  1. Agree, Sonex need to checkout how the Vixxen is setup.
  2. It's an amp meter. As Flyboy says.
  3. That's how it is 95% of the time, when clear too many visual references can be seen so hard to find the right heading without compass or the GPS aides.
  4. I regularly make a written note of my total error between aircraft compass and chart heading on my flight record sheet so I can use that info for heading whenever / if ever needed. Just a habit of mine.
  5. These are made with brother label printer. Been over 10 years now. Allows your personal requirements.
  6. I used a brother label printer black background and white letters and numbers. Looks nice for my requirements. There is a topic show us your panels and you will see a variety of print work to get ideas.
  7. And be aware of target fixation. 🙃
  8. Regarding PLB etc, Best to consider carrying two PLB's (don't want your one to be U/S or damaged when needed, practical backup) Water (plenty) in multiple containers (guard against a leak and can help stowage), some food, first aid kit, light full cover clothing and foot ware. (Even a boat 'V' sheet - orange can be helpful to aide detection - cheap and light.) These are my go to items for outback trips. Also a handheld VHF radio will be helpful.
  9. They are suitable and need slight alteration of wiring, Rotax part is plug and play with existing. The item mentioned is interesting and nice on pocket. The Carr115 looks good.
  10. Did you sort an answer to this question so you get a suitable one? (Compatible Vehicles: Different motorcycles have different magneto output voltage, power, and other parameters. When ordering, you will need to select a voltage stabilizer that matches your model.) Let us know how you get on.
  11. Good news, just buy the Rotax one (it'll be plug and play, ensure earthing connection is good, I fit dedicated negative from reg / reg to battery, don't rely on air frame) Yep the Rotax ones can be a bit sus but you want to be flying now; so sort an alternate one later if you want.
  12. Hook up a multimeter to a male plug for the 12v cig lighter type outlet and see what volts your making, needs to be 13.6 +.
  13. First checks after start includes voltage increase to 13.6 - 13.8v; if that does not occur then you will be doing a set of checks (usually faulty rec/reg or if lucky just poor connections to the rec/reg. Do your volts increase after start?
  14. Reuse original one this time, make sure you use two spanners on drain nut. One for can hex and one on drain nut and undo between spanner forces.
  15. It has a circular cutter; they all have a circular cutter; same as copper pipe cutters.
  16. There was a story about aluminium hulled and cabin vessels were a mercury filled thermometer broke and the ball of mercury corroded a hole down through the hull.
  17. Practical Implications The destructive effects of mercury on aluminum are particularly critical in industries where aluminum is a primary material, such as aerospace and automotive sectors. The presence of mercury can lead to catastrophic failures if not properly managed. For this reason, the transportation and use of mercury in environments where aluminum is present are heavily regulated. In summary, mercury can have detrimental effects on aluminum
  18. I use the AIRWOLF CAN CUTTER size for ROTAX FILTERS, sent you a pm as have a second one in its box package and never used.
  19. Only mercury, wipe liberally with mercury and there will be no visible corrosion in no time:)
  20. Stainless not best, used to penetrate corrosion between the two metals in the marine environment with aeroguard; yep the insect spray. Not kidding either.
  21. I recall one of the aims / criteria was to use the existing cowls without need to modify if possible. That way you offer a direct engine swap package with existing shape.
  22. Too much speed and you can't land, may get wheels on deck but won't stop, if speed kept up. There is a sweet speed spot area.
  23. A lady fitted a washer to the merlin a number of years back and it performed better, development and refinement is a good thing, innovation.
