  1. Ummm... the first time I thought maybe I read it wrong, but then I see its reworded along the same insulting lines.. Care to explain OME?

Clearly he was goofing. The idea that someone would come from the UK to shop here should have been the give away line.

  2. I'm interested in folks preferences. What would seem an obvious choice to me might be seen much different to you. Also I'm told many females have a different preference to the majority of males with regard to map reading orientation, but I'm not sure if that is a myth or not.

If you have a totally different technique please be sure to share it, the dislike button has thankfully gone the way of the Dodo here so if you don't like the confines of using a compass and the NSEW cardinal direction system don't hold back on describing your favourite tea leaves navigation method or the great hand drawn sketch global circumnavigation.

  3. Yeah in a 170 I normally go heat off and then run around 1500 - 1800 RPM for most of final then to idle just a bit before the threshold in slight to moderate wind conditions. I suggest it depends upon the length of your final leg also how much flap you are using, if full when it is applied, pax or not etc. Do what works for you, I doubt there is a clear right vs wrong method here as long as you don't get too slow of course but others with more experience may disagree.

  4. Hey folks it's my understanding that a school cannot use a 19 amateur build for training but that a person can train in their own 19 reg aircraft provided they find a willing instructor - is this correct? If that is so must the person learning be the registered owner of the 19 reg aircraft or could it be registered to a relative or friend for example?

Had a quick look at the Ra-aus website + tech and ops manual and couldn't see it mentioned. OK so I'll contact the Tech manager but in the meantime I'm sure someone here has already looked into this or can point me to the relevant regulation.

Update: when I referred to the owner I meant owner-builder.

  5. Very, very fortunate there indeed Mark, that's a big operation ahead - all the best for your operation and recovery. As Winsor says when you get past the op OK the results are quite dramatic.

    Jeezus Mark!!!

I must add a person facing death would be well advised not to do so blaspheming the name of the son of God.
