  1. ...my costs for duel training is..$253 per hour in Tecnam..SE QLD

OK, that's over the top for RA-Aus training but I presume you raised this issue as you already realised? I suggest overseas training starts to become viable about here.

Just as important is the average total number of hours to certificate, I hear plenty of schools want to milk you for as long as they can.

  2. Are we now going to be told these props are no longer legal? If so who is going to pay for replacements for props that were purchased and fitted under a clearly published regulation?

In the real world they would have to prove multiple problems / incidents having occurred prior to even considering a ban. But yeah, we live in an alternative universe where even simple light bulbs got banned so who knows.

  3. I own a small 40 acre semi-rural property.I did all the research before putting the strip in and found The council have NO say.

Totally agree, some good advice here. Always remember that in Australia councils are unconstitutional bodies who do not even have the legal right to charge rates, so you are doing them a favour paying and putting up with them when they really should be tarred and feathered and run out of town. Look after your neighbours not the council.

  4. I've not been following this story much but can someone please explain why RA-Aus even has an annual registration? Apart from the public liability insurance portion I can see no need for it at all.

The implication of annual renewals (when it should be a once-off registration) seems to be that they can subsequently pull the registration at any time - which it seems they did.

  5. so where can you buy it

I'm thinking only in the USA currently - and it looks to be solvent based, if so then not obtainable via the mail either. There are other brands of the same type of product coming on the US / European market also but I think a big issue has been how to make this coating durable. I heard about a European version that was undergoing certification for coating the pointy end of airliners.

  6. I'm a numbers man so we just focused on getting the numbers (heights) right at each point in the 'circuit' to the field that has been chosen, 1500ft mid downwind, 1200ft turning base, 1000ft established on base then on to final...

Sounds good! Learning to judge approx height above ground level by eye is important too I found (well still honing that one), you won't necessarily know the elevation of the patch you are aiming at.
