  1. My grandmother was paying the milkman one day and his horse-drawn cart was stopped in the middle of the road.

The horse did a pile of droppings where it stood.

Grandma said to the milko "that's good, i'll pick that up and put in on my rhubarb", to which he replied, "don't fancy that much lady, my wife puts custard on mine"

    True story.

  2. Obviously Ian Bent at CAMit sees the effect of it enough to incorporate an oil injector system for use on shutdown. Nev

Sounds like a great idea to me. The old-fashioned Redex lubro-chargers are still around. I think it pumped 2cc from memory into the inlet manifold as you shut-down. Just enough to leave an oily film on the bores.

Had a Morris 1100 fitted with one decades ago, which I thrashed the hell out of as a company rep. It had just over 200,000 miles on it when I got rid of it, and it was still running quite well, which is not bad for a small BMC "A" series engine. No wonder Datsun took on the basic design with a few mods for their 1200.

I did use to change oil and filter more regularly than most though.

I'm a firm believer in it's merit's, especially in colder climates. Most of the ring wear takes place on starting from cold.

  3. The daughter asks her Dad, "Dad there is something that my boyfriend said to me, that I didn't understand.""He said that I have a beautiful chassis, lovely airbags and a fantastic bumper.."

Her Dad said, "You tell your boyfriend that if he opens your bonnet and tries to check your oil with his dipstick"

"I will tighten his nuts so hard that his headlights will pop out and he will start leaking out of his exhaust pipe."

  5. I always respect your professional views Dutch and love your input, but I think what Frank is saying is that many still like very basic flying without all the bells and whistles.

I think he accepts that there is an element of risk in the basics which many still like, but it suits some with shallower pockets, who otherwise would be grounded.
