Hi Jay, Yes - I did. The main topic was actually the number of aircraft movements at YBLT (the highest of any non-towered airfield by quite a margin) and consequent relatively high number of recent near-collisions. The flying training schools there obviously contribute significantly to the high number of movements. Various potential measures to improve the situation were discussed. Cheers, Neil

Hi SkyHigh, I have the 'Manual of Aviation Meteorology' by the Bureau of Meteorology, and found it a reasonable level. I guess it depends on your background - I had done some meteorology as part of my university course (although that was decades ago!), but it meant I had at least come across some of the terms and concepts before (gotta love that saturated adiabatic lapse rate ). I always find reading such books twice is a good idea as there always seem to be things at the end that would have been good to know to help understanding at the beginning! Just take your time and do it in small bites.... Good luck, Neil

....not the case if you have one of the following as stated in self certification form here :- https://www.raa.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Recreational-Aviation-Australia-Medical-Declaration-Revised-November-2014.pdf Includes mental illness (medicated or otherwise), and diabetes, which I have, so I have to get my GP to write a letter every year saying it is under control and I am fit to hold a driver's licence. So presumably the same applies to you, BAz, if your GP will sign you off. Cheers, Neil

Hi Keith, We have not done any mods to our radiator setup. We run 50/50 Castrol Radicool (formerly called AntiBoil AntiFreeze) and distilled water, and we get temps in cruise around 100 degrees. It gets a bit hotter on a long climb, but returns to the 100 afterwards. The level in the overflow bottle stays pretty constant at the MIN mark (or a little above), but we do not fill the system up beyond that as it can expand and come out the overflow vent. From what we understand it should not be topped up beyond about a third up the bottle for that reason. Make sure you have the 1.2 bar radiator cap (SB-912-043 Nov 2006) and the correct size vent hole in the overflow bottle lid (as per SB-912-039 Dec 2002) Feel free to come over to Penfield and have a look at our Gazelle - give me a PM if you intend to. Pair is a singular noun - hence :- "Please be careful where you step, a pair of glasses has been lost." Same goes for phrases like "a family" or "a class" -- they are each a singular entity made up of multiple people.
