    The spring could fracture allowing a piece to enter the engine. Would not be the first time an unforseen event has occurred from a modification of a system.

    The Buick/Oldsmobile 215 alloy v8 was used and modified with OHC heads by Jack Brabham and Repco to win the 1966 F1 world championship. Another car engine, the BMW M10 4 cylinder was used with a giant turbo to win the 1983 F1 championship. Car engines can sustain high output with the correct parts. There is the autobahn, sustained high speed running. The problem with car engines in aircraft is usually not the core engine, it is all the other stuff, reduction drive compatibility with propeller and crankshaft etc.

    A plug was used to hold the mass balance weight in, the plug had no locking method and unscrewed jamming the elevator.

    So the switch failed to stay in the run position TWICE at London. The aircraft VT-ANX then flys back to Bengaluru India where it has been grounded, for 26 hours now. Something doesn't smell right. The last turn around at London was from 19.50 utc to 21.20 utc so it seems unlikely that the switch was replaced in London.

    I like Subaru. I have built a couple of "experimentals", and EA82 powered vw based off road buggy and an EJ22 powered 36metre boom crop sprayer, also have a current model Subaru BRZ with the FA24 engine, great car. Subaru engine in an aircraft is a definite no for me, not because of the core engine, it is all the other stuff that is needed. This is a good article that explains that and some history.     EA81 is the brumby engine, simple push rod engine. They don't make enough power to hurt themselves.

    This accident is interesting, it was caused by a modification to the aircrafts elevator to allow the balance wieght in the elevator horn to easily changed. Not all modifications are good.

    Windy, the app, is very good at showing what the wind is lickly to be at various altitudes.

    Aircraftspruce australia has them in stock if your manifold has the 8mm boss's welded in it. I have never had much luck with egts lasting in the thruster. Correct jets and a fuel pressure gauge has worked for me over a very long time.

    That's what was quoted in the article, they may have forgotten to refuel at the end. They also mentioned a tail wind. No different to stories of people towing their 3t caravan and only using 10l/100km. Petrol engines burn about 24lph per 100 continuous hp. Cruise @ 50% power of 42hp = 21hp = 5lph = 1.33usgph.

    900 mile delivery flight used only 12 us gal(45l), surely that is something you must really like. Did you see the wings fold easily and 5 will fit in a small T hangar.

    RV would takeoff in less then 300m, a very slight left turn, started early, looks like it would keep any aircraft departing 28 at Heck Field in a position to make a forced landing in the open cane fields south of the river. That would be my pre takeoff safety briefing to self. I do this to the right at my farm strip to avoid flying over a small scrub covered hill off the end of my strip.

    Not all single engine fire bombers, example Airtractor 802's have adsb, some will have a mode C transponder which only ATC or TCAS can see.

    Aircraft just landed very long on the short ultralight strip and had to brake hard or hit the fence.

    I would point out this is world wide and the RV8 is a very popular aircraft. As an RV owner I read all these accident reports and think is that scenario likely to happen to me. How you fly and where you fly is a big factor in risk. RV's are beautiful, amazing, capable safe aircraft.

    RV's normal have a lycoming. MKX was powered by a Subaru Ej257 turbo.

    Is your trigg adsb out ? That is the question. To be adsb out it must have GPS input. Simple way to find out is, as i have said before, disable the transmit function on the SkyEcho2, go flying, if your traffic screen is not showing your aircraft all the time then your trigg is not adsb out. When I am flying the RV6 with the SkyEcho2 only used for IN, ie transmit disabled, I see my tailbeaconX adsb out transponder all the time. It is a brilliant system because it continuously shows both the out and in is working correctly.

    I think he admitted his knowledge of rotax 900 series was limited. His knowledge of all things Cessna is remarkable. Great channel for those that like all things GA.

    Sydney radar will be able to see your mode s (with no GPS input if my memory is correct) transponder but us mere mortals with adsb in will not be able to see your transponder. We will be able to see your SkyEcho2. Fr24 shows your flight today, takeoff about 2pm local. As Coljones has pointed out Fr24 can show mode s no GPS input aircraft by using multilateration. I think this is what is happening, at one stage you were doing 730 knots near Mittagong, less ground receivers, hence errors in the data. If FR24 was seeing your transponder then the call sign in that box is not set correctly. Still 1200 today.

    Yes, but if on multiple occasions, the pilot failed to correctly answer simple MULTIPLE CHOICE questions about stalling then the pilot and instructor should have realised there was a problem.
