Alan Joyce was on TV this morning saying QANTAS has recorded a before tax profit of $1.4 billion, and announced it will establish a new pilot training academy with the capacity to train up to 500 pilots a year. To be called the Qantas Group Pilot Academy, the school will open its doors in 2019 and is initially for direct entry cadets joining the Qantas Group, including Jetstar and QantasLink.

Probably derived from. Just about all I can find is in French. I did Google translate some small bits. All photos I saw were F-xxxx rego.
The plane is a Tissot-Charbonnier TC-180 Oceanair. There are TC-120, TC-160 and TC-180 models.
Here is a link to a club blog covering the building of a TC-120, again in French. If you wish to translate the captions to the photos, in a separate screen or tab, open Google and type "translate french to english". Copy the caption, paste it into the first box and the English version will appear in the right box.

An English language translated version of the page is available via Google but does not include the photos. Here is a sample of the caption by caption translation.

While you are all tearing your hair out (what little you may have left) trying to identify the above aircraft, can you answer this quiz question?
Who thought up the idea of towing a glider behind an aircraft?

There appears to be quite an amount of opinion on cruise ships. Let's take this discussion to Whats Up at this thread:
What is your favourite cruise ship

No takers on this French Amateur-built 4 seater? A few of them around. Google images has 20 photos, 6 aircraft in all, with rego F-****. This one recorded with Construction No. 18.

Sorry planey, had looked at the shipping times, got'em mixed up. I recall seeing the Encore mentioned when I looked them up a couple of days ago. The only other one (apart from the SoT) at Station Pier was the Astor, which was caught by the strong wind and suffered a gash in the side. Was pulled away by a tug and sailed, so the gash must have been high above the water line.

Unfortunately I won't be down that way on Wednesday, the Queen Mary 2 is due in.

Tesla's are becoming so common. Bringing my wife home from a concert at the Arts Centre Melbourne about 3 pm today, we passed a white one coming the other way. About 50 metres down the road, we came across this one parked in Linlithgow Avenue. We were stopped by a pedestrian traffic light, and as I had been down at Port Melbourne photographing a couple of cruise ships while she was at the concert, the camera was close handy so I grabbed it and snapped this for my daughter, who is a Tesla fanatic. (Any electric car for that matter). - Note: The light turned green as I took the picture, and there were a couple of cars in front of me. Traffic was moving a snails pace - so many roads being worked on and closed down to one or two lanes. Swan Street Bridge in particular.

My source called it the LASA T-bird (that's what is painted on the aircraft) - full title LASA (Thrush) T-bird 510G - original photo below. Same horse - different jockey.

What was funny, Bex, the comment on keeping the thread going, or the camo on the plane? Actually hadn't noticed whatever is appended under the right wing. That camo made removing the large rego quite a job. Name the plane and I'll post the original.
