Here are the U.S. unemployment figures from the Guardian, I don't think they are fudged in any way.
They haven't fudged them, just got the figures wrong; they said 10 million people lost their jobs and later 17% were unemployed.
157 million (48% of the population were employed so 1 million = 6.3% unemployed, which makes more sense and is no cause for alarm in these circumstances. We've had over 6% unemployed in Australia in the past.
What is more alarming is that 48% of the American population is paying taxes to support 52%
(In Australia 52% are paying for 48% which is just as bad)
Regardless of any virus, with the way our taxes are dished out by governments we must be getting close to the straw breaking the camel's back.

What I find strange is the unevenness of the COVID-19 infection areas and death tolls. It might as well be called "affluenza", because it's largely hitting the affluent, and regular traveller, nations.
In Australia we saw this because well heeled Australians were coming home infected, including Chinese "Australians' from around February, then the poorer ones who took their cruise regardless because they couldn't get a refund, and a lot came home, then of those that came home a few couldn't see the sense in self isolation so they mixed with the local population, so you see suburbs like Toorak and holiday areas like Mornington Peninsula with higher levels of infection. Now the Australians trapped overeseas are about to be brought home.
We're only into the first week of community transmissions, and the Australian control, with the AHPPC informing the Chief Medical Officers and the Chief Medical Officer informing the National Cabinet and the National Cabinet informing the Parliaments, seems to have pulled off the herdiong of the cats that is getting Australians to conform to the point where there's some stabilisation of numbers, but a photo of a Brisbane market today with hundreds if not thousands of people shoulder to shoulder is a good indicator that we will have incidents and break outs of the virus.
What I would like to see, is the relationship between smoking levels and COVID-19 infections and deaths. Spain and France and Italy are all heavy-smoking nations, and the death toll amongst those three nations is exceptionally high.This virus goes for the lungs and quickly produces pneumonia, so smokers are in the pre-existing respiratory group at risk, hence the urgency of flattening the cirve so we don't run out of our tiny stock of ventilators.
I also saw figures today, that the U.S. unemployment rate, has rocketed from 3.5% to 17%! Could this be the death knell for Trump, who extolled his leadership skills, by a (formerly) booming U.S. economy?I'm a bit surprised at that because I thought it was around 1million this morning. 17% would be roughly 40 million out of work.
Americans, particularly tend to drag you down and run over the top of you if there's an emergency, so he only has to offer them money; but he's clearly showed confusion in the last few days.

SSSNo, rasped OT, I came out earlier with the wife to play a round. She hit the ball over the fence into that paddock, and we were searching for ten minutes for the ball. Finally I saw it jammed in the north end of a southbound cow. I yelled "Hey love, that looks like yours" and she hit me in the throat with a five iron. I.....

The point I am making is that provision a generic term in law (when referencing statutory or delegated instruments) that is those statutory or delegated instruments.
As you and I both know, quite often legal definitions of terms are not the same as common or derived parlance.
Where there is that variance, the meaning can be added into the Bill in the definitions section. The problem is aout 99% of us aren't interested enough to take part in the public consulation phase of an Act, or the Bill phase, where we can write to our politicians and have them make the clarification and once the Act is gazetted the train has left the station. It helps enormously if you're in an Association which actively watches for industry changes.
BTW - Congrats on getting Vic government departments to correct things and do the right thing - from experience, that is not eaasy unless you're on the inside..One one, I wasn't on the inside, but found out quite late that an Australian Design Rule for truck braking was going to require trailers to be fitted with park brakes to be able to restrain the combination of towing vehicle and trailer on a 20% grade (which is very steep) at full GCM. This was quite logical for a semi trailer, but I was designing all sorts of odd trailers where it would have been impossible to comply with. The one which I remember was three axle touring coaches weighing around 21 tonnes which towed a small tent/lunch trailer weighing around 2 tonnes. I wrote directly to the Minister for Transport with such a lurid list of combinations that part of my letter became part of the new Australian Design Rule. Mostly the Bills aren't that bad that you could do that and get action.
I was never inside, but probably loosely known, so with some advantage, but I found some Departmental staff to be more receptive than others, and often, if the email was non-critical and they didn't have to defend their turf, they acquiesced. After one of my NSW customers was repeatedly fined when their trucks delivered into Victoria for not having the name and address painted on the driver's door (not a requirement in NSW), I wrote to Vicroads pointing out that Vicroads and Police had more accurate information on the owner on their number plate database, so we should abolish the practice in Victoria, his fines were cancelled and I received a letter six months later so say that an amendment would be going through the Parliament to abolish the practice.
I would always encourage people, if they are having difficulty with something, or if something is obviously wrong, to write to the relevant Department. If they don't know, they think everything is OK.

EASA CANNOT DO IT. The regs are so poorly written and change at such pace, contradictory, etc, that even instructors and EASA itself can't always work them out. When asked what a speciic provision meant, the response was, just comply with the spirit of the regulation... How can you operate like that???

However, simple Chirchillian English means less mistakes.
Those complicated words are often used in documents through thoughtlessness, and authorities will frequently change them if you make them aware of the confusion, albeit in some cases they have to wait for a Parliamentary approved amendment.
I've succeed, just by sending an email with an explanation, in having wording changed by Department of Transport, and Vicroads, and also getting DoT to post their regulations online as live documents, so when you were looking up a regulation it would be the latest version (prior to that you had to keep buying books and were never too sure which was the latest.

When the CAM systems had been set up for the VN Commodore, which from memory was the Opel Kapitan on steroids the story circulated that panels were hard to fit, and it was found that one side was being set up x mm (I think about 6) ahead of the other.

Remnark is on the Murray about 15 miles upstream of Renmark, and some NES readers would have visited the Remnark Gliding Club, and had the crap scared out of them by some of the loops, wingovers and dutch rolls performed by the inmates of "Rem" which the locals use to refer to this hidden gem of a town, to set it apart from the Sh!thole down the river.
Renmark had been a promising town where graziers and cockies went to retire after a lifetime of raising sheep or wheat, but it suffered terribly when Turbo Senior, started a possum farm and gin distillery on a hidden tributary of the Murray downstream from Remnark, but unfortunately upstream from Renmark. No one could pinpoint the cause of Renmark's water developing a bitter taste. Not being the sharpest tools in the drawer they blamed it on a Wattle Bark processing plant and sheep wash at Gurra Gurra.
Remnark of course was the town where the first powered flight took place in the world, a decade before the Wright Bros did their thing. Gliding had been going on at the airfield since the early 1800s, after Ebenezer Lock (1762-1847) invented a working glider to use on his farm for stock mustering and checking bores. Ta Lee Ho (grandfather of Hi Ho) was playing around with his Harley one day. Half the parts were missing as usual and he couldn't get wheel bearings, so he thought "What if I put the old Harley into the glider?", and said to himself "I could!" and the rest was history, or would have been except everyone from Remnark got used to Ta Lee Ho flying around mustering his cattle and checking his bores, and no one thought to tell the newspapers (a common problem even today).
One morning, which was particularly cold in Remnark......

And now back to making aircraft parts, this was a 'first run for real' tentative drilling operation today, worked out superb, 166 holes along each of 3 sides (500 holes) of a 6 meter square tube .
What's critically important is the accuracy for matched hole building.

I can only assume that we are talking about the same thing, but frequently we aren't.
I am talking about people not recording minor defects on the MR, because it's too easy for someone with absolutely no idea to ground the aircraft unnecessarily because they don't understand what they are looking at.
I'm not suggesting that people should't record minor defects, but that the system that it works under is overly complicated.

However, you will notice that the author refers to multiple publications....all just to figure out whether you're allowed to fly it with a minor defect.
People will use a simple system, the more complex, the more it will be avoided.
We are talking about the same system. If it's all too hard on all these different aspects of flying, maybe its best to move to something less challenging than aviation.

Not many people know that Renmark was founded on the Murray by the South Australian Government to hide the dark secret of the original town of Remnark, where Salty's ancestors live for generations, his father Old Brine, being a Yabby butcher who made his , money from the passing Cobb&Co tourist trade, bullocky's who wanted to eat anything but salted beef, and Cannabis smugglers.
Loxie's father "Stocksie" was also a resident of Remnark where he used to bolt the likes of Cappy's father, Turbo's father, bull's father and Planey's grandfater into the stock so they could be pelted with the oranges grown in the fledgling orchards for crimes such as not practising self-isolation, .........

What counts as exercise?
There are a number of options other than walking, jogging, or riding a bike.
Still they come.
Police in several States have been shown walking around the Parks and getting sunbakers, talkers, coffee drinkers, breast feeders, pusher pushers to go home. The Stage 3 message is "If you can stay home you must stay home."
Going on a solo motorcycle ride counts as exercise, according to the Queensland Health Minister's office -
Petrol stations must be one of the best places to get contaminated. Everyone has to pick up the pump nozzle & often the office/payment area is quite confined. Wearing disposable gloves is a good idea but most people do not know how to remove them without contaminating themselves. It is dead simple & taught during first aid training. Then of course it is "Wash your hands thoroughly" & don't touch your face..
The rules not only vary by State but also by the day. In QLD you can go fishing in your Tinnie (changed from not allowed yesterday) & you can paddle board, kayak etc but must observe social distancing. Changes have occurred overnight in NSW too. As an Aerodrome Operator executive member I can go to the Aerodrome for work. My labour is free & mostly entails mowing and maintenance work. This can't be done from home. The aerodrome must be maintained in an operative condition for Emergency services. Like everyone I can also purchase fuel & that is about the only activity that involve getting near anyone else if I choose to go to my hangar, & go for a fly solo & return.
This blew up in Victoria yesterday (not through illegal flying), and overnight Fishing, Camping Boating and Golfing ( where people had been using the same reverse-logic excuses as we find here) attracted a $20,000 fine if anyone is caught.

There are several dedicated Australian Government websites, plus Commonwealth Government and State websites where you can get this information which applies to Australia and comes from Australians.
What the Prime Minister has told you, and your State Chief Medical Officer has told you, and I think was available on this site was that several vaccines have been found that kill the virus, including at least two that CSIRO are working on at their Laboratory in Geelong.
As guidance to how long before we have a vaccine - Do we have a vaccine for the prior versions of this virus ?There is no prior verson of this virus; it is a new one.
Again, what you have been told by the Prime Minister etc and the Scientists is that testing for human use will take about 12 months.
So, effectively we have to get through this season by learning how to maintain separation from each other, and what we all should be doing is thinking about how we could do meaningful work using safe procedures.
As the Dr said - this CCP virus will be an on-going thing like the common cold.There is no such thing as CCP virus. This one started in China, but could easily have started anywhere else in the world. Around the 1970s there was a breakout of avian influenza on a duck farm in Keysborough, Victoria. Avian influenza does transfer to humans and is a virulent killer, but was stopped in its tracks when the Victorian Department of Health ordered the killing of a million ducks. Some goose in China could easily have called it the Australian Virus, but they all had more sense.
Covid-19, when a vaccine is approved will be less critical, if people have vaccinations before the season, and there are plenty that don't.
Most likely every time you lift the ‘social distancing’ rule there will be a new outbreak.Correct.
Right now you could argue that allowing people to go to essential work cold be spreading the virus, and if there is any spread from that, those businesses will have to be isolated, with workers living on site or in accommodation nearby.
How long do we keep every one home ?Until a virus is found or we learn new techniques of separation (like "islands" of people or zones where everyone in the island is clear)
We haven't gone to Stage 4 yet; community transmission has begun in Stage 3 and will continue to rise if people dopn't stay home.
