  1. SAAA doesn't have rules about weighing aircraft, BlueA, CASA does. We just follow them. CAO 100.7. Myth bust 1: SAAA is not a self administering organisation that runs VH Experimental - CASA runs Experimental, we follow CASA regs, and we have a few approvals for a few things for our members. Really, same as RAAus has things for their members. And other orgs for their members.
  2. SAAA doesn't actually have W&Bal people (who will come weigh your aircraft), but some of our members are personally a CASA appointed Weight Control Officer - WCO - nothing directly to do with SAAA. Ceri (it's Welsh) - from Sydney area I think - she advertises in Aviation Trader, as do a few others around OZ. CASA will not release a list of all the WCO's that THEY appoint. There are more around than you might think, but finding them is difficult, they don't advertise, probably because it's something they do for their employer and it's not an activity they need to run around getting involved in for the general public. They might weigh an odd aircraft that is on their home airfield. As an SAAA member, I don't know what the RAAus rules are about who can do what with weighing. But I know what SAAA members cannot do. SAAA members only weigh their own aircraft, not anyone else's. Many SAAA members are also RAAus members who fly both flavors aircraft. I and many others try to help any RAAus members who might ask us something, and I find usually I have to just refer them back to their organisation RAAus because their question is outside our scope. We get calls from people who confuse SAAA with RAAus (or SAFA - ex HGFA) . Quite common, usually from people who have bought some plane or are considering buying some plane. We just point them in the right direction for their query and they are happy for the help.
  3. PB0029N is a Jabiru number only. Good advice, there will be numbers etched on the existing bearing, it will be something commonly available NSK or SKF. Bearing shops like CBC Bearings will only have good quality stock, wherever it is made. https://conbear.com.au/bearings/
  4. Thank you, but alas, there is no cloud for me. I'm doing all this on wifi if that makes a difference.
  5. Yep - that's where I'm getting this 73% from. It sure looks like it's just stalled. Garfly - I'll give that a whirl - thanks.
  6. iPhone it is. (shoulda said... eh....)
  7. OZrunways novice here - I hate technology. Trying to download latest maps in my phone, download goes to 73% with 73% of a red ring around it, and just stops. I have plenty of mb gb gigawatts storage available. Download to my tablet worked fine. Database shows 6 OCT but I can't tell if I have it all, or 73% of it. If I have it all, what's this Downloads 73% bizzo? Any ideas? - thanks.
  8. Hey, at least you got a message back! Can't say I ever did. Problem belongem dem fella. I know someone who just passed PPL and got awarded a CPL. Cool! That'll only take about a year to resolve probably, and a stat dec and six witnesses to say they did not do a CPL test.
  9. Perhaps clarify for the readers, you're only talking about a different tyre, nothing else?
  10. https://downunderpilotshop.com.au/products/pj068-microphone-plug $50 finder fee. Slip it under my hangar door....
  11. Nobody has asked "what torque is required and what did you actually take it to?" ???
  12. It must be true, I saw it on the internet! What do they do for fuel at Wellcamp (Toowoomba west)? I must say though, I have asked around a little, how does jet fuel get to say Melbourne Tullamarine, is there a pipeline from Yarraville or somewhere? Or do they truck it to just over the road from the airport? I travel past there a lot, I've never seen a steady stream of fuel trucks coming and going. Let's say there is a pipeline, and there probably is, WHERE is it, what underground route does it take, how did it get there - is it three feet under roads (unlikely!), what if it gets damaged by some muppet and his backhoe. With all the freeways and tunnels built and being built, a pipeline would have to be seven thousand feet underground to have not been chopped up yet. If it was put in when the airport was built, it's 50 years old now. Unless it was made of Wakandan Vibranium, it would need replacing at some point. It's never sprung a leak? I've always wondered about this. Yep, too much time on my hands.
  13. And the result was, beautiful blue sky there Friday, and almost the same Saturday, with some wind. Matt Hall and Emma McDonald did a great display Saturday afternoon, Emma leading in the EXTRA and Matt in the MX following.
  14. Driving up in the Mopar Thurs from VIC, probably in the rain all the way. Local report earlier today said blue sky there today but the wind was a little cool. My weather watchings in the last week - it's certainly improved from what was forecast. Hopefully it'll be OK. Bring jackets and spare shoes just in case.
  15. Right out of the Betoota Advocate, almost.
  16. And don't forget to read the lower ticker tape for more news flashes....
  17. and in just a short 7 or 8 hours the plane will be charged and ready to return!
  18. Them too - they's gots to gets up there somehow!
  19. Was the coffee van at a place that is really hot? (So hot, it's Me...................)
  20. Quite some years ago now, a young English couple came to Melbourne to work where I did - they arrived a couple of days before we had a run of 47 degrees for three days straight. Welcome to A-Straye-Ya.
  21. I'm more excited by their Tiangong space station, where a glass of water happily sits on a table beside all the "taikonauts". (did everyone see that one?)
  22. A 25 registered is an aircraft conforming to the now long defunct ANO 95.25 from 1985 era. (later, CAO 95.25) A 25 aircraft is not an LSA. - that's a whole different animal.
  23. Interesting that NZ ultralights are all properly country (ZK) registered. I went through Whanganui twice on the 20th June - by road, slurping my $3.15 a litre petrol.
  24. Kyneton does not charge landing fees Butch, and will have an RAAus Tecnam for training running very soon!
  25. Make sure you only use CASA approved dirt, and seek your approval 60 days in advance of a fire.
