That looks a real neat little aircraft for the money.
Many hours of enjoyment to be had in that one, i'm sure:thumb up:.

The umpire is after all, just human,

Of course!
Like a few others here.
Not many, I said just a few.

Without the scarf causing all that extra drag, you'd have probably got an extra 20knots (at least) out of the old girl, and caught them Tim.[GALLERY=media, 3417]Tim Heylbut | Facebook by flyerme posted Feb 12, 2015 at 6:08 AM[/GALLERY]Maybe next time.

What a bunch of deviates, you should be ashamed of yourselves, you're no better than me!

I'm not ashamed, memories keep me feeling young!
Yeeeee Ha!

I do that already FT and by the way, can you just imagine me lugging my desk-top computer, keyboard and monitor and setting it all up on the Recreational Flying page for all to see, while I just get a quick "short back and sides" for even less RAAus promotional time?

Whilst for health/financial reasons I cannot currently do any flying, I used to so look forward to be able to pick up a copy at my local newsagent which still has a thriving business in my area.
As a result of my enthusiasm and showing the magazine to others, I have introduced 5 people to flying, who otherwise would probably not have done so.
For a couple of family members to chip-in for a TIF for a nephew or grandsons Christmas or Birthday present, more often than not gets them hooked, and they can't stop telling all their friends about the experience.
I'm sure if a FTF was to approach local schools with an inviting TIF offer on the notice board, there would be plenty of takers, and with a quick call to the local newspaper to take a few photo's and give it a bit of editorial, I'm sure a lot of interest would be generated.
Has anyone tried this approach?
At one time I used to take and leave behind an old copy of the magazine when I visited the doctors, dentist and barbers shop. On my next visit most of the old magazines were much about the same, but the flying ones seemed to have been pinched?

A very costly mistake for sure.

Probably best to ask Howard at Hughes Engineering in Ballina NSW on 02 6686 8658 as he designed it in the first place.

It's spectacular whichever angle you view it from, even freezing your t*ts off early in the morning as the sun rises.
Most of the scenic tour flights seem to fly well over it though, and it's probably just as good to see from the ground.

Back when I was about 20, and on a camping trip in the UK with a couple of old schoolmates, I too was confronted with rising water levels in a stream after very heavy rains. The farmer who's property it ran though, suggested that it should be ok to drive through.
After getting stuck and needing his tractor to pull us out, he said "funny that, it only comes half way up my ducks"

Maybe that was the start of global warming just over 50 yrs ago?

I'd agree, maybe a carbon cub with balloon tyres and someone knowledgeable on the stick, but not with me as a PAX.
I've climbed that rock a few times and from what I've seen, I find it hard to believe.

Another sad event marks our copybook.
Not sure what he was flying at the time, but that makes no difference to the outcome for those left behind.

Outside the Martin Baker factory near London, they used to have a sign to update the public to how many pilots lives their ejector seats had saved.

Followed by, you can choose your friends, but sadly, not always your family.
Some simply do not have plane thinking:plane:.

Sea Fury with all it's grunt, takes some beating.

Of course they do, but only if it's a Good Year!Quiet true, dumbness doesn't seem to be limited to fair hair, well at least not in my experiences.I've had 4 or 5 people (mostly brunettes) look at my bushwheels in horror asking how they got enough traction to get me airborne...................... I never realised how many people actually think that a plane gets off the ground because of ground drive wheels!!! -
Bet you can't hear what she's saying about you, in the land of the long white cloud, assuming she swam that far.

Gethomeitis has an ugly set of teeth that can bite families hard, sadly.
Put this on your checklist if thinking of heading off in doubtful conditions.

I've just returned from the most wonderful trip-----------------------------------------------------------------I took the mother-in-law to the airport.
I'm thinking of writing a book, because I should now be able to finish a sentence.

I went and saw my doctor today for a check-up, he said you should live to the ripe old age of 71
I said I am 71, to which he replied "Good, always trust your doctor"

Migrant families? Where I live in NSW the ones pumping out endless kids needing welfare money are exclusively white home-grown, born and bred aussies. In fact only a few weeks ago I had to help a migrant Asian family who run a local fish & chip shop when a bunch of our proud home grown aussie white kids (not a day older than 12 or 13) came in and tried to steal stuff out of their drink fridge. They are repeat offenders. I think we should clean up our own backyard before we throw stones at the migrant families.
Fair comment dutch! In so many cases what you describe is due to lack of discipline in the home.Migrant families? They are repeat offenders. I think we should clean up our own backyard before we throw stones at the migrant families. My girlfriend recently broke down recently returning from a late night function. In desperation she knocked on the only door that had a light on as she doesn't have a mobile phone yet wanted to phone the NRMA. Once inside she witnessed two mega sized TV's, Mum chopping chillies and seven kids sewing track-suit pants at almost 2am. She commented that it was late for the kids to be up, to which they replied, "thats nothing, the trackies have to be ready for the markets in the morning". On asking the father what he did for a living? He said he didn't have a job at the moment, to which she relied, "that's a shame, its a bit difficult to get a job at the moment" He added that he'd been in Australia for 11yrs and never found any work.
The following day I drove past their place and saw him getting out of his nice new HSV while probably drawing around $1800 a week or more on welfare which the likes of you and I are paying for.
No wonder i'm feeling a bit pi**ed off, but fortunately they are not all the same, though far too many are.

This thread is such interesting reading, and I really appreciate the input from those in the know like dutchroll and Dusty Crophopper:duck for cover:(sorry FH)
I would have thought that the more aeronautical knowledge the better, and would contribute to a safer pilot when the electronics have a glitch for whatever reason.
However I know a nice guy with heaps of experience on different types, also as an instructor, works on our favorite airlines planes, and would love to fly even RPT, and yet they claim he's too experienced for their normal intake.
I know i'd sooner fly with him, than a young sim jockey probably chosen by an accountant type who only looks at the bottom line..
Experience normally has to be paid for, and rightly so.
Just tell that to the bean-counters, and ask them who'd they like to fly with, knowing that there was a chance that something may go belly-up during their flight, before they board..

I think Abbott starting to hand out knight-hoods is a great thing. Some migrant families who pump out endless kids needing our welfare money, should also be encouraged to wear them.
