  1. Just Information of a general Nature, Danny. There was a continuing rift between the Old East and West for a long time. Maybe still there? nev
  2. New old stock used to refer to Unused original or period after Market Parts. Some of the Period stuff can be rejected stock so be wary when using. Nev
  3. Oh How Bl@@dy childish and again in the wrong section.. Nev
  4. IF fitting an autopilot is the answer I'd revisit and clarify the Question. Autopilots have risks and downsides. Nev
  5. Plastic and rubber are Prime Lifed Materials especially when exposed to Sunlight.. Wood can Rot or be eaten by Mice. Paint can Mask a Million faults. Nev
  6. You deliberately Miss my point, as usual. I'm prepared to stand by what I said and my right to say so without being attacked Personally as is far too common here Particularly of late.. I ENCOURAGE Questions (particularly Aviation related) which is the Purpose of this section of Ian Baker's Site. Saying "Googe it" was an answer and what I do Often to check how it corresponds with My recollection BEFORE I post . IT is therefore NOT a "stupid answer". but a Helpful suggestion. Nev
  7. Nothing beats NEW when it comes to Planes. Everything is Lifed. Metals age/work harden. Alloys can degrade. Like Diemetal. You can't SEE fatigue either. Internal corrosion. In a Plane every structural part is as light as is safely Possible and Payload as high a % of the AUW as Possible so it can Make Money. Nev
  8. You are unlikely due to weight and space considerations to be able to gain the flow benefit of tuned length Pipes in Our aircraft. Concentrate on safety and no Leaks. Nev
  9. Avgas will be affected. so they say. Nev
  10. ADAM BANDT made that saying famous and If you think THAT is rude you are too touchy .This forum would function much better if people just checked up more things and told us. Nev
  11. Google it. Mate. Nev
  12. Ball end with tension springs can Be a solution Bolts and set screws can lose their Heat treatment. Instal with a Heat proof antiseize and replace on a suitable schedule. Nev
  13. Most of these things are Mounted on rubber. Nev
  14. The Instrument is not the Problem . It's the way It's mounted. Nev
  15. I think he might be Living in a termite mound. Nev
  16. Easy to be tempted but Look Harder. You don't want to Be the CAUSE of other Peoples deaths. A Seabee doesn't land that fast and done right it's Minus the Wind. It's also Built like the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Nev
  17. When it stops it will settle on the correct and same numbers unless you Move the Plane. That amount of vibration would damage Most Instruments.. It's not acceptable. Nev
  18. Ther's a few here who for personal reasons would welcome the demise of RAAus. I am NOT one of them as I Believe it is still needed by a lot of People who want to fly cheaply. Have they done a Good job NO. but with a lot of People involved "Friends"? They sure don't need enemies. This ROT has been over Many Years of Failure and there's plenty of Blame to go around. It was the CASA that originally Proposed it so MUST share some responsibility whether they Like it or Not. Perhaps they don't like the Idea anymore. IF that IS the case we SHOULD ALSO KNOW. . It's crunch TIME. Right Now. Nev
  19. That needs either stronger Magnetism or vibration Isolation. Stay in the circuit. It's just an ornament as it is. Nev
  20. Knocking out tiny Motors in Large Numbers is Materials Plus Bu@@er all , Like anything else. You can engineer out Human error or the Monday Motor. Robots don't get tired or have to go to the Loo. It's easy to go all Nostalgic but then Only the rich can afford the article. My first Model Motor A FROG 150 cost 4 pound ten. Half a weeks wages at the time. I saved for Ages to get it.. Nev
  21. Magnetic compasses never go around and around except in B grade Movies.. If turbulence is so Bad why Be in the Air or Look for a better level? It's fundamental to Pick a visible Point on track ahead of you and ensure you pass near to over it when you Initially set course. Landing somewhere or return to Base is Part Of Navigating. OK we know this is a while ago but things can still be Learned from a lot of things. Revisit what you did and WHY? The Only Persons who haven't Made Mistakes, haven't Made Anything. It's called Experience. Nev
  22. They lose the Impact when most of it is Made up. Hand made stuff is Too expensive. Aeromodelling wasn't a cheap exercise once larger Motors became the norm for Control line and Balsa become the Main Material used. The usual CL motor became 5 cc+. Nev
  23. ALL journeys Have a first step. Welcome HERE. Nev
  24. You average the oscillations of the Magnetic compass .The fluid in it damps the Movement . It's caused by Magnetic lines of force DIP and covered in "Turning and acceleration errors" theory. Maybe your instruction had a few Holes in it. ? Nev
  25. Looks dangerous. Like the Cure is worse than the disease. Nev
