New report today about another incident in 2016, where an African youth was caught holding up a chemist shop with scissors. Police knocked him to the ground, kneed him in the back, punched him in the head and kicked him. Consensus on soshul meejar was that he got what he deserved, violence is the only thing they understand.

BP, pirates didn't have one eye' they covered one eye in the bright sunlight so that when they went below deck into the dark they could switch the patch and not have to wait till their eyes adjusted to the lower light. I saw it on QI!

I had one of a Commuter Airlines Piaggio P-166 taken the same day as the Skyvan (you can just see parts of two of them behind the Skyvan) but the digital image was corrupted, and I have no idea where the original slide is, probably somewhere in the back of a cupboard.

Although not at YMEN, this photo I took at YMMB of TAA Helicab VH-THG, at an open day in Jan 1963, appears in a TAA Museum publication.
And this is the ignominious end to one of Ansett's Bell 47J-2's, after years at a children's fun park, now sitting the the front of a farm on the Frankston - Dandenong Road. I flew as passenger in this chopper a number of times.
-
I've seen a couple of reports saying the pilot was an 84 year old.

In my thread Historical Photos from Essendon, I included a link to the history of the Ansett-ANA DC6B VH-INA. If you are interested in the history of any Australian airliner, the place to look is aussieairliners.org.
From Smithy's Southern Cross to the latest Boeing Dreamliner, this site has full histories, from completion of construction, to entering the Australian Register, to deregistering, sale overseas, and often to breakup for parts, this site has an unbelievable amount of data and thousands of photos. If you are not aware of this site, and have a few spare weeks to kill, it's well worth a checkout.
Here is just a small example of what it has to offer.
