  1. Someone else you have to watch. Nev
  2. Exceedingly expensive and Harder to repair. More losses in transmission too I think. IF it was easy we'd be doing it. Nev
  3. How else does POWER get transmitted?. Nev
  4. That's why the WHOLE World hasn't found a satisfactory Place to store this stuff. It's UNSAFE for ages . Can get into water tables. Pumped hydro is just a one of MANY possible forms of storage... The water used is recirculated as many times as you like.. Nev
  5. Siso, 100's of thousands of years. That's not a perception. Pmcc THAT is a twisted representation of the reality. Renewables are an increasing PART of the Mix Also solar doesn't render paddocks unusable . You can still graze or cultivate beneath it, and Certainly not when it's on the roof of Bunnings which has a heavy connection to the Grid The SUN is nuclear and we wont change anything by utilising the sunlight that comes here anyhow. IT won't run out.. Burning coal and Nuclear ADD to the Heat already here. Nev
  6. Rod Stiff Deserves an OAM. CAMIT (Ian Bent) Unfortunately went broke. Gen 4 motors are not made here AFAIK but appear to be better in the combined Cylinder and head area. Nev
  7. Australia would HAVE TO be one of the best places for wind, solar, pumped hydro and batteries. Rapid response to demand changes is NOT provided by Coal OR Nuclear. The People who talk of baseload constantly mislead and NEW Coal and NUCLEAR are way too Expensive and Polluting and take a long time to build and are centralised (except for the SMR's which are still not economic.) None of the Retired British Nuclear Subs have disposed of their spent fuel. Grids are expensive unsightly and subject to weather events. Costly to maintain and repair, unreliable and very expensive for remote areas requiring constant attention to Voltage drop over large distances with transformers and losses. With Solar wind tidal with Batteries Whole areas could be independent of the grid. Who wants to LIVE near Coal Mines, Coal Power stations OR a Nuclear Power station that requires LOTS of water (which WE don't have). Nev.
  8. We are actually NOT Doing that BAD skip. Look up FACTUAL comparisons. Could you list a few of these SMALL Countries exporting to the World? A significant HOME Market does make a good base for Building a Business in Manufacturing. Exporting has risks beyond your control. Trump as an example. Nev
  9. Labor didn't get AUSTRALIA saddled with Aukus and they KNOW how reliable TRUMP ISN'T. There's a Best time and Place for everything and you don't run your plans on TV. US can't even produce their own requirements. It's been Hijacked from within and in danger of being a Lawless FAILED STATE, full of Corruption. Nev
  10. Thanks for that. Good luck with it. You should get there eventually.. Salt I DON'T like. Nev
  11. Watch out for Murphy's Law. Nev
  12. Maybe your set up is not standard? How many previous owners? Nev
  13. With Most things done by Robotics why does Cheap Labour matter so much with Manufacturing anymore.? Nev
  14. Changing situations need positive and effective reassessment of risk..Situational awareness. Clear decision making. Make the Best of what you have going for you which at times may not be much. Stay in Control. Aviate. Nev
  15. Just look after the windscreen. On some planes it's part of the structural integrity. A Foxbat is also "thin tin" for rivets. Nev
  16. It's about a LOT of disturbed airflow associated with high drag and control difficulties PLUS a blast of fierce propwash in your face. No Way would you want to fly it.. Nev
  17. For a Single engine plane to NOT go via the ISLANDS should be rare. You can have assured glide to an island most of the way unless the Plane is unusually draggy.. Nev
  18. Yes. it's a Popular place for Fishing. That's one of the reasons accommodation can be scarce, there. Nev
  19. I don't think you fully acknowledge the safety aspect of it which I consider paramount. Most larger aircraft have relatively Poor visibility from their cockpits and much faster airspeed on base and final where collision is most likely when in a circuit. They are not usually as manouverable either and have WAKE turbulence particularly at their times at LOW speed (for them. which could be 2 x or more of your groundspeed on final easily. Nev
  20. As a general statement, RADIOs and procedures could be Much Improved. You need situational awareness, Training and self discipline to make it work. Visual CONFIRMATION is still the priority.. Nev
  21. You are on an anti straight in Crusade. There ARE times when it's best. Particularly if the extra plane is much Faster. Something like a Dash 8. THIS HAS been researched. It's got nought to do with being RUDE. Nev
  22. High(er ) cruise speeds mean you will feel rough air more and have to put more effort into the flying part. Winds can be significant low down on this route. Hot day Sea breeze effect at about 1400 local is strong when the ambient temp is high. Don't eat any SUSS food and you must carry WATER... Nev
  23. When YOU press the Button YOU can't hear them. Pause before transmitting and keep calls brief to reduce the Possibility of being OVER someone else.. You must account for ALL aircraft in the circuit or you are using HOPE. Don't be against Straight IN. They are on the ground and clear in no time. Nev
  24. The best place to ADJUST is on downwind BEFORE turning base (Track distance) but don't overdo it. Straight in will reduce time in the circuit. Always have an exit plan for a go around . Know the runway in use. Keep your transmissions short and clear. Nev
  25. The Poms never cleaned up Aus either. 1 Microgram of plutonium will kill you. The dust from tests went all over the east. Lots of leukemia in young people. Nev
