  1. A man was sitting at the bar at Mascot Terminal and looked up to notice a really beautiful & smartly dressed woman sitting next to him. He thought to himself: ‘Wow, she’s so gorgeous and it looks like she must be an air hostess. I wonder which airline she works for?’ "I still call Australia home" he says to her. She pulled away from him & gave an ice cold glare. ‘Obviously not with QANTAS’ he thought.

Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta Airline slogan, "Love to fly and it shows?" She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself: 'Well, she doesn’t work for Delta.’

A moment later, another slogan popped into his head, so he leaned towards her again and said, "Something special in the air?" She gave him the same confused look, and he mentally kicked himself, while scratching Singapore Airlines off the list.

He thought ‘Well perhaps she works for Thai Airways…’ and said "Smooth as Silk?"

This time the woman turned on him and said, ‘What the **** do you want?’

The man smiled, slumped back on his chair, and said "Ahhhhh, Jetstar!"

  2. I like the earlier Micheal Moore Doco's " Sicko " and "Goodbye Colombine" better. Heavily biased but great entertainment.

I would recommend all Michael Moore's movies also downloaded via torrent - that way you get them all for free and are not contributing to the corrupt capitalist system. You KNOW he would want you to do that. 021_nod.gif.30c66a33e1ed960b5b5d3fc7b345b58d.gif

  3. This is what the "Sub-Prime" mess in the US was all about - the fact that the people given the loans had no way of paying them off with the resultant increase in financial defaults and foreclosures.

Apparently the US government forced the banks to make most of these dodgy loans... under Clinton they passed laws requiring banks to lend a certain % of their home loans to the lower income folk or face heavy fines. Bill now admits it was a real bad idea.

Marxist Moore hates capitalism so much he apparently has given away all his wealth and gone to live under Communism where everyone is peaceful, equal and living in harmony for the common good. augie.gif.8d680d8e3ee1cb0d5cda5fa6ccce3b35.gif

But I agree with the folk above in the sense that our Capitalist system has gotten very corrupted and regulated to death and the financial system is a cesspool.

  4. Just read an article that says Samsung has sold almost twice as many smart phones as Apple has done so far this year...

Interesting how the situation can change so rapidly in this field, companies like RIM and Nokia that were whales only a short time ago are floundering now (just swapped my Nokia for a Samsung today).

A quote from the Ozrunways guy just a year ago:

"We have removed most references to Android from our website now; we have different priorities and while Android phones are doing OK, Android tablet sales are, how shall I put this politely, abysmal? We are a small team and can't spread ourselves too thin, so we'd rather focus on making OzRunways for iOS the best it can be before we look at other platforms."

  5. I seem to recall that ADSB world over isnt always the same thing. So, no matter what you do make sure its Ok in Australia.....there were some white papers on teh Australian iteration of ADSB and what they had to do to their box to make it work.

Oh my, don't tell me this stupid country wants to set its own silly little local regulations again?? bomb.gif.8dfedc171d37efc22ba0dd32e933ffc0.gif

  6. I'm wondering if there is an inherent problem with training in aircraft like the LSA 55 which is known to have a few quirks that take time to get used to as compared to say learning in a Gazelle or a Foxbat initially at least. You don't come across as enthusiastic about flying as you used to which is sad but I understand the time / cost pressures when you are young in particular. Others here more knowledgeable in '55's like Thirsty may well disagree with me of course.

  7. Interesting points Ian & Allegro, one can purchase 9+ inch Android operating tablets now for as cheap as $200. I have one Apple device it's OK but overpriced in comparison, not really too interested in buying another if I can help it.

But whatever your preference I love the competition between these different camps, the consumer is the big winner here.

  8. This is good:

Stranded jet-skier saunters through JFK safeguards

"A stranded jet-skier seeking help effortlessly overcame the Port Authority’s $100 million, supposedly state-of-the-art security system at JFK Airport — walking undetected across two runways and into a terminal, The Post has learned.

Motion sensors and closed-circuit cameras of the Perimeter Intrusion Detection System, or PIDS, were no match for Daniel Casillo, 31, of Howard Beach, who easily breached the system meant to safeguard against terrorists.... Dripping wet and in a bright-yellow life jacket, Casillo climbed the perimeter fence, which is eight feet high, and walked across that runway and intersecting Runway 31L — and made it all the way to Terminal 3 without anyone noticing."

  9. however as Gnarly Gnu suggested what is clear and obvious in my head may well be less than that when commited to paper. Hopefully Ive added to clarity rather than detracted from it with my explainations here.

Yes the explanation was good. I hadn't read the long thread here, it seemed tedious and a lot of posts by a couple of agitators which made me somewhat suspicious. Also I wonder why that Don man wants these changes when he bailed on us?

I see our constituion as not having evolved from when we were a much smaller group of people, that means that while it was effective for th needs of the time it no longer is and needed a tune up.

I agree, we need some amendments like freedom of speech and individuals right to bear arms. 021_nod.gif.30c66a33e1ed960b5b5d3fc7b345b58d.gif

  10. I believe we need to protect those privileges and demonstrate to the regulators (CASA) that we can be safe, competent and operate within the laws and regulations governing the RAA.

Heh "safe, competent and operate within the laws and regulations" you hoping CASA might follow if we in RAAus set a good example?

All the best Jim, and I hope if elected you are in for the long haul.

  11. My understanding is that fuel tanks should be filled after flight to minimise water condensation due to ingress of moisture laden air.

Hmm, in an ideal world I guess but where would that be?

I've never flown a Jabiru with full tanks and one of the strips I fly from you would likely be unable to do this and survive with two POB. Unless you are taking a long trip and it is necessary I suggest the safety risks of full tanks* may outweigh the small water condensation ingress advantage if there is one in a Jabiru. But you need to weigh the risks and decide for yourself of course, YMMV Canberra being cold and all.

    * Lots of extra weight = longer roll, slower climb & potential for stale fuel if you are not burning good quantities regularly.

  12. Rotax make - Snowmobile, Motorcycle, ATV, Scooter, Go cart , Marine, Industrial and I nearly forgot hmmm Aircraft engines.

Ah, multitasking I think it's called these days. Old folk used to have bottles of pills in the back of the medicine cupboard labelled "for man or beast". My workplace is next to a meat processing plant that produces pet food.... and supermarket food (from feral animals I might add).

Jabiru on the other hand are really specific with their aero engines! 012_thumb_up.gif.cb3bc51429685855e5e23c55d661406e.gif
