I liked Marks piece too. It helps to offset the pompous-a$$ piece from the Tech manager on page 14. This person who you all seemed to think was going to be so wonderful apparently gets his jollies from grounding aircraft and finds it more fun to write a short article sneering at the aircraft owner over some trivial mislabelling on a form than simply getting on the phone to quickly sort it out.
I don't think I had fully grasped the extent of problems with RAA until I read that, seems to be there to hinder more than to serve. Is there a big picture I am missing? Are we all meant to move over to CASA or something?

The plastic card I have looks a bit lame, is the paper one a bit smarter looking?
-
Did the P-51's use the same engine?
-
Apart from the fact it looses less height in the turn than a Jabiru does I'm not seeing the difference myself? As HIC said, works in all aircraft, just varying height lost. The fact it is a motor glider is a big difference. -
Depends upon your view I guess, IMHO practise teardrop turns are essential EFTO training. But clearly not done at this altitude initially until you know the manoeuver well and have practised it in that particular aircraft; in other words this pilot knew he was doing and what to expect. But feel free to disagree of course!

This seems reasonable, thanks for posting.

Welcome Blair! I do believe we briefly shared the sky near Renmark at least once. As for the road, yes we may have passed there too although not out in the Nullarbor, that's not my stomping ground. SYD to PER is a looooong drive....

Hola Idipenti! (Bienvenido I think it is?)
One or two....Are there any ultralight pilots in this forums?
-
Good job! Would it be best to cut the engine in this situation?

Surveys are safer for sure.I am not real keen on getting in one myself.
Plus you may get the pig but a PPC won't bring home the bacon. Still be wonderful to behold the CASA guy ramp checking an armed PPC. Tell them you are Botswana Air Force or something.

Old age may not be as much as factor as prior drug use (legal and illegal). I've noticed by middle age a pot-head / prior pot user or alchie has lost a lot of cells and is often struggling with basic mental function rather like early onset alzheimers. It's like they are trying hard to comprehend but the circuits aren't fully connected. The great majority of older folk I know who haven't destroyed themselves thus are plenty sharp.

I'm not quite sure why it still exists, pretty much just a pub, couple of ancient houses and a few old railway sheds. Doubt anyone at the pub would be to fussed where you landed for that matter.

Well you could add the sound system to the Nynja...

It's like a big Tamiya plastic model. Noticed the horizontal stab started wobbling when the spectators touched it, maybe not glued yet.

Just to clarify I'm assuming you would be part way through your instruction Nev25. One week for the whole thing would not be realistic for most people but if it can be afforded I think there is merit in a more intensive training regime than the common 1 - 4 hours per month effort.
In the US there is intensive 1.5 and 2 week go to whoa courses, similar to what MM mentioned I think.

Yes that form is odd, from memory (and unless it has since been improved) it's rather unclear where the hours should be entered.

Go for a week, get your certificate done?Long way for me to go for an Hour lesson-

Hopefully they would do a little gas welding as well as TIG, that would be nice. But I understand with three days it's better to learn something well than have only an overview of different techniques.

Hey Skippy seems like you're not impressed with the answers + suggestions provided & are keen to use these plastic garden fittings regardless so why not just let us know back how it works out for you, others may be interested.

Besides the twin Vickers may be useful during a pesky ramp check eh? Probably worth the 50 penalty points or whatever it is.I like the idea of being as close to original as possible.

Yeah 100 hours on L's whilst well-meaning is simply not practical and I suspect most would fiddle the numbers. It's getting to the point where kids will need to go O/S to get a licence then convert it here. Or not convert it.... thousands of immigrants and foreign students are now driving here long term on O/S licences. Including driving taxis.
On topic there was a note on the annual form about informing them if any endorsements were missing on your certificate (as I have but haven't bothered to correct). Could be poor record keeping or maybe an allowance for dodgy fax machines or instructors failing to send in all the necessary papers.

Fantastic boingk, not only an amazing design but it fully assembles itself (just like we are told in evolution).

What do you do when you can't fly?
