  1. Excellent stuff! Thanks for posting Neil
  2. Are you sure you weren't on one of those "other" sort of web sites ? Cheers Neil
  3. Hi Maj, Just the sort of day recreational flying is all about! I am just a bit green with envy.....Interesting pix too. (....and that V16 is mental!!) Cheers Neil
  4. Excellent video - thanks for posting!
  5. Yes - some really good aerial scenes in that one....
  6. LOL - hope she wasn't a nervous flier....
  7. Excellent article - thanks for posting, rgmwa. Good to see they have young apprentices, not just old farts, working on them to keep the skills going. Cheers Neil
  8. Hi Ian, Glad to hear you have found a job, mate. All the best with it. Cheers, Neil
  9. Hi Mark, Welcome! Hope you don't actually get that much thunder in Thunder Bay as I wouldn't really like to fly in such weather. Keep us informed of your progress. I would love to visit Canada again (have done so a couple of times over the years), lovely country. Cheers Neil
  10. Hi Marc, Well done! I don't think the order is important - I always go back and re-read stuff at least once anyway. There always seems to be material at the end you needed to know at the beginning, so reading twice is good as the stuff at the beginning will now make more sense..... Cheers Neil
  11. I am sure you will be back flying in no time. Let us know how you go! Cheers Neil
  12. Hmmm....never seen a paper map overheat and fail, or run out of power, or crash for no apparent reason......but having worked in IT for nearly 40 years I have seen ALL types of IT equipment fail......I was at a fly-in one time when a pilot told me about how his two identical, supposedly totally independent, glass panels failed at the same time. Perhaps due to the same, identical bug... I would always have a map handy. Cheers Neil
  13. Really cool!
  14. ....an instructor? Sorry....just being facetious..... In my case, being vertically challenged, a cushion and/or properly-adjusted seating position so you feel comfortable handling the controls at all times. I would also add pre-flight preparation as being an essential cockpit tool. Read up on the theory of each aspect you are going to cover prior to each lesson. Hope it all goes well - keep us informed of your progress! Cheers, Neil
  15. Hi Kaz, Yes - I certainly remember the same, and rubber band powered balsa wood planes too. Also we all know planes can fly upside down, so IMO (unscientific as that may be) the curve more determines the smoothness of the flow of air and where it breaks down relative to the AofA thus assisting the lift, rather than actually providing lift. I could be entirely wrong, but while my plane continues to fly I don't really care...... Cheers, Neil
  16. Nice video! Not so sure about the Village People soundtrack......
  17. Hi Kaz, A really interesting read - I especially like those old photos.....thanks for posting. Cheers, Neil
  18. Good to hear, although it must have been a truly slow snail that had your mail..... As it was one of the few decent days for flying in weeks here in Melbourne I shoved our new rego card on our plane and went for a fly yesterday. Magic. Cheers Neil
  19. Hi rgmwa, Excellent video. I know policemen and doctors start to look young as you get older, but that pilot made me feel truly ancient !! Cheers Neil
  20. Hi Maj, Congratulations! I am sure the board will significantly benefit from your presence..... Cheers, Neil
  21. Hi Frank, From the meeting at Temora it was my understanding that LP/HP endorsements were being removed (along with HF and Nosewheel) , so shouldn't be an issue any more..... Cheers Neil
  22. Hi Planet47, Mine only took a few days, so hopefully not too long. Cheers Neil
  23. Hmm - let me mews over that joke for a while....
  24. Also Sunbury East onto 121.6, I believe. Makes a lot of sense. Sometimes couldn't get a broadcast in at Penfield due to others on 126.7, eg from Colac, Yarrawonga, Leongatha etc Cheers Neil
  25. Dave, Well done, mate! You will never forget it. Cheers, Neil
