  1. Given the referrals made to the DPP interesting times are ahead.
  2. He did. He mentioned it in his report.
  3. He had one hour in a 172 over 20 years prior. And over 200 hours in UNpowered paragliders. I've no idea how many touch n gos etc,or how recent the unpowered paraglider experience was.
  4. Except you don't know what you don't know. So why was the wrong decision made becomes the question. And 4 flights and under 10 hours of instruction doesn't set anyone up for good decision making re wx and x country flights. Add in the behaviour of some and the Coroner's referrals to the DPP and this becomes something that may effect all of us. And please, never firget a life was losr and many impacted by this crash.
  5. Except don’t think they are registering Group G aircraft yet, May 2025 is suggested start date.
  6. We’re not talking Qantas, JetStar etc so not sure logistically how the pax numbers would logistically be immediately available?
  7. But MPC Course is a once off. And you don't need to be an SAAA member to build & fly an experimental aircraft. Although we found membership invaluable during the build, test flying phases.
  8. Plenty of GA students learning in VH registered slings, fox bats and similar.
  9. I'm no expert but think Agile are underwriters, 🤔. Their website seems to indicate this. "Based out of Sydney and Melbourne, the Aviation underwriting team has over 100 years of insurance experience in Aviation and Aerospace, insuring risks varying from foot-launched gliders to interplanetary spacecraft." https://www.agileunderwriting.com/aviation/
  10. No RAAus experience, but we havw found Agile excellent.
  11. The Garmin transponder (ADSB IN/OUT) is cnnected to the Garmin 650 and Garmin G3X. So audio and display alerts are independent of any portable devices, phones, tablets etc. I could use Bluetooth to also show them on the ipad but there is no need.
  12. Nope. Not this time. DJPacro responded to my query above.
  13. Didn't think you were referring to me 🤔😂 And hadn't heard it before. Thanks for the explanation kind sir.
  14. It's awful. But please be careful saying they were flying below legal minimums. FR24 isn't adjusted for QNH and that could easily make the difference. Family & friends could easily be impacted by statements like this.
  15. Below minimum legal height? 100ft too low? Are you using altitude from FR24, adjusted for QNH? Had they been flying along too low? Or descended due to an onboard issue? I've no idea. Just bloody sad at the loss of 3 lives. Can't even imagine what the families and friends are going through. Hope they are well supported.
  16. Yep. We've been a few times. But always had to send in form prior, and check on the day as per their website. If there's a way to do it enroute, ir even on the day I can see us going there more often.
  17. Have you managed to get permission for Milawa while on the way there? As well as the required update on the strip? Genuinely interested.
  18. I'm surprised at this. I've never flown one but, there are 2 at the RAAus school here on the Murray. Several friends have done their ab initio training in them and I don't know anyone who has had any problems. We're at the airport and they seem to be flying a lot.
  19. Actually I think training in interpreting weather forecasts across different areas is really important for cross country flying. And without it it could be very difficult to make informed devisions as to whether a flight is safe to make.
  20. Great to know. I was there a month ago, and informed by one of the instructors at Adelaide BiPlanes that their weather station wasn't publicly accessible. Silly me didn't go and check for myself.
  21. Apparently them may have to 'restart' the inquest due to significant information being made available by RAAUS on Friday, the last day of the inquest. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-04/mathew-farrell-fiancee-system-failed-inquest-plane-crash/103414984
