  1. I really have NO idea what you are talking about. Nev
  2. The test for that is "How would it be IF everyone did it? Nev
  3. Retracting the flaps would UP the stall speed by about 50 Knots from the TO setting. There was no assymetry and losing power would be very unlikely to be EVEN on Both engines That plane was stalled and draggy. The rotation and lift off was Normal. Why wasn't the GEAR retracted on a "positive climb " call. A DH Trident went in that way in England . Fell out of the sky with all three engines operating. unable to accelerate to the clean speed needed even though the gear was UP. Nev
  4. This IS getting pointless. You have a mental Block about the word "Command".. Pilots are only "Glorified BUS drivers" according to Bob Hawke. Nev
  5. It's very much a requirement built into the regulations. Pan Am were a big outfit, run well. Read the entire Wikipedia article . The Cause was never determined . MMA nearly lost their AOC. There were Many deficiencies in their OPS. including BAD Instrument Maintenance. Nev
  6. I still dream I'm smoking. I went absolutely Cold Turkey about 35 years ago. The only way. You have to really WANT to. Nev
  7. Tell them it's for Flood Mitigation and Fire Fighting. Nev
  8. CASA can't tell people to not Insure, or how to deal with a RISK to their Livelihood. It's a necessary cost of doing business. Claimants also have a right to proper compensation. Nev
  9. A hospital is one of the More dangerous places to be.. Riding a pushbike on the road also. Dropping Chutists.. Nev
  10. I commented 2 posts prior. Nev
  11. How would you know W&B weren't addressed? Let me assure you that it certainly would be. Nev
  12. What's THAT about, Keith? Nev
  13. Any one left alive on a ship is in command, regardless of their qualifications. Intuitive feelings don't carry any weight in Law. How the FTF decides to share the risk is their Call. They are the ones who can lose their House. Same as when you hire a car. You can choose to cover the excess, OR be liable for it. IF you don't like it go somewhere else. THAT's how it works. RAA can't over rule you either. You are MANAGING the risk in the Normal way. That's your right. Nev
  14. We are just repeating the same old statements. The person going solo is also able to assess that he/she knows enough to do what he/she has been taught and not attempt what they know little (or nothing ) about. That applies to ANY flight at any time for Recreational Pilots. You don't HAVE to fly. Nev
  15. There's NOTHING remarkable about THAT. Nev
  16. Is that an opinion or based on legal advice? Nev
  17. Insurance Cover Costs put Riding schools out of Business.. Nev
  18. Digital Battery Chargers do that. Nev
  19. Round and round it goes. Instructors get paid bugger all and I Never knew of schools which made a handsome profit. . That's the reality of the scene. Cheap Flying is a bit of an Illusion. Nev
  20. It's a fairly "Ordinary" Carburetter for an aeroplane. You won't accept that but it's a fact. What cars run carburettors these days? They are also in a bad spot. Floats are always a risk. If the fuel foams they sink and flood the Motor and use a lot of fuel. Nev
  21. You are just "muddying the waters" with all those other Irrelevant comparisons. Let's say a crew are incapacitated in flight. They both ate a similar chicken Meal for lunch. They are both in a bad way. The chief Flight attendant asks are there any people with flying experience on board. A passenger calls and it turns out he has some hours a while back on Cessna's so HE ends up in the seat up front. The ATC fellow asks Who is flying the plane? It's HIM as he's the Only one who is available. No one is going to say your Licence doesn't cover this Plane and it's not current either and he has no medical. Working with ATC and other sources on the ground, situations like this have had successful outcomes. Sometimes the BOOK goes out the window and compromise works. Nev
  22. Benzine (a Cyclic ring hydrocarbon) and tetra ethyl lead work entirely different ways. Both are bad for you. Paraffinic hydro carbons are a chain. Gases (short ones ) to Oils tars and waxes at the other end. Greases are soaps with oils added. often Lithium..Nev
  23. CASA definition of the PIC is not that great or useful. In multi crew cockpits it's PF and PNF when defining duties. The co-pilot will fly some legs but when push comes to shove the PIC doesn't change. One ship, One Captain. The conduct of a flight is not just Moving flight Controls. It's about management of the whole process. . When the Co Pilot fly's the Leg He/She DOESN'T log it as "in command". Nev
  24. Skip, You are just repeating what YOUR BELIEF is. To stay in business, the Organisation decides to Insure things. The next thing is how that cost is applied and who should PAY what. IF you (The Client) don't like the deal then go elsewhere.. Nev
