). It does not justify tarring ALL people/pilots with the same brush based on the physical location of the individual(s) that you disagree with. I am from the UK and was grossly offended a while back by somebody who, on hearing my accent, made the gross assumption I agreed with then UK prime minister Margaret Thatcher because I was from the UK. He was lucky to get away with his head still on his shoulders. The opinions of individuals are just that - individual opinions.
