Isn't it considered really bad luck to have ladies on a ship or something?I wondered how many girls had voted North up!-

And that is left undefined? The RaAus syllabus, and the Casa day VFR syllabus make several references to "correct orientation of the map" inflight. -
Clearly he was goofing. The idea that someone would come from the UK to shop here should have been the give away line.Ummm... the first time I thought maybe I read it wrong, but then I see its reworded along the same insulting lines.. Care to explain OME? -
Did you mean to say they (Ramsey & Cain) affected Ra-Aus and the folk that voted for them adversely?...Don Ramsey, Bill Kane have all been affected, adversely.... -
How about that, you HH were the first one that I expected to nominate celestial navigation....Whether it be map, GPS, or FMS, always track up!

GPS - check
Autopilot - check....

I'm interested in folks preferences. What would seem an obvious choice to me might be seen much different to you. Also I'm told many females have a different preference to the majority of males with regard to map reading orientation, but I'm not sure if that is a myth or not.
If you have a totally different technique please be sure to share it, the dislike button has thankfully gone the way of the Dodo here so if you don't like the confines of using a compass and the NSEW cardinal direction system don't hold back on describing your favourite tea leaves navigation method or the great hand drawn sketch global circumnavigation.

Yes it is possible that CASA are running out of time, a good many taxpayers have lost patience with them. Hopefully the next government disbands the whole bureaucratic pantomime.

Thanks Alleg / Zibi, yes I was planning to buy an Android tab but held off and now I'm waiting for the Surface pro version to come out with full windows 8 so I can use it for my regular work stuff also.
-
Great! And how about a windows version that can run on the Surface?

-
You could try ATSIC for a card but I think they got shut down?

-
Oh, you don't do that do you?Stick for speed, throttle for rate of decent

Yeah in a 170 I normally go heat off and then run around 1500 - 1800 RPM for most of final then to idle just a bit before the threshold in slight to moderate wind conditions. I suggest it depends upon the length of your final leg also how much flap you are using, if full when it is applied, pax or not etc. Do what works for you, I doubt there is a clear right vs wrong method here as long as you don't get too slow of course but others with more experience may disagree.

"Hello good morning Sir, from which country are you calling....?"The other issue is that I then phoned 000 to ask if they are aware and they said no.-

Thanks for the advice! I added a note to the original post to clarify that I meant owner - builder, not a subsequent 19 registered purchaser.
ave8rr - I wonder how is a "build list" (ie people that contributed to the amateur build) defined?
-
Hey folks it's my understanding that a school cannot use a 19 amateur build for training but that a person can train in their own 19 reg aircraft provided they find a willing instructor - is this correct? If that is so must the person learning be the registered owner of the 19 reg aircraft or could it be registered to a relative or friend for example?
Had a quick look at the Ra-aus website + tech and ops manual and couldn't see it mentioned. OK so I'll contact the Tech manager but in the meantime I'm sure someone here has already looked into this or can point me to the relevant regulation.
.
Update: when I referred to the owner I meant owner-builder.

"The electronics bay of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner caught fire after landing in Boston yesterday. Federal investigators want to know why this type of incident has plagued the new jet." - Popular Mechanics
So wait till the media get onto this - "plastic aircraft at risk of mid-air meltdown..." - Gnu

Very, very fortunate there indeed Mark, that's a big operation ahead - all the best for your operation and recovery. As Winsor says when you get past the op OK the results are quite dramatic.
I must add a person facing death would be well advised not to do so blaspheming the name of the son of God.Jeezus Mark!!!-

Probably nothing. During a junket you need to make a few calls here and there to be able to claim it as 'business'. As long as the ATO is OK with the rest of us doing it also........ I wonder what's "blowin" in the wind? -
All the fun jobs like that seem to have disappeared.

Nice Fred! May I ask what is the max height you have taken it to?
-
Yes, that would be Wayne Johns for sure.

Was it facing Mecca when you welded it or something? The airframe can get magnetized by welding mostly

I'm not convinced Queensland was intended for long term human habitation. Good for a visit when the weather settles down though.
