  1. I had an ex-cab Ford falcon that I bought from my brother-in law some years ago that had 670,000kms on the original exhaust. That was straight lpg and run 24hrs a day. Possibly the constant running at fairly high temperature contributed to it's longeveity? That was original mild steel exhaust.
  2. Whether Lobster or crayfish, if he sends some to The Oaks for pilot appraisal, i'm certain he'll get approval either way. They're always happy to advise, and so good like that!😜
  3. Gee! some blokes have a great life, envied a bit by others. Never forget that.
  4. Like others, we can't wait to see the finished product of years of your hard work. Don't put 100 percent reliance on the liars in the met office to predict when weather is good for painting.

  6. Sounds like you made a wise decision skippy. There's always a better favourable day. No point in pushing unfavourable boundaries.
  7. That's utter BS. Numberplate technology comes at a pretty hefty price, but so does the extra wages for all the people involved who process these so called indisgressions. Time to think seriously to whom we vote for. Don't visit there, and they get nothing. Just what they deserve. Unfortunately, greed is so contageous these days.
  8. It's a myth that all aircraft owners are wealthy. Sadly not all see it that way. A bit more of give us your cashitis, you could call it plane robbery.
  9. Take a look at Bankstown Airport. Largely become a commercial hub growing fast by the day as untold amounts of money are poured into the site for development. It's run by Aeria Management Group AMG who also control Camden Airport. AMG is owned by Aware Super, one of Australia's largest profit-for-members superannuation funds. The massive development taking place there has to be seen to be believed. Some of the buildings are that long you could almost put a runway on the roof for light sport aircraft, as off-runway space deminishes. All very good for some, until there is a major mishap such as happened at Essendon. EFOT and limited space available.
  10. Possibly bare feet donning a few bindy's, so you don't press the rudder pedals harder than absolutely necessary 😜
  11. Welcome Jack! Lots of good advice on here to learn from. Occasional bit of harmless BS said in jest, normally with a wink. Stick with us, i've enjoyed my time here for the past 19yrs even though like others I no longer fly.
  12. More fun i'm sure than driving the estimated 16 1/4hrs by road each way. Don't even begin to compare delivery costs of documents to Australia Post. Glad you had a safe trip and the Sonex performed well.

  14. That's great Danny. Necessity is the mother of invention they say. Keeps the fingers away from the area that bites..
  15. Talking of motors, I made a 46inch RAF crash fire tender boat radio controlled with an 8cc Taplin Twin diesel in it. What a beautiful motor that was, so smoth running and powerful. Today they fetch a small fortune among engine enthusiasts. It was great for chasing the ducks on Wimbledon Common.🦆🦆
  16. OMG! This post brings back so many distant memeories, From running many miles to get a flyaway aircraft and cremating crashes of the day. I still wear a bit of a scar where I got hit on the cheek bone just missing my eye with an aluminium spinner I did'nt see coming on a free flight model that was coming into land.
  17. Memories! for many. I never mentioned the word "happy" It's a sore point for some.
  18. One before first flight I assume, and 2 bandaids after. Many of us old guys experienced the same.😢

  20. A farmer who was pee'd off with unwelcome people using his private road, one day saw somone drive across his creek and disapear up to the roof of their car. All he could say to them with a wry grin was |"I don't understand how that could happen, the water only comes half way up my ducks"
  21. Surely it's what's known as an ultralight ultralight. Interesting though! Not good once the sun gets up and thermals kick in. You could wind up anywhere, even places you'd never wish to visit..
  22. So nice to be fit (would'nt really know) Good onyer as they say.
  23. Not wrong there Sue. Miss that smiling face and Raybans. I feel the same.
