  1. Check the fees at Warnervale. Looks like $25 to land and take off, $30 to park overnight, $100 to refuel (plus the cost of fuel). This may not be current but if they are still charging this then clearly they don't really want aircraft there. From the council https://consultation.wyong.nsw.gov.au/d-and-r/notice-of-variation-to-revenue-policy-warnervale-a/supporting_documents/WARNERVAL_AIRPORT_PROPOSED_201314_FEES_AND_CHARGES.pdf

Just read the list of exhorbitant fees:yikes:. And we all thought that Ned Kelly was dead.

Looks like the only thing they forgot, was the old fashioned coin slots to use the toilets.

I flew in there many years ago in a Warrier and don't remember there being any charges at that time.

  2. FOR SALE! (Not a genuine ad)

Numerous copies of Sport Pilot and earlier RaAus magazines.

Sure to considerably appreciate in value, due to their rarity.

Too valuable to respond to Nigerian scammers:yikes: but they would look great framed, and hanging on the club house wall.

  3. 098_welcome.gif.81ff07d492568199326e4f64f78d7bc6.gif Redsky,

Be honest with us, can you read that funny wording that they've changed to on the road signs now (Welsh language), or are you flying too high for that, that you don't care?

No need to thank us, it's great to have you onboard.

Send us some pic's when you get time.

  4. I'm a firm believer in a good upper cylinder lubricant (possibly because I'm an on old fart that's used it for half a century)

Not studied the compounds in recent times, but Redex used to soften carbon deposits preventing valve seat burning and loss of compression, kept the rings doing what they were supposed to do by not sticking in their grooves, reduced carbon build-up on plug points and also left a slight trace on the bores which reduced wear on start-up'

I believe it also had a slight trace of detergent and wax in it which helped protect the bores.

Reducing friction heat, plus allowing the compression to be maintained would surely help to overcome many of the engine problems that i've read about on here for the past few years

Just my simple opinion, make of it what you will.

  5. As for me, I have purchased numerous flying magazines in recent months, but sadly not the Sport Pilot, which I normally passed on to someone else who showed a little bit of enthusiasm about learning to fly.

Looks like I might have to take up knitting instead.

I would not have objected to a reasonable increase in the price of it either.

  6. Although I still follow commercial and military aviation to some degree, it was only due to finding a copy of the magazine that I became interested in recreational matters. Otherwise I'd still be oblivious to the existence of RAA and the RP certificate. When factoring in circulation most publishers consider the value of the copy being passed on.

That I think is an understatement, especially when it comes to trying to improve membership by making people aware!

  7. Flew there with my nephew from the UK about 12yrs ago in his mates Comanche. After flying like a complete d***head on the way there with his VFR license cloud diving , I contacted my neice and returned by road.

I was not impressed by his antics, and with three unavoidable? mishaps since, managed to convince nephew and his partner not to fly with him again.

There is not a lot of margin for error flying into some of these places, and that's a bit of an understatement.

  8. They keep going on about designing some form of tracking device for them. Has anyone thought of taking the Spot Tracker with them? Too easy huh

Ian was selling them, but I'd already bought the same model.

If he's quiet at the moment, don't disturb him, he's probably in the middle of negotiations.

My son borrowed my car a couple of months ago to take some chickybabe to an event and forgot where he parked it. I got a phone call at almost one in the morning which pleased me no end. I was able to track it, and tell the boof-head where it was parked. so they do work for sure.

I'm glad I didn't get a text message via it's vibration alarm from the back seat:bash: I wouldn't have been able to sleep!

  9. 10,000!!??Not 1000?

Gee you must have good ears!

Maybe not 10,000 feet, but certainly flying high.

The new battery in the hearing-aid simply works wonders, but so does the old one when the girl friend is in a cranky mood, I have been known to swap them for a peaceful life. 007_rofl.gif.8af89c0b42f3963e93a968664723a160.gif(only kidding)

  10. As they say, you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

Wherever it's held, distance to travel and limitations in accommodation will always restrict some from attending.

Narromine certainly used to be well attended, but could have been even more so, with the availability of better visitor transport to and from the venue.

I for one, would like to see it back there.

  11. I heard it too while outside having a smoke and feeding the mosquito's, i'm in Earlwood, not far away.

Periodically, I hear what sounds like a fairly small twin aircraft flying back and forth at a reasonable altitude maybe 10,000ft for maybe an hour or so, quite often late at night, but sometimes during the day.

I've not been able to locate it on Flightradar24 and wonder whether it is being used to check radar or something similar, as it certainly doesn't seem to be flying A to B.

Any ideas what the purpose of the flight is?

  12. A maid asked for a pay increase. The wife was very upset about this and asked: "Now Maria, why do you want a pay increase?"Maria: "Well Senora, there are three reasons I want an increase. The first is that I iron better than you."

Wife: "Who said you iron better than I?"

    Maria: "Your husband said so."...

    Wife: "Oh."

Maria: "The second reason is that I am a better cook than you."

Wife: "Nonsense, who said you were a better cook than I?"

    Maria: "Your husband did."

    Wife: "Oh."

Maria: "The third reason is that I am a better lover than you."

Wife (really furious now): "Did my husband say that as well?"

Maria: "No Senora, the gardener did."

    SHE GOT THE RAISE :)

So did the gardener, if the story's true
