    On the suck side of a Water pump there is usually a coiled spring to Prevent the rubber hose collapsing. There's NOT ALWAYS Positive pressure and it's limited by the CAP at higher temps. The Pressure CAP raises the Boiling Point. Nev

    It's commonly used (very effectively) in cooling rubber Pipes and other ducting where Low pressure can exist and collapse the section. Pretty unlikely to fracture in those applications. Nev

    Not really, The Ohlsson (spark ignition) Motor there was out of date Long before got a Motor. A FROG 150, about 1953. I can't recall what became of it. I only flew it control line, Once. It would have been free flight after that. Maybe it thermalled away? Nev

    This "Constant power" thing is a misconstruction of the Issue. The first thing happening to an aero engine is FULL power from not fully warmed up for a max of 5 minutes, The time limit is because the engine is being used as a HEAT SINK. THEN IT climbs at METO to cruise level where it then drops Back to say 75% POWER till Top of descent. It doesn't get any rest. On one flight I did the time was 12 Hours. The four engines didn't miss a beat. (that time). Nev

    I personally think the chev Alloy V8 is a reasonable Motor for Aircraft, and said so BEFORE it was used in glider towing. It's NOT their High Performance engine though. It's a 2 valve Pushrod Motor. The Mercury V8 Motor is a very specialised Product. The Chev. alloy Block wouldn't like sea water. Even Cast iron doesn't. Nev

    Yes they are mass Produced and FAR better than Older engines ever were and relatively Much cheaper trouble free (Till your battery goes flat and all the Management disappears and they have the vehicle for a week) and MORE SPECIFIC to the USE they were designed for.     You should be talking of clearances, NOT tolerances and the clearances when the engine us Running. is what matters. 4 Valve heads are near impossible to cool effectively without liquid cooling as the 2 exhaust valves in each head are very close together. but are NOT needed. Good U/L engines shouldn't need to be complex. Liquid cooled engines run cooler than optimum for efficiency and Play up more in hot Ground temp environments. Ie Overheat on the ground if time is Prolonged. The also have the drag of radiators and vulnerability of Leaks and extra complexity, COST and weight and need to check Hoses, radiator Mounts water Pump seals etc and you don't want head gaskets and joins, IF they can be avoided.     Some Australian outlets for Chinese products MAY Choose to get a cheaper version. They will make what you want (as long as you keep a good eye on them). Their factories go for Miles. Chrysler/Jeep are no different .Some Indian stuff is real bad. Nev
