  1. There's a guy who regularly flies one in a paddock opposite the old Hawker De Havilland complex at Bankstown Airport.

He looks a bit like a spinning version of this. I remember that feeling well!

  2. Hi,I am currently in training at YRED for my PPL. Should be done by now but a kangaroo decided to jump out in front of me on the highway when I was was riding my motorcycle and delayed my training by 8 months. Andy.

Which just goes to prove that once bitten by the flying bug, there aren't many antidotes.

Glad you survived the kangaroo incident, they can be real nasty.

My son with 2yr old grandson onboard recently hit one writing off his Honda CRX on The New England Highway at night.

Dad advised Pacific Highways a bit better at night in that regard, but how often do kids listen to old farts like me?

    Good luck with the training.

  3. The fact that someone goes by the title of a scientist, don't read too much into that and fool yourself.

About 4 decades ago I did some work with a scientist? who wrote a paper on the flammability of materials for use in amongst other things, aircraft.

He was well paid for his? so called research, and I have never read a bigger load of guestimate drivel in my life, so don't get too impressed by a title alone.

If some pilots were to read about the demise of the early DH Comets, they might learn that Cb conditions are not to be taken lightly.

As the saying goes, there's no substitute for real experience

  4. Cb in whatever area you fly can be a serious worry, and best to stay well clear.

Flew back from Melbourne to Sydney this arvo, and you could clearly see a really ugly anvil shaped Cb well to the east, which probably went up to in excess of 45,000ft.

But felt comfortable that I was with a well trained Qantas crew who stayed well clear, as opposed to some other cheapie overseas airlines, which seem a bit laxed in avoiding crook weather in their local areas.
