RAAus future is at stake here… There is an urgent matter that all RAAus pilots and aircraft owners need to consider. If left unresolved this issue will adversely impact your right to fly light sport aircraft. CORONERS INQUEST Final Report - Jabiru Accident Mount Beauty. In his report the Coroner, Paul Lawrie, has recommended legal action be taken against RAAus. He has referred this matter for prosecution to the Department of Public Prosecutions in Victoria. The key matter has been the stated issue of a pilot certificate and endorsements without adequate pilot training by RAAus and the withholding of information that should have been released to the Coroner. The responsible RAAus officers in this matter, previous Operations Manager Ms J.Bailey and the RAAus Chairman Mr M.Monk. Over the last 40 years of RAAus’s existence we have never had such such an adverse report made against our organisation. It is estimated over $300,000+ of member's money, that is your money, has already been spent on legal and associated costs by RAAus.The losses continue to accumulate. Unfortunately there is no end in sight for the actual and planned legal proceedings being taken against RAAus. RAAus will become insolvent if current and future legal claims made against it are successful. Despite the obvious need to do so the Coroner's report has not been published by RAAus for its members. Even a link to the Coroner's report in a RAAus newsletter has not been made available. I believe most would see this is an attempt to keep the report a secret. So why does this report matter to you? RAAus may have its licensing approvals suspended or terminated by CASA. Control of sport aviation may be handed back to CASA. Your flying privileges may be adversely affected should this occur. So what can any RAAus member do about this catastrophe? Firstly please consider the serious issues that now confront RAAus. Please also forward the Coroners report and the Australian Aviation Magazine article on to other interested RAAus members. If enough RAAus members chose to be informed and be involved in we will be able to effect change. You can have your voice heard by supporting common sense reform of RAAus and how it operates. Probably in part to do with restrictions in Australia. Oshkosh in the U.S. even provide an airstrip for the FAA FAR Part 103 aircraft to fly in, to the World’s biggest Show 🤩 Don’t even need a pilot’s licence to do it 👍

The hierarchical structure is toxic, based on phone calls from what people tell me. There is a lot of historical bad blood 🤢 Which I find sad……. Maybe there needs to be big changes for RAA to move forward in a positive light?

Personally, I think the structure of Aviation does not show very many shining lights, anywhere right now. RAAus hierarchy were formally invited to attend SAAA Fly In, if they don’t turn up? That will be interesting.

Word has it at the SAAA Fly IN that RAAUS members are jumping ship everywhere 🤩 GO VH, they said, AND they are.🤩

First we need a foot in the door and adopting the U.S. FAA FAR Part 103 regime as it stands, is the answer. IF it can be proven to work here, THEN work on changes, the RAA principle of 760 MTOW is an example. in our case, we don’t want RAA near any Part 103 system here, CASA must administer the Part 103 to start with. The RAA model has worked for it except now it wants to be GA with slick aircraft cost and complexity. The structure of RAA is wrong, I was changed with a vested interest of making money and increasing to cost of flying in the Aviation segment it administers. It forgotten where it came from……

I am bothered when I see RAAUS staff on the part 103 technical working group which leads me to believe there will be a conflict of interest in the outcome of that working group which will not favour part 103 in any way? It’s come to the point where I may need to make a complete, direct submission to CASA in support of trying to establish an FAA FAR Part 103 aviation segment in Australia. My recommendation, that it would be not in any way be part of the RAAUS umbrella.

RAA will do anything they can to squash anything to do with any part 103 like existence in Australia I would even question the fact of those staff members are actually on the technical working group because they have vested interest not to see part 103 type operation in Australia ever

Not much hope for us here when you see our RAA staff members on the technical working group for part 103 listed in Casa documentation. RAA will be doing their best to shoot the concept down.🤢

I have been giving a lot of thought to this and made a possible plan for myself. IF Part 103 looks like never happening in Australia. I would sell all my aircraft and any associated equipment and get out of aviation in Australia. Then I would travel to the US, buy a FAA FAR Part 103 aircraft and a trailer for it. Since I have many friends in the US I would have a place to store it. Then simply spend the money flying to the US for four weeks at a time probably four times a year and have an aviation holiday each trip and fly with thousands of like-minded happy FAR part 103 owners. And forget Australia. NO RAAus, NO numbers, No licence and NO bullsh1t. I have to get rid of the inheritance somehow, I don’t wanna leave any behind 🤩

AND note the names of RAAus staff members on that Working Group? I would allege collusion for nefarious purposes?
